In order to get the first ring, all you need is warmly faction with Brood of Di'Zok (1650) and to have attained 51st level. Sounds easy, but it will take the killing of over 3500 goblins in Droga to get you warmly from KOS.

You say, 'Hail, Herald Telcha'

Herald Telcha says 'Hail to you, lesser being! It is good to see you seeking the enlightenment and satisfaction that can only come from serving the Sarnak! Experience for yourself the joy of fealty to our Lord the Overking Bathezid Dizok! I am Telcha,
lesser apprentice sub-herald in training to the Court of Dizok and I stand ready to welcome those who would serve our noble Overking. Are you here to [aid] us?

You say, 'I will aid the Sarnak'

Herald Telcha says 'Ah, so good of you to strive to improve yourself! So often members of your pathetic lesser races plod along in ignorance, unaware of the most Noble empire of the Dizok. Enough though of the
chit-chat, as Im sure you are most eager to make yourself useful! Before you may enter our worthy city and be looked upon as a valuable servant, you must prove your worth to our [cause].

You say, 'What cause?'

Herald Telcha says 'The first task I shall set you is the slaying of goblins! Ooh, how very heroic you must feel to finally have a worthy goal guiding your previously menial existance! Yes, go forth from here
and journey to Droga, stronghold of our enemies. Slay the warriors and menials of the Mountain Death Clan, bring havoc to their homes. Return to me with proof of
your deeds, to raise in your standing with the Dizok. Bring me [tokens] of many dead goblins, and one day you shall walk among us.

You say, 'What tokens?'

Herald Telcha says 'As proof of your deeds I shall require either 2 Mountain Death mineral salts, or a patch of green goblin skin. Bring me many of these, as
you bring destruction on the goblin city, and I shall speak to my superiors of your efforts on our behalf. Do enough for our cause, and I shall reward you directly. Return to me later and remind me that you
serve the Sarnak, and I may have a ring for you if you are worthy.

Hand Herald Telcha a Green Goblin Skin:

Herald Telcha says 'Green Goblin Skin! You have indeed been busy! I shall speak to my masters of this, continue your good work and return to me with more skins.

Upon handing Telcha 1 Green Goblin Skin:
Your faction standing with Brood of Di`Zok has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Sarnak Collective has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Goblins of Mountain Death has been adjusted by -1.

You hand Herald Telcha two Mountain Death mineral salts:

Herald Telcha says 'Ah, most excellent! You are sure to be more highly valued as our servant once I speak to my masters of this! Mountain Death Mineral Salts, they shall grace the Overkings table this very night!
Be off, minion! Fetch us some more salts to prove your value!

Your faction standing with Brood of Di`Zok has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Sarnak Collective has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Goblins of Mountain Death has been adjusted by -1.

........

You say to Herald Telcha, 'I serve the sarnak'

At dubious faction:
Herald Telcha says 'Away with you! I am the herald of the Dizok Overking, here to greet the servants of my master. If you would walk within our city, go forth and prove yourself our ally by slaying our goblin enemies! Advance into our city at your own peril, as
our soldiers regard you as a foe!

At kindly faction:
Herald Telcha says 'You have not yet done enough service for the Sarnak Collective, and my Dizok Masters. Return to me when you have done more, and I may reward you with a ring of service.'

At warmly faction, below level 50:
Herald Telcha says 'What to do, what to do.. You've served the Di'zok well, young one but you are not yet experienced enough to wear the Signet of the Di'zok. Come back when you've seen a bit more of the world, and the ring shall be yours.

At warmly faction, above level 50 (To get the ring +1650 Brood of Di'Zok):
You say, 'I serve the sarnak'

Herald Telcha says 'Indeed you do my friend, indeed you do! Walk among us in safety, wear this ring as a symbol of your service to our cause. Continue your efforts in our war on the goblins, and your rewards shall increase. Return to me your ring, along with the head of the Drogan Warlord Skargus, and I'll give you an even greater badge of honor. Good day to you, servant of the Sarnak. '

Note that quest text requires 1650 total. This will be displayed as 950 in warmly. To be more clear, if you mouse over the faction name or the reaction in the faction window (default shift+F) faction will be stated such as:

Warmly (950)
150 points to ally

If you mouse over the bar, however, it will be stated as such:

Standing: 1650
Min: -2000
Max: 2000

This standing is the total, and is the number which must be 1650. If you are calculating precisely how many skins/salts are needed, use the number when mousing over the bar in your calculations.

What you need for faction
# Jul 31 2007 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
I am a human necro that worships Innoruuk, lvl 54 (not that this matters much other than the fact I could have keep the room clear at a slightly lower level).
I killed lots of gobbies in Warsilk woods in the fort but killed several Sarnark and the Chancellor in the Sarnark fort in LoIO, so I imagine that when I started this quest my faction was close to where it started.
Now the best place that I found to get faction was in the three cave system where Chief RoGus spawns. I killed at the entrance and moved down the right hall and cleard the Chiefs room. It was fairly easy to keep the room clear, especially with the demi lich skullcap. I imagine that I was there for about 10-15 hours over a period of a few days. When I went to turn in to the Herald these were my stats:
Gobbies killed: Approximately 600, give or take 50 (probably closer to 650).
These are the results of my turnins:
4 stacks of skins = Amiable
11 more stacks of skins = Kindly
13 more stacks plus an extra 12 skins plus 3 stacks of salts = Warmly
I said I will serve the sarnak but could not get the ring (not at high end of warmly).((
So back to the mines and I killed 105 more of the little guys.
Turned in 52 skins plus 14 salts = Warmly (high end)
I talked to the herald again and got the ring.
Finally, if you do the math on kill vs turnins:
1 skin = 1.2 kills
1 salt = 10 kills
So now on the next phase.
Hope this helps anyone starting to understand the approximate kills and turnins required.
use skins not salts
# Jul 18 2006 at 7:23 AM Rating: Decent
skins are a very common drop of the goblins that previously resided in Nurga and are now in Frountier mountians, plus it only take 1 skin for the faction hit compared to 2, and also salts are used commonly for alchemy so they have a slightly higher resale value

You need warmly faction with Brood of Di`Zok.
All sarnaks in Chardok are on this faction.

The other faction, Sarnak Collective, represents all Sarnaks outside of Chardok.

Turnins
# Jun 25 2006 at 7:12 PM Rating: Decent
These turnins were done with a Vah Shir Agnostic Berserker. He had base faction with sarnak--I had never killed anything in Kunark with him, not goblins, not sarnaks. Started at scowls, obviously.

After 42 salt turnins: threateningly
After 162: still threateningly

That was all the salts I had, then started on the skins:

After 6 skins: threateningly
After 26 skins: dubious
After 86 skins: still dubious

More farming is in order, I suppose.

I was turning in skins to Herald and tried the line "I serve the Sarnak" as soon as I turned warmly but he still said I had not done enough. One more stack of green skin was not enough but two stacks was.

I don't believe killing Skargus is a big faction boost any more.

I killed him recently and my faction stayed at warmly (it was already high enough into warmly to get the ring).

Another character in the group had apprehensive faction and stayed apprehensive, even though it is only around 100 faction hits from apprehensive to indifferent.

So he may be a bigger hit than normal, but certainly nothing like the +300 mentioned elsewhere.

Faction Hunting
# Aug 11 2004 at 2:09 PM Rating: Decent
If your just looking to get Di'Zok faction the best hunting spot isn't Temple of Droga. Try the mine in Frontier Mountains at loc -1900, 2000. Until you are dubious to Di'Zok don't pull from the first room on the left. The "Gobblin traitor" is on Di'Zok faction which is good for checking out your progress. The place is usually open and can get alot of mobs on a pull. Really great for AoE casters but unfortuanaley being grped with em doesn't give you faction, melee people still have to get a hit on each one. GL

The warrior Epic requires a drop off the Sarnak Queen. I was just wondering, if you got a bunch of Buddies to waste away days at a time to do this ring quest if you could make it easier to get the war epic drops.

(1) you could walk right up to the sarnak queen
(2) If you had a KOS war, you could CoH him to you or drag and rez for looting the blade.
(3) Rinse and repeat the quest to get faction back up since it is repairable.

Any thoughts? (im looking for intelligent feedback, Not Flames)

Has any one tried this or is it something that will take you from ally to KOS in one battle?

Thanks

from memory the faction hit is pretty big on King and Queen, but dont make you insta KoS.

however a non KoS level 65 can single pull the King to zone out, and can probably single pull the Queen there as well.

people who want to avoid the faction hit can just zoneout when it's nearly dead.

Or the way we did it for cleric epic. Run non KoS Mag and rogue down (rogue for door). CoH down to the hallway near king, you will get about 5-6 roamers which are pretty easy nowdays. Mag singles the King to hallway, gates to avoid faction. Rogue stays away after opening door to avoid AE's

If you are at max ally faction, one King or Queen hit will take you into the Warmly range. I'm not sure offhand where you'll be if you kill both of them.

I realize I am replying to an extremely old post which means the information has likely changed since that time, but the Queen and King hits are incredibly SMALL.

With faction now directly reported as a numerical value I can confirm that the Queen and King are each -3 faction hits to both brood and collective. This faction hit is actually smaller than other guards I killed as a result of aggro'ing them.

I was able to repair my faction back to max ally with a couple of kills in Chardok B after having killed both the Queen and the King.

I have done this numerous times in the past 2 weeks.

Best I can explaine it.
think of faction as a pie. this pie is divided into 8000 slices, each slice being a point of faction. you kill a goblin. you get 2 peices of pie. you turn in a Skin and 2 salts, you get 1 peice of pie. (as I understand these are the faction points for the killing and turn ins) When you kill The Overking you loose 1000 points of faction, this is in relation to the Cleric Epic, I am unsure of the Queen's faction hits.

Giving the Herald a green goblin skin will get you
5 slices of pie from Brood of Di`Zok and
3 slices of pie from Sarnak Collective.
(I thought it was 1, but Sylphan says 3.)

BTW, these 'pies' have 5600 slices, +/- 1.

Nope, the only faction hit is "Goblins of Mountain Death".

If faction, and not exp, is your only concern, then the easiest goblins to kill are those in Frontier Mountains that range from level 25-35. There are plenty in the caves west of the Nurga entrance (these are the mobs that used to spawn in Nurga before it was revamped). They drop the salts/skins just as frequently as the ones in Nurga and give the same faction hit (i.e. +1 to Di'Zok) as far as I can tell.

Loot is a few pp, fine steel and the occasional gem. There are also a few rare drops. I picked up a Circlet of Shadows the other day, which should sell for a reasonable amount (not 20,000 like the pre-nerf ones, but at least a few hundred and maybe up to a couple of thousand).
Where's my ring
# Jul 25 2003 at 8:56 PM Rating: Default
I been in Chardok B killing. Just yesterday I talked to the Herald at the front of the zone. When I conned everything, I was warmly. Yet when I said "I serve the sarnak" I didn't get the ring. Is there something else to it? Or maybe the faction requires Ally now and not warmly. Level is not a factor at all since my character is level 65. Any info would help.

It seems that high warmly (like you can tell :P) is the faction required to receive the ring. A 62 mage friend and I went to get his ring yesterday as he was conning warmly to the Sarnak. He told the herald "I serve the Sarnak" and was refuted by him being told he needed to do more. He then turned in the 3 stacks of salts he had on him which did not change his faction from warmly. This time, however, the herald said "Indeed you do!" and he was gifted his ring.

I'm at the point where if I kill a gobby in Nurga I get a "your faction could not possibly get better with Brood of Di'Zok", and the Chardok Sarnaks look at me as an ally. But I went a did a turn in of salts and skins and I got nothing. WTF is up with that? Does being an Iksar have anything to do with it?

Do a bit more factioning. There are stages of warmly-ness, and you need mid-high warmly to get the ring.

I just got the first ring. I carefully handed in the skins/salts, so I know that after you hit warmly, you need 100 more faction hits (+/- 3 I guess).

Also since it takes 400 faction hits to get from warmly to ally, once you get this ring all you have to do is kill skargus to get to ally (I am assuming he is a 300 point faction hit as reported elsewhere...)

I just hadn't seen the actual number anywhere, so I hope that helps,

New Changes within Droga ... no more Ring?
# Jun 12 2003 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
Ok with the new changes to Droga, I am affraid the good times are over with regards to the Chardok Ring and Chord quest. Not impossible, just a major pain in the rear now. The gobs are all high 40's plus, and have alot more HP and harm touch, and have other sorts of nasty irratating offense.

I noticed that as of the June 11, 2003 patch, the Angry Goblin spawned on server reboot. It was despawned quickly. Also, the Goblin Traitor still spawns, so I guess they didn't nerf the Ring quest. With all the new upgrades to the zone, they might as well have!

I guess I have been spoiled on this quest, as I have 4 characters that have the rings. Actually, my Rogue, Shammy, and Necro have both rings, and my Cleric has the first ring. Up until the patch, getting these rings was very simple but very boring.

I would just solo the gobs with my necro and collect the salts/skins. Sometimes I would 2 box with the necro and an alt and have the alt attack with pet or spell so that faction was gained even quicker. I would sometimes just park my alt under the Chief's ledge and soak up exp ... well that has come to an end. The new mobs now spawn at and near the old "safe spots" so that a player would have to keep their alt on invis at ALL times.

Also, no more running around and getting a train of goblins and killing them with AE, MONK, PET, ect. These things are nasty now. Its single killing with current changes. Slow and very tedious work. This will limit the number of people willing to do the quest big time!

I will be camping the area where the Angry Goblin spawns for the next couple of days, and report back what I find concerning the Angry. I just need the final fight with Skargus for my Cleric's second ring and that will be it! No more :)

Oh, one other thing; a few people wonder why would a necro would want these rings? Well first off, I am a penny pincher. I would rather do the quest for "FREE" rings instead of going to Bazaar and paying several 10's of thousands of plat for the rings. My chars wear both, except my Rogue, he just wears the 2nd ring and a Valorium ring. I take the rogue and the cleric 2 boxing and having the damage shield helps with the already high DPS on the rogue. The rings are nice, and actually much more cost effective to spend the 2 days (7 - 8 hour shifts) down in Droga killing gobbys for "FREE" rings then farming enough plat somewhere to buy equivalent rings for 40kpp or more. If the 2nd ring were droppable, I think given the current price of similar rings, 40k would be in line with the valuation. This was before the update to Droga. Now I would say the value is alot more if it were droppable. Also, others have explained the HP and Mana benifits so no need rehashing that :)

correct me if im wrong, but haven't the changes only been made on the test server?
as well, i think that the changes could be a good and a bad thing. the faction won't be as easy now, but it will definately be more worth it to kill the things if they have loot and give you xp. the planes can get old, i wouldnt mind comin back to the old world zones if they actually gave some decent xp. therefore, the faction could turn out to be much easier to get for classes that could not previously AE through them all.

Think about this. As stated a few times, you need approximately 3500 faction hits to get max ally.

This means you will need to kill around 2000 dark blue mobs. That harmtouch. And nuke hard. And slow. And dispel. And cheal. And melee hard.

Sorry, but I'm pissed off at the changes. It's gonna make the factioning 100x slower and more risky. I thought camping the monk epic mobs was bad (2.5 levels spent on Raster alone, no other xping) now it looks like I'll be spending 3-4 levels in Droga just to get the faction enough to think about doing the final quest.

They should've moved the Droga content to Nurga, and bumped up Droga.

Can someone explain why these quests are so popular for necros? Almost every necro board i scan has info on them... but it seems like an awful lot of faction work just for a 1 int ring with some mana..

And a pretty tough kill for the second ring which has a damage shield (as a necro I don't really find myself wanting to get hit)...

What am i missing here?

RE: I don't get it...
# Jun 03 2003 at 9:29 PM Rating: Excellent
Obviously none of you do get it. make all the assumptions you want about int vs mana vs hp etc and the worth of the item to a necro and your all wrong.

Sorry am not able to disclose the closely gaurded secret of the Ring. But to put it mildly if you ever saw or read Lord of the Rings that ring is like a toy found in a Cracker Jack Box in comparison to this one.

Seriously Necro's could care less about that stupid ring it is what you have attained in the process of getting it.

Chardok Faction

as an essential part of the Necro Epic takes place deep in the bowels of Chardok and we are so frail the Chardok Faction allows us to just walk right in here and sit on the Herbalists head if we want to until it comes time to kill him.

what we are after in killing the Herbalist is a semi rare drop. we will be spending a lot of time sittin there waitin on the spawn.

Have you ever been at the ramp in Overthere and some one shouts Goons to Sky? Well everone gets up and clears outta there except the necros. They Just sit and laugh as everyone books it for the zone. finally the good races get to see what a necro goes through near almost any town. Good races just take faction for granted. With Evil races faction is a major priority.

Me I laugh at those necros for sitting in a group and killing Sarnak's. I am a level 51 necro and if I get aggroed by a green Sarnak flunky I FD and get rid of my pet so it doesn't kill him.

It is all about the faction!!!

Well .. for a necro mana and hps are interchangable, so +mana and +hps are always being looked for. Basically for a necro this can be looked at as either a +100 mana ring or a +100 hp ring .. as the situation dictates :)

Further, above 200 int, +1 int is only 6 mana, so this adds as much to the mana pool of a typical level 51+ necro as much as a +15 int item.

Basically, this is a very good item for anyone who uses mana and needs hps. But it's especially nice for necros simply because Nurga is such a great place to fear kite in the late 30s and early 40s -- so many necros already hvae the faction tehy need to do this quest from xp'ing.

Yes the Cords are nice, and the ultimate goal, but this ring alone is very nice for Necro's. Sure it's only 1 Int, but 65hp and 45mana? Everything we're looking for.

Check out the 3rd quest in this line, in addition to getting the 2nd ring returned you get 3 pieces, arms, shoulders, don't recall the 3rd off hand, each have 100 hps and effect aura of battle i believe its called. The effect is 1200 hp regen over 600 ticks. Never played a necro, but that can't hurt. I would like it for my shammy to save some mana on regen. I like to canni a lot :)

Nope, you get 1 piece, the Spirit Wracked Cords. It can be equipped in three different slots, take your pick.

What's the deal with the Sarnak Collective?

I am a lvl 60 monk, just hit Warmly faction with Brood of Di Zok. Have handed in easily 1000 skins 1000 salts or more. And am still Scowl to Sarnak Collective.

When I just told Herald Telcha I serve the Sarnak, he did not give me the first ring, instead he said "You have not yet done enough work with the Collective or the Di Zok Brood, come back when you have done more work"

Does this mean I need Warmly to Sarnak Collective also? This will seriously suck if I do. Cause that faction is not going up at all. Thank you Iksar Betrayer spawn for killing my sarnak faction. Or do I just need ally to get first ring now?

I was handing in skins and salts, trying to get to warmly. When I hit warmly I tried to get the ring, same response, I haven't done enough.

So I continued handing in skins and salts. I was still warmly, but the increase in faction was enough, and he gave me the ring.

Minimum warmly is not enough, need a little bit more faction.

Warmly isnt enough. You actually have to be about halfway through Wamrly before you get the ring.

droga is a great zone for groups of 30's to low 40's iot light blues at 47, if your lvl 60 you can group with a pocket cleric and get him so much exp its craazy because he gets all the exp because its green to you. i spent 2 weeks there getting a group of 3 characters from 40 to 48 there and now im ally and they arent bad themselves

My monk leveled up some on the goblins in LOIO tunnels and did not get ANY faction with Sarnak for killing them there. You need to kill the Mt Death Goblins in Droga, thats the ones the Herald wants killed. However the ones in LOIO do drop Green Goblin skins so it doesn't hurt to kill them for xp and save up the skins, and you still get positive faction for both Firiona Vie and Legions of Cabilis for killing LOIO gobbies.

If you got sarnak faction for killing the level 25ish goblins in LOIO you know there would be level 50+ players farming them for fast faction, so I understand why Verant left Sarnak faction off them. (You do lose faction with Goblins of Mt Death for killing LOIO goblins though, so must be allies of theirs.)

I was in Lake of Ill Omen a few minutes ago and I was not getting any positive faction hits for killing the Goblins.

Get a few wizzies and go to loio near gobbie ruins by lake, And Aoe is the way to go, there are about 20 at a time. Real easy with warrior pulling, thay keep agro while wizzies AoE. you get about 5 skins every time and faction.I did this 40 to 60 times times and wasnt KOS to Cab guards. They can drop plat, so a few times = 30 or so pp. BTW gobbies are on a 7 to 10 minute spawn time so you can do 6 to 7 sets in 1 hour, try it, got to amiable in one day (24 hours) and got 200pp, 250 skins (love stacks) and 50 pp in words

Sarnak Collective goes up (I think this is all sarnaks outside of Chardok, in LoIO, OT, FM, etc.)

Brood of Dizok goes up, this is everything in Chardok.

Goblins of Mountain Death goes down.

There are no hits to important factions, just the Droga gobbies.

Ok! I am naturally KOS to these Iksar wannabes. And I have killed many of them since I needed some quest items from them. I am sure that I am more than max KOS to them... hehehe Can I even be warmly or ally to them? I have to find out yet...

Here is my question. Does turning in the gobbie skin or the mineral salt cause any faction hits?
