This is a shared task (1-6 players) that begins by handing a "Sealed Message" (dropped by "a Sebilisian messenger") to any of the Ring of Scale dragons in the Field of Scale. The message reads as follows:

You must recapture that sarnak. Failure will not be acceptable.

*The dragons may be interested in an escaped sarnak. You should show this note to one of them.

Note: No other "Sealed Message" will work. Only the one with the above text will work for this task.

Jaled`Dar says 'Well, that's very interesting. We need to locate this escapee before the Iksar do. Track down the escapee quickly and perhaps we can learn something from him.'

You have been assigned the task 'Sarnak Recovery'.

You have been asked to prevent the Iksar from recovering any of their escaped Sarnak slaves. You have also been asked to question some escaped slaves to find out if the Iksar are interested in information that they might have. Get that information, kill the Iksar sent to hunt Sarnak, and return with your information to Trakanon.

Kill 3 Sebilisian Trackers 0/3 (Field of Scale)

Find the Escaped Sarnak with information 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Fight escaped Sarnaks until you get one to confess. Make sure you don't pet tank this - you may not get the emote if you do. Beat it down to around 20% and and do NO DAMAGE until the mob either responds to you and updates task, responds that it won't surrender, or starts to flee. If either of the last two occur, kill it and pull the next mob.

Find the hatchery 0/1 (Field of Scale)

This updates in the southeast area, in the building which leads to the Hatchery entrance. Loc: -1940, -500

Kill four sokokar hatchlings 0/4 (Field of Scale)

Speak with Trakanon 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Trakanon was displeased with your results, but he did not devour you. He must like you. Even newly hatched the Sokokar were dangerous creatures. If enough of them come into play on the battlefield here the dragons may be hard-pressed to maintain control of the air.

    Step 2:
Find the Sarnak with information about Iksar plans...
    * Sarnak you need is on zone map ...
** if you are high level, it will be almost impossible to dps mob to 20% without killing...
HINT: if your toon can use a bow, or throwing weapons, etc
    1. 1st root mob in some way that does NOT do damage
    2. then use low damage bow or throw weapons
this will allow u to control amount of damage without killing mob
when mob is at 20% or lower get close and in about 10 seconds or less you get update....
    dont kill escaped

Only 4 or 5 "escaped" mobs are up at the same time. Often you dont get update in one cycle but you dont have to kill them. Memblur or evac of aggro, the same mob that didnt give update can do it the second time you get it below 20%.

This didn't seem to work for me. I've just spent an hour trying to get an update, kiting with my druid and controlling the damage very carefully....several times after not getting the emote, I'd memblur with my enchanter, let it regain some health (varied, but never all the way back to 100%) and they would run, but I never got another "You'll get nothing me from me" trying the memblur method. Any more details on how to get that doggone update would be appreciated. Not liking doing this task once, let alone three times :S

    Thanks!

As is stated in the previous post, there is no need to keep hunting down mobs if you have the ability to lose aggro or memblur the mob.

I had "an escaped sarnak oracle" that I beat down to 20% and he gave me the response "You'll get nothing from me! I battle to the death." I then proceeded to Ensnare and Flusterbolt.

Once he lost aggro and regenerated I beat him down to 20% a second time... this time he responded..."Stop hitting me! I'll tell you want you want to know!" and I received a task update.

confirmed method to get update 2
    # Mar 04 2010 at 7:20 AM Rating: Decent
Here is how you can get the update for the escaped sarnak without hassle, for me it worked first time. For this strat, you will need at minimum root and some form of memblur.

    1. Set up somewhere where you won't get adds to distract you

    2. Beat down the escaped sarnak to 22% (you can use mercs or pets if you wish, I did it with just pet and merc to prove the point that it can be done)

    3. Root the sarnak at around 22%, stop all damage, pull away all pets and mercs out of melee range.

    4. This is the key step - memblur the escaped sarnak. This will ensure that a player with the task will be at the top of the aggro list, because after the memblur, he will be the only one on the aggro list :)

    5. Have a player who is in the task (in my case I used the player who requested the task) to nuke the sarnak with a relatively low level nuke to avoid doing excessive damage. Re-root as needed. The idea is to get him to 20% health, not to zoom past that to 17% or whatever.

    6. Pause a few seconds between nukes to see if you get the update. In my case I got the update when his health was at 20%, standing far away well out of hail range, without hailing.

Don't use pet and don't use mercenary as tank or you will never get the update for step 2.

    can be kited.

    no hail is needed.

If you right click on the "Sealed Message" it will allow you to read it. This is how you will be able to find out the quest you will get.

Am now discovering that you just have to keep handing over more sealed messages until you get a new task. Be warned, you lose the sealed message, so have a few extras on you!

The Sarnak Recovery tasks have a lockout timer of +4 1/2 hours. Upon success of 1st task, I attempted to turn in a second sealed message, I received this tell: "You may not request this shared task because you must wait 0d:4h:33m before you can do another task of this type."

There is no way of telling them apart. Since there is 3 tasks with the same name it will start with the first task and will give ya the second on the next turn in , ect...
Being a necro I always use the pet to tank/offtank. I got the update without any problems , just had to get the right Sarnak for it thats all. No ya dont need to hail the sarnak for the update it will give ya the emote at 19% health.

That did not happen to me. I completed the one task and then upon the next turn in maybe 6 or so hours later i got the same exact task to do again. To say the least this is frustrating. EDIT: Okay after doing it i tried to get another one right away while i still had the replay timer on the previous sarnak recovery task. I did in fact get a new one so that seems to be the way it has to be done.
Double EDIT: Once i completed both the tasks and while i still had the replay timers i turned in the scroll again and got the third task. So before you start doing these things make sure you have at least 2 copies of the same scroll on you so once you finish the task the first time you can hand in second one and get a different one right away.

    Sealed Message

Short of turning them in and progressing down the task, anyone know how to tell the difference between the Sealed Message that reads:

You must recapture that sarnak. Failure will not be acceptable.

*The dragons may be interested in an escaped sarnak. You should show this note to one of them.

fot this message and the exact same quoted message for the other two tasks?

    Pet/merc tank problem

I think I've figured out (after much aggravation) the problem with the pet/merc tank. It seems that the individual tanking the sarnaks MUST be in the task.

I don't know what specifically qualifies "tanking the mob" as far as the task is concerned, since my pet would tank from 100%, and my girlfriend's Shaman would tank from 30% to 0%, and the sarnak would run away every time with no emote or update. This was done both with and without spamming hails at the sarnaks.

We added an SK to tank, but neglected to add her to the task and had the exact same effect - she tanked from 100% to 0% with no task update or emote, hails or no. Once in the task, we got the update with no hails.

    Partly True
    # Feb 10 2009 at 10:21 AM Rating: Decent
It's true about the pets, if Pet tanks you will not get the text either way.

You do not need to hail the mob, it will give the text no matter what, we think that if you kill it too quickly it doesn't get the chance to give the text so we eased off on Dps at 30% til it gave text.

    1. Make sure you don't pet tank this - you won't get the emotes right with you do. This is similar to the bug that was occuring in a Library task, but they didn't fix the FOS mobs when they fixed that.
    2. To get the emote, you beat it down to around 20% and then start hailing with NO DAMAGE until the mob either responds to you and updates task, responds that it won't surrender, or starts to flee. If either of the last two occur kill it and pull the next mob.
