Actually, very easy zone to navigate, just obviously not by map. The right boat is banking, TS, so forth, the left boat you can find spell merchants in the bottom of it.

Use Fine, it's easy to get around.

Best way there is via the Magus, which everyone should have their Adventurer's Stone anyways.

As of a recent patch, players without Adventurer's Stones can use the magus
in the guild lobby now to get to Abys

This is THE most retarded zone in the game. It's impossible to find anything here if you haven't already spent a ludicrous amount of time IN this zone, which is pointless since it's not an XP zone. The FIND command responds to every query with "Mysterious forces prevent you from finding... <blah><blah><Blah>". It's NOT "mysterious forces".... it's incompetent designers!

I'd never step one foot into this zone if there was ANYWHERE else in the game, no matter HOW FAR AWAY and HOW HARD TO GET TO, no matter how many times my toon would die in the attempt, to access the items in question.

Yes, I'm aggravated over how much time I've had to waste in this hell-hole of a zone to buy a spell! ;)

Considering the fact that a person needs an adventurer's stone to get here how can this be a 1-70 zone when you need to be at least 15 to get an adventurer's stone.
Maybe when the boats were working it could be a 1-70 zone but not any more, seems like someone needs to do an update on this and what is here. Yes I know it is considered a city zone and I do most of my beginning tradeskills here. So if this is a 1-70, city, zone how come no one can use this as their home city?

Sheyel is correct. You can get to Nederia's landing through Jaggedpine forest, and the Magus there will port you to Abysmal Sea without requiring an adventure stone.

Exactly how do you get to Nedaria's Landing through Jaggedpine? I have been looking, but have been unable to find the zone line. I don't know if my map is simply out of date or what, but I can't the zone line. Thanks!

Curious about levels
# Dec 21 2005 at 9:59 PM Rating: Decent
I notice this page says levels 1-70, but when I look at the mob list the lowest npc is 40-40, are any of these mobs KOS to any race or class. Main thing can I bring my 20 lev to this zone without getting whacked, to buy chainmail patterns and such?
RE: Curious about levels
# Feb 01 2006 at 10:32 AM Rating: Decent
The reason it says lev 1-70, is that there are NO mobs. There are NPCs..this is the same as a city zone. You do trade skills, buy/sell, and mostly simple quest.

This isn't a game. Its a website about the game. EverQuest is NOT webpage-based. See a computer games shop to buy.. I'd suggest waiting til Everquest Titanium is out. Warning, though, EQ is pricy with its regularly increasing monthly fees. Still, for those of us who play it, we find it worthwhile.

Thank you Sassisa, very nearly crystal clear. The only addition which I had to do a bit of additional research on was the requirement of the adventurers stone, and that might be common knowledge now. I am coming back to the game from before the necessities of these items.

Thanks for you post though, I've found it now :)

I started in the Guild Lobby, though you can start at any Wayfarer's camp.
I found Magus Alaria
/say Nedaria
....Loading please wait...
You have entered Nedaria's Landing
Now find Magus Wenld
at location pos 1018 pos 1527
/say Abysmal Sea
.....Loading please wait...
You have entered The Abysmal Sea.

No keys, coins, flags. You do, however, have to purchase the expansion.

Let me start by saying that I know much of this information is incorrect, I just wanted to put down something to show that I have looked around for this info before making this post.

So far, I have figured out that you need to get to the 'book' type thing (like for PoK) in the bear cave in Surefall, which I've found, and there is supposed to be one in the bottom of Black Burrow. I've tried to 'click in' but wasn't able to. I read somewhere something about a coin... don't know what that's about though.

I read that you get to abysmal sea on a boat from Natimbi (or however you spell it) which seems weird cause it's a higher lvl zone and abysmal sea seems like a zone for all levels.

You get to Natimbi from Nedaria's Landing and you get there by hailing someone and saying Nedaria or something... (I know that is wrong but it was something like that.)

That's all I could find out. If anyone knows anything it would be appreciated.

I recommend Eq Mapfiend part of EQtoolboxfor cartogrophy maps, follow the directions on the site, if you already started your own cart map it will be replaced by the one you download.

You might also want to try EQ Zoneviewer which lets you explore EQ zones offline in first person mode (no mobs)It uses the sony data files that EQ uses to build the zones, but lets you explore it offline. Definitely recomended for rogues that want to get their epic peice in hate but have never been there before. A walkthrough is an imense help.

As a druid I zoned into Abysmal to try to find the supposed new OoW port to Barindu. I tried to use Find to locate Verna Leinar, the teleports spell vendor. She does not show on Tracking, no matter where I am on the boat, and the Find function will not work: I get a message saying something like "Mystical forces prevent you from finding..."

Is this a post-OoW patch bug or is this another annoying Sony "feature, working as intended" ?
RE: Find not working?
# Aug 25 2005 at 9:45 AM Rating: Decent
The Port Spells in Absymal Sea can be found with find feature under Transportation Spells.
For Those new to Absymal sea, I would suggest also mark the Magus on your map. Just down the stairs is Gizzu the Wise, I would Mark her also. If you are a non gater...will help in getting back to magus. AS, is a very big zone.

McDonalds Managers are a piece of cake for a 26th bard. They are high greens (still give a little xp) and don't aggro. In fact if you pull one the McDonalds staff around seem to join in on your side.
These guys spawn pretty quickly (6mins) and are good xp for your low 20's after you've finished hunting the regular staff.
They don't drop much in the way of cash (few gold) and their drops are pretty worthless at the lvl you would be hunting them. So far I've got Potato Chips (sometimes 2 or three at a time), a Spatula of Frying (Uncommon 1HB 2/30 MAGIC) and Pen of Indecision (Rare -4Int fits in Ranged) and an Apron of Lard (Common Chest armour All/All AC4 -25Chr) and an Employee of the Month Certificate (Very Rare +5Chr Effect: Blinding Flash, also fits in ranged - quite nice too). All these items are Magic, Lore and No Drop so I'm guessing that they are for a quest. Theres a few guys over at Burger King that I've heard are Quest NPC, I might try hailing a few and seeing what they have to say.
I'll keep you posted.
