    You say, 'Hail, Saemey Wirewhisker'

Saemey Wirewhisker says 'Welcome to Kejek friend. I am the seer of this village for I have been gifted by the spirits with an affinity for their realm. The barrier between the spirit and physical realms is thin in these lands. The heretics know this and must be prevented from committing [atrocities] similar to those that have been committed in the past.

You say, 'What sort of atrocities?'

Saemey Wirewhisker says 'Long ago when our noble ancestors the Vah Shir were destroyed by an explosion that devastated the warring Heretic and Erudin armies an evil creature by the name of Tserrina Syl'Tor was attracted to the sudden abundance of new spirits in these lands. Tserrina was capable of capturing these spirits before they were able to cross over beyond the mortal realm and through her dark magic transformed them into a [crystalline shadow] substance.

You say, 'What crystalline shadow substance?'

Saemey Wirewhisker says 'The crystalline shadow substance was used as building blocks for Tserrina's tower on an Island near the frozen lands to the south as well as fashioned into armor and weapons for her mindless servants. Emylie Steelclaws has developed a means to purify the armor and weapons using the special properties of our Kejek forge and a smithy hammer blessed by the Titan Spirits. The purifying process transfers the imprisoned spirits into [soul orbs]. Ask Emylie about the purification process.

You say, 'What are soul orbs?'

Saemey Wirewhisker says 'I have perfected a ritual that will free the imprisoned spirits within the soul orbs. I simply require some kejek [spirit powder] to scrawl the proper sigils and a soul orb upon which to perform the ceremony. My apprentice will perform the ceremony on fading soul orbs. Simply bring him a fading soul orb and some kejek spirit powder.

You say, 'What is kejek spirit powder?'

Saemey Wirewhisker says 'The spirit power of which I speak is composed of ground spiritling stones. I will grind some powder for you if you would bring me a Valley Spiritling Stone, a Jungle Spiritling Stone, and a Mountain Spiritling Stone. Collecting the stones does not truly harm the spiritlings for when slain in this realm their essence simply disperses until it eventually reforms into a new spiritling.

    1. Talk to Emylie Steelclaws in the same fort.

      You say, 'Hail, Emylie Steelclaws'

Emylie Steelclaws says 'Shalom friend. My mate Kalaaro is the primary blacksmith of our village. I mostly create his tools, do touch ups and refurbishes, and maintain the [kejek forge].

      You say, 'What kejek forge?'

Emylie Steelclaws says 'Our forge has received the blessings of the Titan Spirits to burn with a supernatural flame! This flame has many beneficial properties but most importantly it can aid in freeing the spirits that have been imprisoned in materials by evil sorcerers.

You say, 'What about the purification process?'

Emylie Steelclaws says 'The crystalline shadow must be purified in the kejek forge using a special hammer blessed by the Titan Spirits. I will craft a hammer for you to take to the Titans for their blessings if you bring me a Large Brick of High Quality Ore and an Oak Shaft. Once the hammer is blessed you may use it in the kejek forge to purify the crystalline shadow and transfer the spirits contained within it to a Soul Orb that must be taken to our village seer.

    2. Give Emylie a Large Brick of High Quality Ore and an Oak Shaft.

Emylie Steelclaws takes the supplies and begins to work on the hammer. She works swiftly and efficiently then cools the finished hammer and hands it to you.

    3. Locate a giant ape by the name of Giang Yin in Stonebrunt Mountains.

      You say, 'Hail, Giang Yin'

Giang Yin looks down upon the creature standing beneath him and speaks. 'You are brave to approach a titan such as Giang Yin. I pray that the spirits have granted you honor and respect as well as courage.'

    4. Give any of the titans the Kejekan Smithy Hammer.

Prowler of the Jungle, Slyder the Ancient, Old Ghostback, Snowbeast, and Giang Yin will all accept the Kejekan Smithy Hammer.

Upon turn in to Giang Yin:

Giang Yin says 'Freeing long imprisoned spirits is a noble cause. Your hammer has our blessing to free the souls from their crystalline shadow tombs.

    5. Place the Soulforge Hammer and one Crystallized Shadow or Faded Shadow item into the Kejek Forge and hit combine. The trivial for all combines is 15 (no-fail).

-A Cyrstalized Shadow weapon results in a Purified Crystal weapon and a Soul Orb.
-A Cyrstalized Shadow armor piece results in a Purified Crystal armor piece and a Soul Orb.

From here, collect the Valley, Jungle, and Mountain Spiritling Stones and give them to Saemey Wirewhisker.

Saemey Wirewhisker grinds the spiritling stones in a mortar and pestle with foreign runes scratched into the ceramic. 'This powder will assist in matters concerning the contacting or freeing of spirits.'

You receive 1-4 Kejek Spirit Powders.

    6. Give one Kejek Spirit Powder and a Soul Orb to Saemey Wirewhisker:

Saemey Wirewhisker says 'I require a Soul Orb and Kejek Spirit Dust in order to perform the ritual that will free the imprisoned souls. Saemey Wirewhisker scrawls an arcane symbol on the ground with an odd powder and places the orb in its center. He then begins reciting an incantation and waving his arms over the symbol and orb. Moments later the orb shatters and an apparition appears.

Your faction standing with Kejek Village has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Peace Keepers has been adjusted by 1.
      You gain experience!!

You receive a Shattered Soul Orb.

Giving one Kejek Spirit Powder and a Fading Soul Orb (from purifying either the Fading Shadow Rapier or the Fading Shadow Spear) to Mrowro Wirewhisker results in:

Mrowro Wirewhisker says 'I require a Fading Soul Orb and Kejek Spirit Dust in order to perform the ritual that will free the imprisoned souls. Mrowro Wirewhisker scrawls an arcane symbol on the ground with an odd powder and places the orb in its center. He then begins reciting an incantation and waving his arms over the symbol and orb. After just completing the quest last night, I'd like to add a couple of things.

    1. There is NO skill check in making the hammer. This is good to know before you go spending 200pp to raise your smithing skill like I did.... The only thing you might need smithing skill for is making the Large brick to get the hammer, however that is not no drop, and your favorite smith could probably do it for you pretty reasonably.

    2. Ghostback is the only Titan that gives this quest from what I've heard. Giang Xin will not respond to hails, so I assume that this is correct.

    3. If you're doing an armor piece, you don't need to bother with the spiritling stones. You only need to do the first part of the quest, the part with Emilye and the forge. I didn't feel this was clearly stated in the directions above.

Hope this helps any of you wanting to do the quest. If you have a piece from ToFS already, the rest is pretty easy :) Good luck!

You can definitely get a Soulforge Hammer from Giang Xin, I just did it tonight. He doesn't respond to hails, but if you just give him the Smithy Hammer, he will return the Soulforge Hammer and give you the "freeing spirits" message.

fyi He was KOS when I was in wolf-form, indiff when not.

Has anyone tried doing this quest with the Crystallized Shadow Tunic (which is actually a great chest item unlike the rest of the crystallized shadow crap)?

    -AND-

With the debate on what to do next... The quest involves collecting stuff from ToFS. Why has no one mentioned going back to ToFS to "finish" these quests. These may very well be related to the quest for the eighth floor key that has yet to be solved...

Ok. The spiritlings certainly aren't trivial to me, but every time I've gone hunting them I don't get any drop except the burned-out lightstone. I'm on Quellious. Is this quest just not live there yet, or what? Or are they really rare drops?

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 13 2001 at 8:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, so basically the soul orbs are just a waste of time? After you combine the hammer and weapon, you have your purified thing, so what's the point in finishing the rest if you don't get anything from it? And no, I don't care about the trapped soul, my concience will be just fine. $^#& em, they can wallow in torment! Also, how much could I get for the purified crystal dagger? thats the 4 charisma, 5 sv everything range slot dagger. I know some enchanters will pay for it, hehe. That's right, I'm heartless AND greedy. $^$%& you!
    RE: Orbs and Weapons
    # Oct 13 2001 at 1:06 PM Rating: Decent
The Orbs do appear to be pointless right now. I think they are to COMPLETE the quest. All if us doing this quest with the mind that we want the weapons, and the stone are a by-product. In truth it is the other way around. The THEORY is we want the orbs, that why there are so many items to get them from. It just so happens that either the quest is so friggan hard or broken none of us know what to do next, and we can get some decent mid lvl and twink gear from just doing half the quest.

Oh, and on a side note, the Large Brink is not STOCKED on the vendor, but you can almost always find 2 or 3 there from other players who sold it. I bought mine for 42p3g with Indiff faction. And with the new shiny NO DROP armor I have to wear on Rallos Zek, it was worth it.

I am at a loss as to what to do next.

I've released all sorts of spirits. I've released an Elder Va'shir Spirit (a willo-wisp looking thing), heritic apparitions (normal and faded sorts, looking like ghosts), and euridite apparitions (normal and faded sorts, looking like ghosts). I have tried handing a purified item to a released euridite apparition (no luck), I've tried handing shattered orbs to euridite apparitions, I've tried handing shattered orbs to the quest givers (no luck). I've tried following released spirits (apparitions just followed the path to the river and despawned, the Elder Va'shir spirit took off into the snowy mountains and went beyond a zone wall and my tracking got all fudged up so I couldnt follow). I've heard unconfirmed rumors that the purified tunic is NO RENT (could indicate a quest continuation... but then again Verant has been known to mistakenly make items NO RENT that should not have been before... like the druid mid-epic piece when it first came out). I have tried killing the apparitions (though not the Va'shir spirit as of yet) to no ends. I tried giving some spirit powder to the Elder va'shir spirit (nothing). I'd like to try giving shattered orbs to the Titan spirits (like Old Ghostback), but they always seem to be DEAD *rolls eyes*.

A quest ending leaving you with shattered orbs and an un-conversational spirit seems kinda anti-climatic. Never feels like the end of a quest until some NPC says "Mighty fine job there, partner. ", which in this quest either does not exist, or has not yet been discovered.

I keep checking on this page in hopes that someone might provide me with a clue where to go next... and if there is a next to this quest. *shrug*

Oh, and last I checked the spiritling stones no longer fall under TLC (I got them from super greenie mobs at level 57). People report that the number of spirit powders for handing in the spiritling stones varying between 2 - 4 randomly.

    Saemy Wirewhisker
    Mrowro Wirewhisker
    Disciple Okarote
    Yuio Kaliio
    Khonza Ayssla
    Shazda Kaekwon

The disciple and either khonza or shazda thanked me for my donation. The other 5 had no response at all.

I wasn't able to try giving them to the apparitions, because they woulda had me for lunch, but that seems like the next reasonable thing to try. Those or the titans. Just need some more crys shadow junk... time to send my main back to ToFS. :)

so verant didnt actually test it before it went live. what else is new. Hell, with their beloved trivial loot code, you cant actually do this quest by yourself, or with a group of like level people. ask some oldtimers about the original firey avenger quest, the one they swore was in for over a year, but no one was ever able to start it, let alone finish it. then they finaly put it in when plane of sky went live. Just keep /bug and /reporting it, and in another year or two, they will fix it.

As of 9/30/01 giving the three spiritling stones to the NPC will result in three powders, not two.

Looking for small blocks of HQ ore to make hammer? Check out jail merchant in Highhold Keep. Players sell to her all the time. Or, better yet, just auction in that zone. Many players happy to sell it. Trivial on making Large block of HQ ore is 77.

Spiritling stones still fall under Trivial code in Stonebrunt, so if you are too high level, auction for them and overpay the lowbies. Most people are happy to unload them.
Doing Kejek quests the hard way.
    # Sep 13 2001 at 12:51 PM Rating: Good
First,HQ ore is not normally sold as merchant inventory-it is best found in Highpass Keep,as the goblins there in the basement drop it regularly.

If you can't get a large brick,3 small ones + flask of water in a forge make one large brick. Get at least a middling smith to forge it for you, though it doesn't take a master(less than 100) to be reliable.

Oak shafts are found sold at the same vendors that sell weapons molds.

Have someone with you that can invis you. Go invis, get behind the person you want to give the quest items to. Open the trade window with them. Have your partner invis you AGAIN at this point.

Hand in the items and hit "trade". Success.

Note this will NOT work on the Titans,as they see invisible creatures. Thus, you'll have to do other quests/parts of quests to get to at least apprehensive to finish this one. Making spirit powder or repeatedly doing the hammer-making should work.

The Hammer, once blessed, is tradeable (this may be a bug) so you can get someone that's not hated by the Kejekans to get it made and blessed, then pass it on to you.

OK I found it, Like people said it is in High Hold Keep. Just go buy it from the vendor next to the banker. No one in zone had it, but he vender sold it to me for the low low bargain price of 42plat. But it was worth it, I got 3 swords I sold and a no drop bracer from the quest so far.

    My Experience
    # Sep 10 2001 at 10:16 AM Rating: Good
I've completed the first part of the quest (getting the Soulforge, and freeing several spirits from faded shadow crystallized shadow weapons). Here are some things that I learned that I hope will help others:

High Quality Ore: I had no idea where this dropped, or where Small Bricks of High Quality Ore dropped (three small bricks + water= 1 large brick, trivial at 76). I finally went to High Pass, and was able to buy small bricks of HQ ore off the Jail Merchant for about 15 plat each. (These drop in here, and people sell them to the merchant). I went to freeport and a mastersmith was able to make a Large Brick for me out of the Small Bricks. (I had him make two, just in case).

Titans: Gian Yin was up, but wasn't responding to my hails. Turns out, he was aggro on someone who was running to the zone. I ran behind Gian, gave him the Kejek Smithy Hammer, and got the Soulforge Hammer.

Forging: When you put the Soulforge Hammer and Faded or Crystallized weapon or armor in the Kejek forge, it will work with a smithing level of 1. (It may work at zero, as it's a quest, but I put 1 point into smithing before trying it to be on the safe side). I doubt a skill check is even done as this is a quest...

Faded Shadow Scimitar: As someone else mentioned in a post, the Faded Shadow Scimitar doesn't currently work fully: you will get an orb back, but not a weapon. I'm sure they'll fix this, so if you want to try it /petition to have a GM watch you try.

How to get the weapons: If you spend any time in ToFS, you'll get the weapons. I was able to get a half-dozen weapons off the vendors at the igloos in Iceclad near the ToFS. They cost about 74 plat each (what the hey, I had some extra plat). It's the Crystallized Shadow Scimitar I want to purify for my druid, so I'm going to spend some time in ToFS this week hoping to get it.

    -Orphanstar
Hey, don't beg for plat or items--it will just get you added to /ignore lists of characters who may otherwise help you out.

If all you want is the armor, then what is the point of doing the orbs? Looks like you purify the armor piece and get back an orb and the purified item. If you just wanted the armor or weapon, destroy the orb yourself. Why bother with the rest unless there is a point to the remaining orb pieces?
