Trakanon's Teeth is a swampy forest region located in the southern portion of Kunark.

Streams from its lake feed in to the Swamp of No Hope to the West and flow in and around the ruins of Sebilis, the ancient Iksar city long ago destroyed by Trakanon.

Okay...I think someone musta been asleep at the switch when assigning which zones would be considered "Hot Zones" for one's respective level. Trakanon's Teeth is considered "hot" for a level 30 toon...but most everything in the zone is between 35-45th level, on average. The mobs are too powerful to effectively grind away xp in.

On the flip side, for some reason...they made Warsliks Woods a level 35 "Hot Zone" where the mobs range from level 5 - level 30 max.

What the heck were these bozos thinkin!!! ><
TT cons much too high for level 30-35 to handle
# Dec 02 2007 at 10:43 AM Rating: Decent
I brought a well-balanced group of level 30-31s here.

At level 30-31, almost the entire zone is yellow to red with lots of aggro.

Not sure what Sony was thinking when they make it a Hot Zone for 30-35.

At level 35, it might make a bit more sense.

In any case, it didn't work well for us @ 30-31.

This is supposed to be a Hot Zone, but was not getting Hot Zone exp. Killed a DB and Red, got one sub-bubble (should have had ~3).

New mission starts in TT
# Mar 02 2006 at 10:30 AM Rating: Decent
There is a mission giver npc in the south west corner of the zone. he wants you to talk to two other NPCs one is in TT and the other in EJ. The one in TT roots you and summons 5 mobs. The one in EJ will give you a task, but with the 4 chars I had in my group I still could not get the task.

I am assuming it is a raid force type mission or that you need to be flagged or keyed in order to get the task. He is also the npc you need to talk to in order to zone in to the instanced zone for this task.

I am also assuming that you need to do his task and get whatever item or info before you talk to the lvl 80 mob back in TT.

It has something to do with a history book

The aggro in this zone is awful.

If you are after the Seb Key and have the hand ins.

I would recommend a grp.

Invis or Sup Camo as you walk through the zone line (Try to get a SoE (or DMF with SoW)). Run to close to the Emporers Stairs (nr. the Spectral MOBS) get a cleric to cast Invis. Vs. Undead all /follow the leader, do the hand in and Invis.Vs.Undead the leave to a safe distance and read cast Invis or Sup Camo again.

The mobs as expect at to a 53 Ranger are okay, but the adds from aggro are really bad.

never invised past the mobs befor never had a problem befor, done the turn ins on a level 43 char with no back up (had help geting the items the day befor) its all about timenig and knowing what your doing if you follow he walls in the zone and dont run through the middle of the zone you might not run into the zone's mobs as offten.

Why do the cycle?
# Feb 01 2003 at 1:47 AM Rating: Default
I've finally realized that the drops off the cycles are terrible compared to the amount of time required. Take a look at how many mobs have nodrop that you can't wear. The entire hunter cycle is crap. The only things worth dookie are the Iksar mask and Iksar BP. How many kills will it take to get them? Somewhere around 200, on average, not including adds or the hunter cycle.

With that amount of time and effort, you could have leveled several times instead.

Probably not

I think you are better off in the Dreadlands with a group. This place can be very bad for adds, and the mobs are TOUGH, especially for your level.

We did a 3-man recon here with a 53, a 51 and a 48, and had to run for our lives. Came back with two groups and did much better pulling to safer spots.

My group on Fennin Ro is thinking about doing this tomorrow night (10/9/02) and I'm wondering if some people who have done this zone before would have some helpful hints for us.
We are:
45 Monk
47 Cleric
45 Shadowknight
41 Enchanter
45 Bard

We've worked very well with each other for a long time now (over 12 months). We want to take the Forager cycle. Any words of wisdom?

You shouldn't have any trouble at all. You've got a well balanced group with a good mix of skills, including a Bard to track the Hunter and Forager.

Much to my surprise, we saw the Hangman last night after about an hour of hunter/forager. It is a giant erollisi mantrap. I was expecting a froggie. He spawned on a rough line between EJ/TT zone and Swamp zone.

A mob that I did not see in the bestiary a named froglok called Ffroaak.
I was with my guild and another guild and we were pulling foragers and hunters to get the key to go to Sebilis. The ranger (level 52) pulled Ffroaak the first time and he was killed before he got back to us, same with the 55 bard. He was red to me at 47 and the ranger said he was blue at 52, so that puts him in the range or 50 to 51.
They say he casted spells for around 525damage, so they were easily disposed of after a few spells.
We took him down when he was by the Emerald Jungle zoneline and he dropped just a salil's writ page. That's all. Kinda disapointing.
Has anyone else seen this mob Ffroaak? He looks exactly like all the other froloks.

I've seen him yes. We took him down the other day relatively easily, and he dropped nothing. The second time I pulled him took me down relatively easily :( with ice comet. Ouch. I've yet to discover wether he drops anything or is just a ph.

I've seen the mob that you are talking about. i was with cult of rathma while helping them with there OS keys. I (a 53 ranger) was pulling hunters to the TT zone. i pulled this caster 4 times, and he hits pretty hard with spells. he was dark blue to me, and has lots of hp and hits in the 60-80 range (not his spells though). when i first got to the zone Doom was up, we killed him and killed this guy 3 times and about 8 or so hunters.

The critter mobs (cat, raptor, plant, bird) are all warriors - they have no special attacks or effects, though they can hit hard and fast. They can also be SoWed by wandering Froglok shaman so sometimes they run faster than normal. The Hangman is hasted (because of the haste item he carries).

Doom is a weird mob - I think he may have been added later and I almost didn't add him to the list until it became obvious that he is part of the Hunter cycle. He is a player killer - there can be no other name for him. He is level 55 and runs faster than SoW and has high resists. I believe he is an SK - though I never actually killed him. When he popped I decided it was time to hunt elsewhere since you need a full party to take him down (unless you are level 60 or so). I have had it confirmed from many sources that he does NOT drop any loot. This is the only mob that I have not personally killed to confirm loot drops.

All other named mobs range from level 45 to level 50 (max). Named mobs seem to pop about 20% of the time, either cycle.

Have fun!

I can confirm that Doom is the baddy of the Hunter cycle, and is a level 55 undead Iksar Skele Warrior-type mob which can run SoW/WF/SoE-speed. He hits for about 150, and has 10k-ish hp, if not more.

Either snare-pull him (resisted from a 53 Druid), or fight him where he stands with your group.

He can drop gems and spells rarely, but is really just the "booby-prize" of the Hunter cycle.

I have hunted in TT alot ever since 45...at 50s i started taking my guild there to get them keys. Pulling all the time for those groups makes you pretty aware of this area quick. Pulling hunters and foragers using a fast quick nuke is good..then track back to your group...always keeping just ahead of the mob. You cant go full steam back to your group..you have to listen to the croaking sounds of the frog behind you to "feel" how close he is to you. Drag him back to your camp and hit him with snare...then have a fearer....I have managed to get almost all of the rares to spawn at least once. This zone is decently fun now at 58....get average exp and the chance to help peeps who need to get their keys..and have a chance at some great loot. Recent Kills=Crusader Zoglic-Iksar Ceremonial BP, Hangman-Hangmans Noose (neck or waist wearable), Sigra-Silken Cat Fur Girdle, and Trakanasaurus Rex-Traks Tooth. Hunters can spawn by ej zone..or if you dont track them there after a kill..head down near sebby and the monk NPC and youll find him for sure. Forager spot is at the swamp zone for best results as they spawn in a random location but always trackable by the swamp zone. Good Location. Well..good luck to you all out there..May Mother Tunare be blessed by the blood of your enemies!

Little Help On TT
# Aug 18 2001 at 4:58 PM Rating: Default
Howdy I am the Designated puller for my guild and I need info on TT. My guild would like to send a group there to get keys to seb and some of the nice items. All in the group are around 50. No one in the group has been there and I have been asking around but not many people I know have been to TT, much less pulled. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me where abouts the hunter/forager spawn ( i read the posts here and have written down what was said) and some more info about how the rares spawn. As far as I can tell now the H/F spawns kinda randomly and after killing a named might spawn in its place. What I dont understand is where are the apporoximate areas of the H/F and if they move around, where do the named ones spawn? I understand that a ranger is crucial here, but would like some more info so I dont kill my friends.

Here's the scoop on TT.

You need a tracker. Can't live without one. This is a huge zone, and there are lots of wandering mobs that will aggro you even in the upper 50's.

Hunting the Forager / Hunter is pretty straightforward. Each Forager / Hunter has three possible 'tracks' that they spawn and march on - along the north wall, west wall (north half), and south wall. The Forager spawns most frequently along the west wall track. The Hunter spawns most frequenty along the north track. At least none of them ever spawn on the East side of the zone :) Note that all special named spawns spawn in the same areas as their hunter/forager trigger and march back and forth in the same general pattern. It is important to understand the concept of the two 'tracks' because most of the time you will be hunting close to one track and then after a kill suddenly nothing pops up. Your mob is going to be on one of the other tracks. They do not move from track to track - i.e. if a mob spawns in the south track he will be there, marching back and forth, until he is killed. You will not see a Forager or Hunter if a named from their named table is up - you will have to kill the named before the F or H will spawn.

Which leads me to an important point. A hunter AND a forager mob is ALWAYS up in the zone. I am using small "h" and "f" here to denote either the Hunter or Forager mobs or any of their associated named mobs. The second you kill a Hunter, for example, either another Hunter spawns or a hunter named spawns from the hunter named table. There is NO spawn delay. You CANNOT cause a Forager to spawn from killing a Hunter, nor can you get a forager named to spawn from killing a Hunter.

There is a long list of named spawns that can be triggered by killing the H or F. As I mentioned above, the named spawn tables are distinctly different for both H and F. I have a comprehensive list of what drops from which mob, but I leave it to you to discover for yourselves :) Good items drop on both tables, so neither the Hunter nor Forager is better in that respect, it just depends on which item you are most interested in. About half of the named mobs carry items, and half drop nothing special other than loot you might find on the H or F. There are no common or rare items. If a named that normally carries an item spawns, he will have that item 100% of the time. If a named that does not carry items spawns - you're out of luck. This is especially painful if the cheap named mob happens to be a level 50 caster. It seems that named mobs spawn about 20% of the time and the H or F spawn the rest. Sometimes you can get a run of three or four named at a time, sometimes a long string of no luck.

The Forage and Hunter are ALWAYS level 45, but they have more hit points and do more damage than a normal level 45 mob. The named spawns can be many levels, but seem to be 48 on the low end and 50 on the high end. I have NEVER been summoned by a named mob anywhere in this zone so I think 50 is the cap.

Quick comment. The Hangman appears to be the toughest mob in this zone. He is hasted and sowed, and can kick some butt if you arent ready for him. He can outrun a 56 shaman :) Root and snare and you'll be ok, but if he gets on you before you can get a spell off you're gonna be hurting - he disrupts spells like mad and has fairly good resists. Also, this zone is notorious for adds during pulls. Make sure you totally buff your puller.

There is some nice mid-level No Drop stuff in this zone. It can be worthwhile to park a character in the zone if he might benefit from a No Drop item. Check the loot tables.

Final comment. It is generally good manners to take either the Hunter OR the Forager spawns but not both (unless no one else is in the zone). Since the mobs insta-spawn a replacement when you kill them, there is absolutely nothing to be gained by taking both spawns. If you need Seb keys it is very easy to shout for the piece you need, and the other group will let you loot em.

Good luck!

RE: Little Help On TT
# Aug 21 2001 at 11:11 AM Rating: Decent
The spawns are "random" in that they are supposed to spawn at a couple different static points. Once the Hunter/Forager spawns, it instanly starts walking. The forager seems to have one static spawn point, I don't know about the hunter as we were only camping the forager. We followed the river that comes out of the Swamp zone. Halfway between the Lake and Cave/tunnel is where the forager spawns. Standing at his spawn point is very nasty with all the wandering creatures. It's better the either pull to the cave or pull to the lake. Cave is a little better, less adds.

I was on my druid 51, my friend Deiphobos was with me, currently 45 warrior, and we tracked down the forager near the swamp zone up steam a ways, and when you kill the forager you go to the other side of the river and track and the hunter is a while off but still visible on track, Dei, myself, a kind ogre warrior, and a 57 mage had NO trouble of any kind, one heal for all 8 kills, and we got all of us keys to seb in about 2 hours tops, and it was mostly because I was messing around a great deal of the time =P

To recap, go to the swamp of no hope zone, find the river near by, go up stream and you should come between 2 "hills" and a very small valley which the river is the middle, tracking from said spot will result in both frogies on track, and once they die they have a 2 minute spawn timer so shall be up very shortly,
Happy to help
and if you need keys on Zebuxoruk
contact Belrain or Deiphobos, and we'll be happy to open the zone or help you out with the keys

On my server, Luclin, this zone is almost always empty (except for folks traveling to and from sebilis). At 39, the exp rocks (and at 40 too), lots of sabretooth hides for wood elf cultural tailoring (pity they don't stack like other pelts for tailoring). The mobs we mostly fight (hunt with at least 1 partner) are blue to black (to a level 40): trakanasaur, frogloks, sabretooths: and they hit in the 80s. If your pull a spectral Keeper, they will hit in the 110s and usually double hit.

My advice for the under-50s that hunt here is to stay near the zone to Swamp of no Hope (set up base camp in the cave that the river flows out of). Try to only pull when your casters are over 40% manna (double pulls can be a bit too tough). I am a shaman, so I usually apply listless power and venom of the snake (scourge if there are multiples and then apply the same to the additional one) to the target and have my pet attack. My partners have mostly been shadow knights ( heat blood and life draw get used a lot) who have been tanking. Bring lots of bone chips since the sk pets seem to get eaten a lot.

Being this cautious has resulted in no deaths so far and only one running to zone (overpull) with a payback of 1 level over 2 days. Who says 40 is a hell level?

Now if only we can find some higher levels (with tracking) to partner with so that we can get some hangman's nooses. Usually the only reason lvl 50+ chars show up to hunt in this zone is to get the key to sebilis. I came here to try to get the last item I need for the canibalize 2 spell quest, but I like TT and will stay a while.

pulled to EJ zone
But was hard to do since frogs see throu invis and forager and hunter are slower than other frogs. We got one named who droped a sk helm but 3 other named were tough fearing necros who didnt drop anything.
Expect to spend lots of time here if u want to get rare named to spawn.
