Head Mage Antius says, 'Grave words indeed. Our peril is greater than we could have possibly imagined. The source of the power that fuels our Pellarus Satum -- the artifact at the height of our city -- and even the origins of the artifact itself are lost to us but perhaps the Avatar of Prexus has revealed the truth - the power of the Pellarus Satum is linked to another god of Norrath. Return to Elnot, I am sure he will want to hear of what we discovered here.'

This is a "mini-task" that follows the mission 'Locating the Statue'. It is required in order to upgrade your Combine Signet Ring, and is a required step for the Solteris flag.
It begins with the Prime Researcher. You say, 'Hail, Prime Researcher Elnot Waymun' Prime Researcher Elnot Waymun says 'Fantastic work! You really captured the details here, even some of the intricate designs surrounding the text. Unfortunately the text itself is a complete mystery to me but I think I know who we can turn to next. Seek out Head Mage Antius and give him this transcription. I am confident he will know what to do with it.' You have been assigned the task 'A City in Peril - Deliver the rubbing to the Head Mage'. Deliver the rubbing to the Head Mage Head Mage Antius is located at -104, -92, +7 in Katta Castrum. Give him the Etching Transcript from the "Locating the Statue" task. Head Mage Antius says 'Well, well, what do we have here? A rubbing of some ancient text, I see! Well Elnot was right to send you to me. I have recently acquired an artifact, with some small assistance by young Maladoks, that may prove [useful] here!' You say, 'Useful?' A loud voice fills the chamber as the last instructions from Prexus to the Kedge echo around you. 'A voice from the waves spoke to us, words for our ears alone. This doom is not your own but this doom will claim you still. No hand but mine will alter that which I create and any that dare will slumber in my realm for all time. So spoke Prexus on that day of fate.' As the last echoes of the words fade a sound like a crashing wave fills your ears. Head Mage Antius nods his head. 'Yes, let us see if this artifact can indeed unlock the mysteries of this text.' His hands begin to glow slightly as he releases a small trickle of power into the artifact in his left hand. Almost at once the page in his right hand begins to glow slightly. The Avatar of Prexus scowls at those around it.'This [doomed] city is not worthy to hear my words. I did all 8 of the missions out of order and mission 2 was last one.
It would not give me the task "A City in Peril - Deliver the rubbing to the Head Mage" after hailing Prime Researcher Elnot Waymun. My faction was warmly at the time.
Hailing Prime Researcher Elnot Waymun after becoming Ally to "Combine Empire Merchants" I was able to get the task, and complete other tasks for the 300 HP/Mana Combine Signet Ring.
It would not give me the task "A City in Peril - Deliver the rubbing to the Head Mage" after hailing Prime Researcher Elnot Waymun. My faction was warmly at the time.
Hailing Prime Researcher Elnot Waymun after becoming Ally to "Combine Empire Merchants" I was able to get the task, and complete other tasks for the 300 HP/Mana Combine Signet Ring.

when i get city of peril 2a it tells me to go to vizier and hail him when i do that my task is updated and poofs...it doesnt give me the (news) dialog like alla says it should ive tried everything and nothing works what can i do?

Hailing him is just giving me the same message about dark times as always. What do I say to the prime researcher to start this quest?
For this task specifically, you will need to have completed group missions 1 and 2 (Knowledge and Statue -- see "Related Quests" next to the description).
While the group tasks can be done out of order, the "City in Peril" tasks cannot. Start with this one, don't skip any dialogue, and work your way through it.

I've done both of the city in perils before this, as well as the two group missions. He's still not giving me anything special.

This quest gets bugged up easily.
To fix it, you need to go through all the talking portions of the mini-quests in order while avoiding the actual missions.
Mine got stuck after "locating the statue". To fix it I had to do the following:
1. Talk to Elnot. He gives the information about traveling to look at the statue. Say 'travel', and he tells you to talk to Maladoks.
Hail Maladoks and get a "quest completed".
Now go back to Elnot and hail him again. He should now ask you to deliver the inscription to Mage Antius.
Deliver your inscription and you should be back on track.

Is anyone able to get this task?
I completed the first 2 tasks and he wont give me this one.
I do get the 3rd task "Snakes are hiding Something" from Sodut, which I didnt complete yet, is my progress bugged?

the issue lies in no one has posted the exact text to reget the "deliver the rubbing" task which is where all the people that are bugged are getting stuck
even if you handed it in if you did it out of order you need to redo the text portion to repair the flags. so if anyone getsthe keyword to reget this mini task please post it .
also there are links to the mini tasks missing here can the board mods fix that 1 a does not show in the overview but is linked from the mission briefing

Got etching and had trouble handing it in too, had to keep going back and forth between Elnot? ( was a few weeks ago ) and Mage near tents.
Not sure how i did it, but he finally accepted and i got update.
I remember going through all the text again and think i got a mini task.
Sorry for lack of info, was here looking at something else and saw a few peeps having hand in probs.....hope this helps lol

I did the statue mission and have the etching, but when I go to turn it in he tells me he doesn't need it and gives it back.
etching you get after #2 = rubbing. don't make the mistake i did & destroy the etching!!

Should I have a "rubbing" in my inventory after completion of Locating the Statue? I think I might have been zoning when the final turnin was done. I did see the Task Complete yellow splash screen when I did zone into Katta. I've gone on to do task 3 to completion and now going back to do the hails 2.a 2.b I can't get any further with NPC's because I don't know where the rubbing is that I need to deliver?
