In East Freeport hidden beneath the docks under the Seafarer's Roost, is an entrance to the passages holding the Rogues Guild called Coalition of Tradefolk, Illegal. These Rogues under Guildmaster Elisi Nasin walk the dangerous edge of Neutrality. Care should be taken visiting them, as they are not far from the evil guild called the Dismal Rage. Their activities support the Coalition of Tradefolk, who are the merchants of Freeport, and Carson McCabe the Leader of Highpass Keep. In addition, they support the Corrupt Qeynos Guards and the Freeport Militia who are also quite corrupt. If one does not stand upon principle, helping this guild can raise your standing in some of the darker elements of society without lowering your standing with the forces of good.
The following quests require Coalition of Tradefolk Underground faction
As of 05/09/02 this faction was renamed from "Coalition of Tradefolk Ill" to "Coalition of Tradefolk Underground". Hope this helps anyone who's confused :)
Another way to lower this faction is by killing the EVIL Tonsmith brothers in west commons. Noticed this when trying them on for size with my little iksar monk.
Didn't see this one posted, but there's another simple quest you can do that will improve this faction, as well as Coalition of Trade Folk, Carson McCabe, Freeport Militia, and Corrupt Qeynos guards without hurting faction with anybody. Go through the false wall near the gate (West Freeport, I think) and find Nestral TGaza, a dark elf rogue. Ask her "Who is Rebby?" and she'll give you a note to give to Rebby, a halfling rogue in West Freeport near the monk guild. Give him the note, and he'll give you Rebby's rat whiskers, which are stackable, and are not lore or no-drop. I used a human rogue mule to do this, collecting the rat whiskers, then transferring them to my iksar monk to sneak behind Nestral and give them to her. After doing this 150 times, my iksar was regarded dubiously to the Militia, and very well (warmly or ally) to the merchants in East and West Freeport. Could walk freely anywhere in East and West Freeport, as long as I avoided the Academy, warrior guild, inside of Seafarer's Roost (2 people, a bard and a barbarian would try to kill me) and the peasant woman in the water near the monk guild. After killing 700 orcs in EC, could walk freely around North Freeport, again as long as I avoided the guilds (bard, palladin, and cleric). This will only work if the character turning them in can sneak or invis, good especially for iksar monks, who need to walk through Freeport freely to get their epic (but you'll need to kill lots of orcs too, after 700 I'm only dubious to them, and you need to be amaible to do their quests).
Lowering pretty much any faction too much will make you KOS to someone. but it wont always be a whole town or even be people in the same town. i pretty much ruined this faction doing the bandage quest in misty thicket and it has had no real effect on me other than that the halfling thief rebby something or other in W freeport will attack me if i get close. id say that being kos on this faction isnt too hard to live with for most.
Another way you can raise this faction is by doing the evil version of the deathfist slashed belts quest, turning them in to Captain Hazran in West Freeport.
Okay... if I want to RAISE faction with the Coalition of Tradefolks III, do I kill faction friendly or faction opposed npcs?? I know this may sound like a silly question, but this only says what factions change, not weather they go up or down... Ack! Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
