If the pearlescent fragments are droppable by any random mobs where are they on most mob list for this zone?
Yeah, anything can drop them. I soloed alot here on my SK in the late 40's/early 50's and seen them multiple times.

Why are some wurms animals and some are monsters?

I dont see any animals at all in this zone using 'sence animals'. always get msg 'you sence nothing'. Dont know where you see animals but I dont think there are any in this zone.
