Did a full clear in Chardok, not one dropped. So either I have bad luck or the drop rate there for Sulfur is very low.
This is listed as buyable and also listed as in Plane of Knowledge
I figure this must be a mistake.

So I stumbled across this by accident but the Aviak Avocets in South Karana drop the Crystallized Sulfur. It's not super common drop but as a low level researcher it's very accessible and soloable. Their spawnrate isn't too bad if you clear the Rooks, Harriers, Darters and Egrets. I was able to kill these as a Necromancer at 25 on Aradune(TLP) Untwinked. Not bad money either usually gold, gem stones and a decent level spot for solo classes on TLP.

Trying to find where to farm this while still in classic EQ on Mangler, and looking at my logs i saw:

seems to be dropping a decent amount in butcherblock adventures (LDoN).. but I need to empty my bags and repost so I can loot to get a better idea

for you people doing spell research, it can be real expensive to buy your solutions or solution ingrediants.
Make your own and save lots of plat. I mean lots.
aqua regia costs about 10pp to make yourself and 150pp to buy. But it takes a couple of drops like Crystallized Sulfur to make it so save them.

For those looking for farm them (at least places I personally can solo) I've found that a few of the best places are chardok, tenebrous mountains, and howling stones. They seem to have a common drop rate in these places.
If anyone happens to know of other places w/ a good drop rate feel free to reply to this. Any extra farming information is always nice.

Crystallized Sulfur also dropped off the following mobs in Dulak
a tavern patron
a ship blueprinter
an armoury guardian

These drop off of the various spiders in FV

Dropped off various mobs in SSRA. Got 6 in about an hour
These drop plenty from genoids in Wakening lands
aye, still dropping from the Geonids.
Seems to be a drop every 3-5 kills or so. As always its a variable thing. They will drop more than one on rare occasions.
Phenocryst (58) is the named Geonid there. My 79 Necro certainly killed him easily, but he resists a lot of spells so beware. And the 1 or 2 mobs around him will add and cause you a little grief with interrupted spells. So just beware it's not a piece of cake if you go in with lower toons. He's in a side room so you can skip him with no problems.
Geonids will run at low health.
a Shimmering Geonid is a good DC pet for you Enchanters.
The Goo drops sulfur too, but not much.

Best place I've found for this stuff is The Hole ... spent a couple hours in there, moving from the entrance to deep-in, and back out ... walked out with 3 stacks.
I heard Rumor that this item had become hot, errr, well at least luke warm.
I have a lvl 42 iksar sk that has a good 4 stacks (positive of at least this much), maybe more on him.
Glad he gets his food delivered to him, lol
Will have to get him to a bank one day and transfer them to my trader.

any one found the best place to farm sulfur?
in dulaks
this can drop off any mob level 10-70 that can drop gems.
DoD Spells over lvl 65...Currently kicking myself after the oodles I had sold to the Vendors.

I spent many hours in many diffrent zones killing many creatures that drop this "common" drop. i think the loot table got changed since the 9/16/05 patch or something, cuase these are no where to be found. Cant even find em vendor divin.
The Timber Griffons seem to drop many different things; this is one of them.
