This task is the eighth and final group mission in a series for Solteris access. It follows the 'Slay the Serpent' task.

This task begins with Vizier Zio in Katta Castrum. Upon completion of the previous task:

Vizier Zio says 'That is strang indeed to hear! You slew the Empress and her guards but found no artifact? I was certain that the true Empress would have such a talisman. I will [search] on your behalf. You have been most helpful _____ and I would help you in return if I can. Return later and we will speak further.'

    You say, 'I will search'

Vizier Zio says 'The conspirators we face have guile beyond belief _____! You slew the Empress and yet I learned today that she lives again, or soon will! The traitors have devised a method of resurrection that will return the Empress to life very soon. Our only hope is to strike [now] when they are vulnerable. I am certain that such a ceremony will require a variety of powerful magical items and surely you will find something there that will aid your search.'

You have been assigned the task 'Stop the Ritual'.

    You say, 'Why now?'

Vizier Zio says 'Let this day see the end of this traitorous Empress _____. Enter Silyssar by the hidden entrance you told me of and follow the tunnel until you reach the Traitor's nest.'

Vizier Zio has studied your findings carefully, employing various scrying methods and other magical means of information gathering, only to find that Saarisz the Undying was indeed extremely powerful in the long lines of Shissar royalty, an Empress in fact. . . Saarisz has been resurrected by a quartet of the most powerful practitioners of the necromantic arts and is currently regaining her power.

You should investigate the teleporter a little closer before using Vizier Zio's teleport incantation. You should seek out Empress Saariz and her entourage of necromantic practitioners and dispatch them immediately, taking care to ensure they will no longer be a threat.

Investigate the Teleporter 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

Slay Ssahkra the Lich 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

Slay Ssakhar the Lich 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

Slay Ssakhra the Lich 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

Slay Ssahkar the Lich 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

Slay Empress Saarisz 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

Zone into Silyssar and move into the third temple. Once inside, take a left "down" into the temple instead of straight into the teleporter that would send you down to the surface again. Clear your way down until you reach the Empress and her cronies (she is midway down).

Upon entering the third temple you will begin to see emotes from the liches which are at the Empress's side. These emotes indicate what order the liches must be killed in.

The emotes look like this in game (the names here are an example -- which shissar does which emote is random and varies by task):

Ssakhar the Lich begins the ritual High Chant.

Ssakhra the Lich begins the second ritual Middle Chant.

Ssahkar the Lich begins the ritual Low Chant.

Ssahkra the Lich begins the first ritual Middle Chant.

They must be killed in this order:

    ritual High Chant
    first ritual Middle Chant
    second ritual Middle chant
    ritual Low Chant

So, for the above example your kill order would be Har, Kra, Hra, Kar. If you don't follow the order, the shissar will respawn.

As they are killed in the proper order, they do not respawn. So, if you are having problems you can evac or gate the rezzer, run back, and repeat until all are dead.

The liches are like regular trash mobs. The Empress hits a bit harder. Demiplane+ gear is advised. All the mobs for the updates are immune to snare, immune to mez, immune to pacify, and see invis.

Empress Saarisz the Undying has been slain by _____!

Empress Saarisz the Undying says, 'At last it is ended and both of our [aims] appear to have been fulfilled. I wish you the best of luck with your task.

Your task 'Stop the Ritual' has been updated.

The Empress drops A Softly Glowing Runed Pendant for everyone in the group. This item MUST be looted for Solteris progression purposes, so do not forget it.

Upon completion, you receive positive faction with Combine Empire Merchants, a number of Onux.

Your faction standing with Combine Empire Merchants got better.
You have successfully been granted your reward for: Stop the Ritual

For progression purposes, you need to complete this 'A City in Peril' mini-task, finishing this task arc off.

I didn't notice it until I had already gated and dropped the task, but there is a message from the Empress when you kill her:

"Empress Saarisz the Undying says, 'At last it is ended and both of our [aims] appear to have been fulfilled. I wish you the best of luck with your task.'"

My 90 mage and 90 necro just blitzed this quest. I just decided that if we killed the wrong one in the wrong order we would eventually kill in the right order and win. That is just what we did. The mage and necro pets tanked everything except on respawn when they forget the pets and come at you but it didn't take long for the pets to recapture the attention of the mobs.

Just kill the resurrected mobs first after they respawn and then get back to work on the lich's. Eventually you whittle them down to 0 and kill the empress last.

Necro and mage have level 90 HOT quest gear and have 50000 hps each or so. I cast stone core on the mage just because he was tanking so many mobs at times but it really never was close. I did need both merc clerics though because they will also take a beating.
    Just get a good SK

Last few wins on this (when max level was 80) we just went in with a really good cleric or 2 healers and an SK with all AE taunts loaded. SK pops defensive runs in AE taunts all the mobs. Target and kill in order while SK tanks all 5. Defensive lasts long enough to get all mobs slowed. And as healers run out of shield clicks and hots wear off mobs will be dieing so it gets easier. Also remember to have somebody assigned to loot the mobs as soon as they die which prevents the emp from bringing them back as an undead add.

Some information. All the mobs for updates are : Immune to snare, Immune to Mez, Immune to Pacify, and See Invis, Therefor practically impossible to split.

At present have only done one attempt. That attempt involved utter failure, however its because I had wrong mob as these names look so freaking much alike and we had emp on us too.

Method used: clear north room, use bard, click snare (just for aggro) and take off AS SOON AS YOU CLICK the song, not after it lands, get around the corner ~ out of sight and fade (they can see invis but they can't see through walls!)

I ended up with 3 using this method, took out 1 but since I had the wrong mob targeted and the emp was one of those 3 mobs I wiped due to it respawning "A ressurected Shissar". This critter was just like the first one I killed however had a different name really is all the difference was.

Emperor ~ 3500 ac zerker with 20/28 CA/CS max hit 2520dmg, bash for 500's, mob will (Wild Rampage) for 150?? only one that showed up on logs before the wipe

Ssakhar the Lich had 101k hps ~ Max hit on zerker was 1193 / bash max 217

Will edit this post with anymore information I get about the mobs

    My guild and I found out some things, that others may or may not know. We discovered the following;
    * On first attempting this, we killed the first Shissar. Then for some reason, the queen aggroed, and we wiped
    * Upon taking a careful inventory of what transpired, we discovered that, the damage shileds I surreptitiously applied to all, caused the wipe. (was Cloak of Scales, Rk II, and Shield of Spurs)
    * After rezzing, medding and rebuffing, minus the damage shields, we were successful
    * Also, when we attempted it, I had not done mission 6 yet. Because of this, I could not use the teleporters. So, I died, and they dragged my corpse through. =)
(it was just easier to do 8, as our pally had to go, and he needed 8)
May your adventures be fruitful ones...
    well....

While all the other write ups are quite nice, and honestly, I would have preferred that we had a SK, or even a nec to pull this, not so sure it's something a bard should be doing since they see invis, but, as for the mobs with different endings to their names, our strategy, albeit a bit time consuming, and deadly, worked great for our fellowship, basically, just figure out who's first on the hit list, get tank to target that mob, pull the whole room, have a campfire set up, and kill THAT MOB, then whatever hits the tank next, or, whatever drops next, till you get all the updates, we did this in only 2 wipes, and my cleric only died 4 times, once because i fired in too soon, none the less, the strategy works, it's no fail, long as ye in a fellowship to fire right back into the hall, yer golden, anyway, thought this might help some folks that are apprehensive about doing this and cant find a good snare FD puller, hope it helps...

Best way to do this is after you have cleared temple set up camp at 175, n637, 688. this will be just outside of a big room. Use a bard/sk what have you to pull the room with the lichs run up to this big room and kite them around the room.

Have the order that you need to kill the Liches set up and pull off the liches one at a time and dps them down while the kiter kites around that room.

You must kill the Lichs before the Empress first. We killed Empress first and got no update, she must be last.

BTW, just in case you're noobs like our powerhouse group was, Make sure you loot the items off the Empress' corpse. Each person gets one and you need it for the final update to your ring. We ended up having to do the mission a second time because I couldn't target corpse to loot and we didn't realize it was a MUST.

I don't remember what it is, but it looks like a necklace and when you speak to Researcher Elnot to get the next solo task, you hand him your ring, UNAUGMENTED, and then you give him what he calls a Shissar Artifact.

    Good Luck

I have a regular group ( warrior, shadow knight, monk, shaman, cleric and wizard) which whom we completed so many quests together. We finished this quest and we got the access to Solteris (like Anguish must have 6 keyed people in group.Zone from the 3rd level of the main temple in Katta, click on the big globe.)
We won Stop the Ritual with our strategy :
    - Invis to the instance zone in, avoiding all the SI all the way, when 3 of us arrived in instance we make campfire.
    - Get to pyramid1, kill wonderer and rushing into the teleporter to pyramid2 We tried to send SK,monk and warrior to make campfire, but failed. Because we need to kill some mobs to clear the way so we can make it rushing to the teleporter. (Cleric DA too long to refresh :p)
    - Same thing from pyramid2 to pyramid3.
    - On pyramid3, we clear all the mobs outside pyramid and in the room, clear all the way to the nameds.
    - Make notes on the chants, have to kill in order of chant: High, Middle High, Middle Low and Low. We need to pay attention to the last 4 letters of nameds.
    - SK aggro all nameds in room, then run to kite them outside the pyramid all around. Monk grab the one we need, bring it to us on the corner outside the nameds room. Some adds will pop, but they will despawn.
    - It is easier for SK to FD after each kill. Mobs will reset in the room. Then repeat the process.
    - Make campfire nearby but in the safe area, just in case. If kiter died, big boss will warp to group to assist the mob we're killing. If that happened wizzy evac, then we click to campfire.

    I hope that will help.

Oh, by the way, we did this in the first week of March 2007. If there is some updates on the quest, hopefully it makes things easier.

Adding notes here: 6 of us were not Anguish geared and did have our epic 2.0 when we did this mission (we haven't flagged for Anguish). We just love challenges.
