Eron Nurwistle may be found on top of a windmill, at +800, -550. You must have an unmodified skill of at least 250 in Jewelcraft before you may receive this task.

You say, 'Hail, Eron Nurwistle'

Eron Nurwistle says 'What hey! No, you cannot take me. I will not go back. [Meldrath] will not get me again. I will not [wait] here for you to bring him.'

You say, 'Wait?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Why should I wait? You only want to take me [back].'

You say, 'Back?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Are you saying you don't want to take me back? Well then what do you want? I suppose you are one of those adventuring types that wants another [adventure].'

You say, 'I want adventure.'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Well, if you want an adventure you will have to listen to my [story]. The more people that hear my story, the more that I hope will go and try and kill the maniac.'

You say, 'What story?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'It was long ago, when I was still young and nimble. I met this spectacular gnome. He was the most vibrant and brilliant gnome I had ever met. His creations were mind boggling. The most exquisite and complex creations I have ever seen. I am not sure I even want to speak his name. He tried to kill me, and all but succeeded, after nearly one hundred years of service, all because I wanted to [leave].'

You say, 'Leave?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'I am getting ahead of myself in the story. You see Meldrath, yes Meldrath is the gnome I have been talking about. Don't look so stunned. Whom else could I be talking about? You don't think I was talking about [Geerlok]?'

You say, 'Geerlok?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Bah. He is a rank amateur. To think you would compare Meldrath to Geerlok and his family. One of his brilliance is so far above the silly puttering about that they engage in that even I am insulted that you would compare them, I who hate Meldrath with all my being. But again, I am getting distracted, just don't compare Meldrath to any others again. I have been in his employ for so long I have lost track of the years. While I may not have been one of his troopers, I was a loyal assistant to his tinkering. I learned more than I ever would have on my own, and even then I only comprehend the smallest fraction of what he constructs. I felt honored to help him, up until the very end of my [service].'

You say, 'What service?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'I served him by assisting in the tinkering. It was thrilling work. As I have mentioned before, his designs are pure brilliance. Rarely does he need to work on something more than once. The only thing that I saw him struggle with was the gyrospire that he tried to build with a magical steam catapult. I believe that he was trying too much to make a mix of magic and tinkering, but in the end it has worked brilliantly and I believe that it will lead to his ultimate victory unless someone kills him. But again, I am getting distracted, I think I was too long in his employ. Over the years his insanity got no better, and seemed to only deepen. It took nearly the whole century that I worked for him, but I finally came to understand the true depth of his insanity and decided I must [depart] his employ.'

You say, 'Depart?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Well of course he did not take it well. He tried to kill me! Me, after I had helped him for so long. So are you [willing] to help me?'

You say, 'I am willing.'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Ah, so you are an adventurer, good. While I want to extract a portion of revenge, I fully understand that a single adventurer will not be enough to kill Meldrath. So instead I will just have you do a few tasks that will hurt his operations. Being inside so long I know just what to hit. At the same time, that is not enough. I understand that you adventurers do not help folks with revenge out of the kindness of your hearts. You will want a reward. This reward is actually a project I want to see done even more than I want revenge on Meldrath. I know that seems out of the blue, but as I have mentioned, I have been around Meldrath for too long and my thought processes are no longer very linear. I will actually want you to make a piece of [jewelry].'

You say, 'Jewelry?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. Jewelry. I have an idea for a piece of jewelry that is highly configurable. It came to me while I was working on the guardian one day. It would seem to be a simple idea, a chain that can just be altered to fit in different ways. In one long loop of chain will fit around a waist, but looping it twice will make it work as a nice pendant. Loop it four times and it will fit on a wrist. For the ear, the looping is complex, but still simple enough and it will fit, and over a finger it is just a continual loop, that still leaves ample flexibility. But despite all of this it will require someone with superb skills at jewelry making to do this, and I just do not have the talent for it. That is where I [need] someone like you.'

You say, 'Need?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. While I am a master tinker, I just cannot seem to get the finesse of jewelry making. While you will probably need to have the skills of a master jeweler, I am willing to risk my designs on an expert jeweler. But if you are not at least an expert jeweler I will not even assign you the tasks, even the ones for revenge, as I do not want you coming back later expecting payment that I will not have for you. So if you have the skills let me know that you are [interested] and I will give you the first task. While this first task would seem to have nothing to do with Meldrath, it will still harm him. Though the [minotaurs] have nothing to do with Meldrath, I have not been totally idle while I have been recovering. But there I go again, non linear.

You say, 'What minotaurs?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'These minotaurs do no work for Meldrath, but despite that he is somehow getting some of the crystals they mine. I do not know if he is buying them or if he is stealing them from them, but it is still a source for him. Additionally I have managed to plant a seed of suspicion in the minotaurs. I believe that by killing them, Meldrath will actually catch the blame and the minotaurs will rally against him.'

You say, 'I am interested.'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Good, you have the skills necessary to have a chance at this task. I need you to get some ore that can be used in order to make the jewelry. This ore already has magical properties and is only found in small amounts. Meldrath and the inhabitants of Dragonscale mountains are consumed with gathering faycite crystals. They are so consumed with it that they do not even notices the traces of ore that have been imbued with the magic that the crystals contain. Now this ore does not come in large amounts, so you will have to kill many miners in order to get the ore you need.'

You have been assigned the task 'Not So Simple Jewelry'.

  • 1. Loot 12 Dragonscale Ore Fragment 0/12 (Dragonscale Hills)

These are dropped by miners outside the Minotaur cave to the southwest.

  • 2. Purify the Dragonscale Ore 0/1 (ALL)

Combine 3 x Dragonscale Ore Fragment + 1 x Gnomish Heat Source to craft Purified Dragonscale Ore in a Jeweler's Kit, trivial 100. Do this four times.

  • 3. Give all 4 pieces of the purified ore to Eron Nurwistle so he can inspect it 0/4 (Dragonscale Hills)

    There is no dialogue here.

  • 4. Speak with Eron after he has had time to inspect it and you have a bag slot available 0/1 (Dragonscale Hills)

Make sure you have a top inventory slot open for this step.

Eron says, " You will need some bag space available. Come back once you free up a slot."

If you hail before one minute has passed:

Eron says 'Give me a moment. You don't expect me to tell the quality at a glance do you?'

If you hail after one minute has passed:

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes, this is of the appropriate grade, thank you. Here is what you will need for the next step of its construction. The book contains the recipe instructions, and you will need two of the pieces of ore. Additionally in the bag is a mold that is reusable, and almost impossible to break unlike other jewelry molds. Despite having the mold and the instruction, the chain is extremely difficult to make and will tax your skills greatly. You may have to go get more ore and try again.'

You receive a Jeweler's Kit, Eron's Simple Jewelry Notes, 4 x Purified Dragonscale Ore, and Eron's Configurable Chain and Setting Mold.

  • 5. Create 2 Eron's Configurable Chain using tradeskills 0/2 (ALL)

Combine 2 x Purified Dragonscale Ore + 1 x Eron's Configurable Chain and Setting Mold in the Jeweler's Kit to craft Eron's Configurable Chain, trivial 400. You get the mold back. You also get a Half Bar of Purified Dragonscale Ore upon success. Do this twice.

  • 6. Create 2 Eron's Setting using tradeskills 0/2 (ALL)

Combine 1 x Half Bar of Purified Dragonscale Ore + 1 x Eron's Configurable Chain and Setting Mold in the Jeweler's Kit to craft Eron's Setting, trivial 250. You get the mold back. Do this twice.

  • 7. Create 2 Eron's Simple Jewelry using tradeskills 0/2 (ALL)

Combine 1 x Eron's Configurable Chain + 1 x Eron's Setting in the Jeweler's Kit to craft Eron's Simple Jewelry, trivial 100. Do this twice.

NOTE: As the resulting item in this combine is lore, you'll have to combine one and hand it in before attempting the second one.

  • 8. Give Eron both of the Simple Jewelry you made. 0/2 (Dragonscale Hills)

Eron has taken what is in his judgement the best of the jewelry you have made, and given the other.
    You gain experience!!

A reward window pops up and you can choose between the melee version or the caster version of Eron's Simple Jewelry.

Eron Nurwistle says 'This is a fine piece of work. You truly are skilled. For the next task you must be a highly skilled [potter].'

Completing this task unlocks the next task in the series, "Clay Within the Beast."

I gathered the ores before getting the quest thinking I could update the "loot 12 ores" step by handing them to an NPC or pet/merc this however did not work on this quest. Just FYI for others doing this. Get the quest first! I had to gather 12 more which was a whole new time sink, also FYI the miners in the minotaur mines to the south drop these way more often which I had forgotten about until someone PLing in the zone reminded me about. I cleared both areas and got 12 within 30 minutes.

This is no longer correct, the quest must have been updated at some stage. The line of text...

I was curious about this, so when at this stage tonight on two alts, I started by clearing my last bag (lower right), and still got the message that I had to clear a spot. I cleared the bottom left, and still got the message, but as soon as I cleared the 4th down on the right I was able to get the Jeweler's Kit.

Since I was doing this stage on two toons, I used the other to test the 3rd bag down on the left. I cleared the last slot (lower right), and got the message. I then replaced that bad and cleared the 3rd down on the left, and received the kit.

My assumption is that any of the top 8 slots can be clear, because I believe at the time of release, we only had 8 bag slots.

After using my original Eron's Jewelry in making the Artisan's Prize, I thought I'd redo the quest. No matter what I've tried I cannot get the little nomer to give me the quest again. Anyone else have any luck or am I the only crazy one that wants to do it again?

Eron's Simple Jewelry is lore so you can't make two at once.
Make one, give it to Eron, which he keeps and then make the 2nd one and give it to him.
The quest will be over and your prize will be the 2nd piece of Jewelry

Before you can create a configurable chain, you must read and scribe the Enron's simple jewelry notes.

If you do not, you get a message saying:

"This seems correct but something is wrong. Perhaps you need to know something more in order to combine this"

Not sure if anyone knows. I was wondering if the two items are lore against each other, as well as lore versus different steps. IE theoretically could you have a step 7 melee and a step 6 caster?

I've finished every combine so far up until the very last one, where I have to combine "Eron's Reconfiguration Pattern" with "Eron's Simple Second Setting Jewelry", also using an uncut combine star somehow...mentions crushing it. You don't have to do anything with the uncut combine star just combine the 3 items together in the jewel kit.

I've done combine in a Reinforced Jeweler's Kit, so it's Jewelry tradeskill.
    Trivial is 100.
The heat source, as well as the Dragonscale Ore Fragment, is consumed during the combine to create the purified dragonscale ore.

Before giving the purified ore, when you hail Eron, you will see : Hrm. Are you done with the task yet?

Half Bar of Purified Dragonscale Ore is created during the previous combine as well as the Eron's Configurable Chain.

Give Eron both of the Simple Jewelry you made. (0/2) - Dragonscale Hills

The mold is not useful in that combine ! Just combine 1 x Eron's Configurable Chain + 1 x Eron's Setting to get 1 x Eron's Simple Jewelry. As it is LORE, you have to hand it in to Eron before doing second combine.

After both combines and turn in, he gives you one Eron's Simple Jewelry (greedy guy !) as well as offering you the next quest involving Pottery...

You can get the first 5 tasks at level 75 and do whatever you can for any of them. Just say "Pottery", "Baking", "Blacksmithing", "Fletching" to get the tasks.

The 6th is "Brewing" and 7th is "Tailoring", but you must be at least 79 (probably 80) to get started on those.

2nd Task is called..........Clay Within the Beast

To get the task, just follow along after completing the first task.

He will give you a scroll called Eron's Ceramic Setting Notes. Scribe to "learn" the recipes (if you don't you will not be able to do the combines).

    Steps are:

    1) Loot 14 Twitching Soot (The Mechamatic Guardian)
    2) Loot 2 Blue Gem Grade Faycite (The Mechamatic Guardian)

These steps are done inside the giant Robot you see in Dragonscale. This is an instanced zone and you need a group mission to get inside (otherwise he will kick you hard).

Overvolt Rigster the IV in Dragonscale (near the cannon) gives a group mission that is nothing more than allowing you to go into this zone for XP and tasks. The mission has no point otherwise. Just say to him, "Head into" to get the mission.

Fair warning -- this is a HIGH end zone. 2K hitters. You WILL need a good group. The Faycite will drop randomly as you make your way thru the zone. The soot will only drop from the dervishes and you will not find them until you get a good ways into the zone..

    THIRD TASK IS BAKING

It is called....Food for the Injured.

He gives you a scroll called Eron's Froglegs and Reconfiguration.

    Read it and scribe it.

I'll post more after I get it done, if no one else does.

On a side note, there is a Book called Fishing of Secrets. This book reveals the recipes for the 3rd task. It is sold by Overvolt (same mission giver noted above).

    You say, 'Hail, Eron Nurwistle'

Eron Nurwistle says 'What hey! No, you cannot take me. I will not go back. [Meldrath] will not get me again. I will not [wait] here for you to bring him.'

    You say, 'wait'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Why should I wait? You only want to take me [back].'

    You say, 'back'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Are you saying you don't want to take me back? Well then what do you want? I suppose you are one of those adventuring types that wants another [adventure].'

    You say, 'adventure'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Well, if you want an adventure you will have to listen to my [story]. The more people that hear my story, the more that I hope will go and try and kill the maniac.'

    You say, 'story'

Eron Nurwistle says 'It was long ago, when I was still young and nimble. I met this spectacular gnome. He was the most vibrant and brilliant gnome I had ever met. His creations were mind boggling. The most exquisite and complex creations I have ever seen. I am not sure I even want to speak his name. He tried to kill me, and all but succeeded, after nearly one hundred years of service, all because I wanted to [leave].'

    You say, 'leave'

Eron Nurwistle says 'I am getting ahead of myself in the story. You see Meldrath, yes Meldrath is the gnome I have been talking about. Don't look so stunned. Whom else could I be talking about? You don't think I was talking about [Geerlok]?'

    You say, 'Geerlok'

    You say, 'service'

    You say, 'depart'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Well of course he did not take it well. He tried to kill me! Me, after I had helped him for so long. So are you [willing] to
    help me?'

    You say, 'willing'

    You say, 'jewelry'

    You say, 'need'

    You say, 'minotaurs'

Eron Nurwistle says 'These minotaurs do no work for Meldrath, but despite that he is somehow getting some of the crystals they mine. I do not know if he is buying them or if he is stealing them from them, but it is still a source for him. Additionally I have managed to plant a seed of suspicion in the minotaurs. I believe that by killing them, Meldrath will actually catch the blame and the minotaurs will rally against him.'

    You say, 'interested'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Good, you have the skills necessary to have a chance at this task. I need you to get some ore that can be used in order to make the jewelry. This ore already has magical properties and is only found in small amounts. Meldrath and the inhabitants of Dragonscale mountains are consumed with gathering faycite crystals. They are so consumed with it that they do not even notices the traces of ore that have been imbued with the magic that the crystals contain. Now this ore does not come in large amounts, so you will have to kill many miners in order to get the ore you need.'

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST AN EXPERT IN JEWELRYCRAFTING TO GET THIS TASK

You have been assigned the task 'Not So Simple Jewelry'

    Loot 12 Dragonscale Ore Fragments
<Dropped off miners outside the Minotaur cave to the Southwest>

    Purify the Dragbonscale Ore
<Combine 3 Dragonscale Ores and a Gnomish Heating Source to get 1 Purified Dragonscale Ore>

Give all 4 pieces of the purified ore to Eron Nurwistle so he can inspect it
<Hand Eron Nurwistle the 4 purified Dragonscale Ores>

Speak with Eron after he has had time to inspect it and you have a bag slot available

[If you hail before 1 minute you get]
Eron says, 'Give me a moment. You don't expect me to tell the quality at a glance do you?"

    [Hailing after 1 minute]
Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes, this is of the appropriate grade, thank you. Here is what you will need for the next step of its construction. The book contains the recipe instructions, and you will need two of the pieces of ore. Additionally in the bag is a mold that is reusable, and almost impossible to break unlike other jewelry molds. Despite having the mold and the instruction, the chain is extremely difficult to make and will tax your skills greatly. You may have to go get more ore and try again.'

<Receive: Jeweler's Kit, Eron's Simple Jewelry Notes, Purified Dragonscale Ore (4), Eron's Configurable Chain and Setting Mold>

Create 2 Eron's Configurable Chain using tradeskills
[Combine 2 Purified Dragonscale Ore and Eron's Configurable Chain and Setting Mold (trivial 400)]

Create 2 Eron's Setting using tradeskills
[Combine Half Bar of Purified Dragonscale Ore and Eron's Configurable Chain and Setting Mold (trivial 250)]

Create 2 Eron's Simple Jewelry using tradeskills
[Combine Eron's Configurable Chain and Eron's Setting and Eron's Configurable Chain and Setting Mold (trivial 100)]

Give Eron both of the Simple Jewelry you made
[Due to the item being lore, you must make one, turn it in, then make the 2nd one and then turn it in.]

Eron has taken what is in his judgement the best of the jewelry you have made, and given the other.
    You gain experience
You have been given: Eron's Simple Jewelry

Eron Nurwistle says 'This is a fine piece of work. You truly are skilled. For the next task you must be a highly skilled [potter].'

    You say, 'potter'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. Though Meldrath is brilliant, sometimes odd things happen and unintended, um, events happen. In the guardian some of the soot from the machinery has taken on a life of its own. I believe it is an interaction with the faycite crystals and the magics that he often uses to help his creations have that extra spark. But that is beside the point. The next step in making the jewelry and in my revenge lies within the [guardian].'

    You say, 'guardian'

Eron Nurwistle says 'I am sure you have seen it. It is the great lumbering beast that you see wandering about dragonscale hills. My next task for you is in there. You will need to talk to someone that calls himself Overvolt Rigster. He will know how you can get into the guardian, probably through the maintenance shaft in the foot. Do you want to [enter] the guardian? Since you will need to do some pottery in order to make the extra settings for the jewelry, you must be an expert potter for me to assign this task to you. Overvolt may also require you to bring some friends with you to allow entry into the guardian.'

    You say, 'enter'

You have been assigned the task 'Clay Within the Beast'.

Eron Nurwistle says 'Good good. Oh, you have a perplexed look on your face. Did I skip something again? Oh, what do you need pottery for? Simple, or really not so simple, but that is beside the point. When you destroy some of the soot being in the guardian, though they will always leave their soot behind, sometimes it will have just the correct consistency. This soot can then be made into spectacular clay that caries some of the animating forces of the well... soot. When you get the soot, you will make some clay, and then use this clay to make a special set of settings for the jewelry. Incidentally, when you are in the tower, you will need to gather two [crystals].'

    You say, 'crystals'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. It will actually be some of the faycite. This time I will make an exchange. While you are there find two blue gem grade faycite and give one to me. In return I will give you some clear faycite for use in the jewelry.'

You are correct and all indications are that as this quest progresses, it will require higher and higher levels.

Good Post.. let me add to it a bit.

The Dragonscale Ore drops from the Minotaur Miners in the far south west mine. Not the one at the fort/mine by the pond.

It also seems to drop up to three at a time. I strongly recommend you pull MOB's from the cave rather than go in -- as pathing is absolutely terrible there (they will run the wrong way and bring the entire mine back with them).

When you get Eron's Simple Jewelry Notes, don't forget to scribe it. You will not be able to try the combines until you do.

Actually, the ores do drop from the miners by the fort / pond area, as that is where I got all of my drops.

Actually they if they drop the Ore it was always 2 or 3 pieces at a time. I didn't kill one miner from inside the cave. there are circular tiered ledges outside the cave. I got on the highest tier to the south (left as you face the mines entrance.) None of the miners outside the cave pathed there, but did path around on the lower tiers. I just pulled a single at a time to me and killed. Never had 2 at a time and never a chance for trains. Good luck.
