Hmmmmmm, I'm curious if there is any race/class that cannot attain Chardok faction?
My High Elf cleric can't seem to improve her Chardok faction at all. I know she took a big faction hit with the epic hunts, so she spent several WEEKS in Droga and Nurga whacking goblins to try to improve it.
It may take ALOT of salts and skins to become Non-KOS, but at this point she has turned in 20 stacks of skins and 8 stacks of salts and STILL Scowling, ready to attack?
Something's not right - I have done this before with other characters and I'd expect she should at least be apprehensive by now, even starting out with the worst possible faction.
Has anybody experienced something similar or do you know something I might be overlooking?
I don't know, maybe my faction was so bad I just didn't turn in enough to hit "Threatingly"?
Please help...
--> update: I continued to turn in salts and skins to see if it would eventually change. Total of 47 stacks of skins and 21 stacks of salts got me to Amiable from can't get any worse.
I went from KOS to dubious by turning in approximately 14-18 stacks of skins and 3-4 stacks of salts. The skins imo give the greatest amount of faction.
HOWEVER-keep in mind I spent 2 hours killing named in the mines of nurga as well. You could use just skins and salts to raise your faction but it would take a longer amount of time.
Droga vs Nurga~ Everything in Droga was dark blue to a level 63 mage. At least in Nurga you get mainly greens, light blues and a handfull of dark blue named. You can invis and walk through Nurga to find your way [I did last night not even the named saw through my self invis] and target the ones you want to save time.
I was turning in the salts and skins for faction while another toon of mine was doing the killing of the goblins in Nurga. Had 27 stacks of salt and 6 stacks of skins. Went from scowling to apprehensive. Will update as I do more. Wonder how many it will take to get to Ally?
I often solo this Zone in spot with my Beastlord and pull mobs to his location, mobs do not run and bring trains because he is right there.
Yet time and time again raid forces enter zone and kill this mob that is so green to them they could let him beat on them through out the zone and never notice his existance.
Why?
Killing this mob causes those killing door spawns to end up having to wait for him to respawn and then rebreak zone in. It just seems senseless.
Situations like this is why beastlords need snares. :)
Their logic for killing Telcha is that people using him for the correct purpose of faction and item recharges create spam by doing the turn ins, so others create just as much spam by killing him and using the turn in spam as justification for doing so.
What increments do you hand the salts and skins to Telcha? In other words, can you hand them in full stacks, or only in the increments that Telcha mentions? Does it make any difference?
ive looted several gobby skins, yes green, off of gobbys in WW, about 1 in 5. ive got them off of :hextracers, spirit callers, battlemasters, warlords, aggressors, and even looted one off of pit fighter dob and Grachnist the Destroyed...err, Destroyer
Talk to Herald Telcha in Chardok and say "I serve the sarnak". You will be rewarded with: Di`Zok Signet of Service (ac2 1cha 1int 1wis 65hp 45mana LORE NO DROP)
********************************************** Ring 2
What you need: Ally faction Ring 1 The head of Warlord Skargus. Drogan Warlord's Insignia
Ring 2 steps:
1. Talk to "a goblin traitor" (2-3 hour spawn) in Droga and say "what evidence". He will give you a note.(near the ramp to zone out)
2. Take this note to "a Sarnak spy" in Frontier Mountains. Follow the dialogue and you will eventually say "I will get the report." He will give you a forged note.(1880,3637)
3. Take this forged note to "a shady goblin" in Warsilik Woods near Cabilis along with a Drogan Warlord's Insignia (random drop in Droga.) He will give you the "report."(n1647,n1116 on floor 2 of the building)
4. Take this report to "an agry goblin" (5 day spawn) in Droga. This will spawn Warlord Skargus. Kill Skargus and loot head.(150,1950 between dining room and chief room)
5. Take ring 1 and the head back to Herald Telcha in Chardok and he will reward you with: Regal Band of Bathezid (ac5 2cha 2int 2wis 5sta 85hp 50mana, 5 charges of 25point ds LORE NODROP)
What you need: Ally faction Undead Dragon Sinew (Trakanon, Juggs) Urn of Spirits (Drusilla Sathir) Ring 2
Trakanon is at least a 2 - 3 group effort, more if under 58 - 60 range. He has aoe poison that is nasty dot. He is 32k hp dragon from Old Sebilis, and spawns every 3 days or so. He has a spawned version for the bard epic that in all reports so far has not dropped the quest piece. The Sinew's are also dropping of the Juggs, who I might say are just a *bit* easier to kill.
Drusella is reported to be 2 - 2.5 day spawn, and level 55 mob in Howling Stones. One group is recommended if 58 - 60 range, probably another group for under. She has a 250pt. lifetap proc, ontop of the melee damage she does. (not sure, but probably around 200 - 280 / hit)
Both of these are in keyed dungeons.
Cords Steps: Hand Undead Dragon Sinew, Urn of Spirits and Ring 2 to Queen in ChardockYou get ring 2 back and the cord.
Spirit Wracked Cord (Lore, No Drop) Shoulder, Arms Wrist AC12, Sta5, Hp100, Svc10, Svm5 Effect: Aura of Battle(regen for 2 hps per tick and +10 atk) Effect is ALWAYS ON, not a rightclick All/All Weight 0.0
VERY nice walkthrough (Anonymous), I'de heard of the quest a few times but I didnt know where to start. I had heard that it was given from the king though, does anyone know if he has any quests?
Herald Telcha spawns at the zone in to Chardok. He is smaller than any other sarnak you see. He does not attack back when hit and says "Herald Telcha says 'Desist! Who do you think you are hitting with that! There will be consequences for your actions! Hey! Stop that! Ow!" when hit. He appears to be permanently rooted, and spawns on the same timer (about 15-18 minutes) of any other sarnak in Chardok. Most of the time, folks entering the zone kill the Herald.
You say, 'Hail, Herald Telcha'
Herald Telcha says 'Hail to you, lesser being! It is good to see you seeking the enlightenment and satisfaction that can only come from serving the Sarnak! Experience for yourself the joy of fealty to our Lord the Overking Bathezid Dizok! I am Telcha, lesser apprentice sub-herald in training to the Court of Dizok and I stand ready to welcome those who would serve our noble Overking. Are you here to [aid] us ?
You say, 'I will aid the sarnak'
Herald Telcha says 'Ah, so good of you to strive to improve yourself! So often members of your pathetic lesser races plod along in ignorance, unaware of the most Noble empire of the Dizok. Enough though of the chit-chat, as Im sure you are most eager to make yourself useful! Before you may enter our worthy city and be looked upon as a valuable servant, you must prove your worth to our [cause].
You say, 'What cause?'
Herald Telcha says 'The first task I shall set you is the slaying of goblins! Ooh, how very heroic you must feel to finally have a worthy goal guiding your previously menial existance! Yes, go forth from here and journey to Droga, stronghold of our enemies. Slay the warriors and menials of the Mountain Death Clan, bring havoc to their homes. Return to me with proof of your deeds, to raise in your standing with the Dizok. Bring me [tokens] of many dead goblins, and one day you shall walk among us.
You say, 'What tokens?'
Herald Telcha says 'As proof of your deeds I shall require either 2 Mountain Death mineral salts, or a patch of green goblin skin. Bring me many of these, as you bring destruction on the goblin city, and I shall speak to my superiours of your efforts on our behalf. Do enough for our cause, and I shall reward you directly. Return to me later and remind me that you serve the Sarnak, and I may have a ring for you if you are worthy.
Hand Herald Telcha a Green Goblin Skin:
Herald Telcha says 'Green Goblin Skin! You have indeed been busy! I shall speak to my masters of this, continue your good work and return to me with more skins. Your faction standing with Brood Of DiZok got better. Your faction standing with Sarnak Collective got better. Your faction standing with Goblins of Mountain Death got worse. You gain experience!!
Hand Herald Telcha 2 Mountain Death mineral salts:
Herald Telcha says 'Ah, most excellent! You are sure to be more highly valued as our servant once I speak to my masters of this! Mountain Death Mineral Salts, they shall grace the Overkings table this very night! Be off, minion! Fetch us some more salts to prove your value! Your faction standing with Brood Of DiZok got better. Your faction standing with Sarnak Collective got better. Your faction standing with Goblins of Mountain Death got worse. You gain experience!!
You are the first to say where the Herald is located.
I have hunted many seasons in Droga to the point that the goblin traitor is very amiable.
Nonetheless, the Sarnaks are still KOS to me. I believe this is because though hunting in Droga increases faction with the Brood, it does not affect faction with Sarnak Collective.
Now with the information that this Harold is at the entrance, I am willing to invis and enter to give him my bags of salts and skins, to make peace with his race.
If any of you like me have killed sarnaks at any time, It appears the only way to raise faction with the Sarnak Collective is to turn these skins and salts in. I only participated in the killing of less then 10 sarnaks back before I decided to raise faction with them, but that was perhaps too many.
Or perhaps everyone is automatically KOS to the Sarnak collective and despite however many kills you do in Droga you will be KOS to the Sarnaks until you raise your Sarnak Collective Faction. (skins and salts quest).
Anyway, thanks again for the information you have posted here.

At dubious faction: You say, 'I serve the sarnak' Herald Telcha says 'Away with you! I am the herald of the Dizok Overking, here to greet the servants of my master. If you would walk within our city, go forth and prove yourself our ally by slaying our goblin enemies! Advance into our city at your own peril, as our soldiers regard you as a foe!
edit - updated - 10MAR02 Herald Telcha kindly considers you -- You could probably win this fight. You say, 'I serve the sarnak' Herald Telcha says 'You have not yet done enough service for the Sarnak Collective, and my Dizok Masters. Return to me when you have done more, and I may reward you with a ring of service.'
edit - updated - 20MAR02 Herald Telcha looks upon you warmly -- You could probably win this fight. You say, 'I serve the sarnak' Herald Telcha says 'What to do, what to do.. You've served the Di'zok well, young one but you are not yet experienced enough to wear the Signet of the Di'zok. Come back when you've seen a bit more of the world, and the ring shall be yours.
Looks like the level requirement of 50 is accurate. Warmly definitely is the minimum faction needed.
You turn in items for faction. If I remember correctly its Green Goblin skins or Mountain death salts. Think they both can be gotten in Nurga and Droga.

Skins and salts do not drop in Nurga, only Droga. Green goblin skins do, however, drop on other surface goblins, such as Lake of Ill Omen, or Warslicks woods.. But being as they are a mosdestly uncommon drop from goblins, you're much better off to kill goblins in Droga for them, where Mt. Death salts are also a common drop.. Thus getting both items with one shot, rather than just a few skins for relatively the same ammount of effort.
I've got a 47 mage that has hunted in Nurga for approximately 5 lvls - 42-47 - and I've found that there is a decent drop of skins and salts both off the 10 goblins just inside from FM zone, the 3 near the waterfall, the 2 at the fire, the 2 in the cubbyhole near the rails and the 3 in the room behind the fire. I've also noticed a fair rate on the drop of the Drogan Warlord's Insignia and, just as an FYI, those warders are nice little money machines with all those opals they drop. Happy factioning! = )

I found skins and salts to be just about as common in Nurga as in Droga. I don't find many of them on whipcrackers though and that is probably where the myth began. A lot more whipcrackers in Nurga then in Droga at least on a per Capata basis.
Best place to farm goblin skin and salt is in the goblin caves straight in from the Burning Woods zoneline in Frontier Mountains. Salt and skin drop off of almost every single mob.
