Also found on the an elemental crusader in The Ruins of old Paineel.
Also drops from various mobs in Katta Castrum. I picked up four so far and each from a different mob.
This used in the quest to get the Expert Halfling armor. What i have so far:
1) Kill 50 Elemental Warriors in The Hole
2) Collect 10 Drops of Mercury
3) Return to Bill Whistletop and give him four Drops of Mercury
4) Kill five Elemental Monstrosities
5) Collect one Drop of Mercury
6) Return to Bill Whistletop and give him the Mercury
Can do all of these kills just at the entrance when you zone into the hole.

For DoN cultural progression, these MUST come from The Hole or it will not flag you for progression.
contrary to all that other madness you hear a lot, these are not common they are quite uncommon actually im on number 76 right now, and still only looted 7, 3 to go until i got first half of task completed for Experts...

According to recipes, a Drop of Mercury can be also be made by Rogues (Make Poison skill 200). The recipe calls for 1 Gnomish Spirits and 1 Mercuric Ore combined in a Mortar and Pestle.
However, not just any Rogue can make it. A Rogue must already have a skill of 200 to even attempt a combine.
Drop of Mercury is used as a component in at least 11 advanced poison recipes including:
Bite Of The Shissar (>250)
Dreams Of Drusella (>250)
Mangled Tendon(>250)
Mayong’s Bane (>250)
Mental Implosion (>250)
Oozing Irritation (>250)
Rage of Incapacitation (>250)
Scoriae Bite (>250)
Scratching Madness (>250)
Spine Rend (>250)
Wasted Flesh (>250)

I was combining these with Comfrey this morning in my medicine bag. Seems they no longer combine to make the tamed mercury. I reported the bug, and he said that someone would look into it. I have combined these before to make my haste potion, just messing around. My alchemy was about 50 then when I tried. It is now 80, so it is still a task. I was farming elementals in the hole to get these. Of course with a friend, it is ruff down there alone for a 48 lvl shaman. I would say that this more of uncommon drop. They sell in bazaar from 15pp to 40pp. Luckily I only bought 15 comfrey at 23pp a pop. I would have really been upset if I did not farm the mercury. I can just save it though so no biggie.

I would not say they are a common drop in Twilight Sea. They were easier and more common in Najena in my opinion. I hunted both places and resulted in only 5 in Twilight and 20 plus in Najena in about the same time.
How long would it take to collect 40 of these in Nejena?

They are very common on Earth Elementals in the Twilight Sea zone. Mostly green and light blue to a 35:th lvl

It is not used to make a drink; it's for a smithing temper.
I collected quite a few of these off the elementals in Najena (not to be confused with the magicians' pets).

I've gotten this off of Earth Elementals in Steamfont, although it is a rare drop off of them.
