You say, 'Hail, Ami'

Ami flips through a few pages of a small book, reading intently before answering you. 'Ye scurvy dog. I'll strike yer colors 'fore ya can put me on a gibbet. Take that, ya crimp!' She flips through a few more pages then smiles at you. 'Arrrr!'

You say, 'Ye scurvy dog!'

Ami grins. 'Hey, that's pretty good. You did it without a book too. Nice to meet you. I'm the bosun here.'

You say, 'You're a Bosun?'

Ami says 'Yup. I think it means I'm in charge of the flag cause that's what the Cap'n told me to take care of. I'm the one who made our symbol, so I get to protect it. I even got my own copy of the grammar manual so I can practice my pirate speech.'

You say, 'What kind of grammar manual?'

Ami nods and shows you the book for a moment. 'We don't have many of them and usually we share. My book is missing a chapter, though.'

You say, 'What chapter is missing?'

Ami nods. 'A mate of mine borrowed the P Chapter to draw a map on but then he went and got himself lost. I've memorized the rest of the book but that chapter. Oh, well, I guess I can get by with what I have. Walk the mizenmast and batten down the boom!' She looks at you proudly. 'Good, eh? I'm one of the best pirates we have.'

Find the lost pirate at +6360, +1005.

You say, 'Hail, a lost pirate'

a lost pirate twitches and growls a little. 'Arrr. Grrr. Ahoy, mate. The name's Teep.' He shivers and you notice a little drool at the corner of his mouth. 'Ya ain't lost out here too, are ya?'

You say, 'I am not lost.'

a lost pirate grins and stares through you with a mad gleam in his eye. 'Hehehe. Yah, yer lost aren't ya. I can tell from the crazy sound o' yer voice. Too bad we ain't got me map. The map would lead us straight back ta camp. Yah, that it would, boyo.'

You say, 'What map?'

a lost pirate nods. 'After we got ourselves stuck on this island I got it in me head to draw up a map so none o' the crew would ever get lost. So I set myself to explorin' and drawin'. Now the map is gone. Too bad, too, cause it was a map o' the whole place, not just the first island, but a bunch o' parts.' Mention of the map seems to have sobered him up a bit.

You say, 'Gone?'

a lost pirate says 'Aye. I lost the first part walkin' through the woods. Some big wolf bowled me over 'n started to tear me book up. 'Fore I could stop, it he ran off. I'm not knowin' why. The second part, heh. That was worse.'

You say, 'What happened to the second part?'

a lost pirate shivers. 'The second piece I lost, well, that put the fear o' Bertox in me. I was still in the woods at the time. It was at night. Cold and crisp, it was. I heard a flappin' and squawkin' above me and I knew my time was near. So I up and jumped into a snow drift. Soon as that, somethin' swooped down where I was and started tearin' my camp up. When I came back, I saw nothin' but feathers and me torn up book. Another quarter o' me book was gone.'

You say, 'What happened to the third part?'

a lost pirate says 'Huh? Oh, the other pieces? I gave a piece to a mate o' mine 'cause he wanted to help. Nice enough fella but he couldn't find north from a hole in the hull. Last I saw he wandered off towards the bridge. The last piece went away after I stumbled and fell down here. After a while I didn't care, so I threw it in the water. It floated off. Seems like everythin' that goes wrong ta me is because of some danged wild animal. I can't quite figger it.'

You say, 'I will find the parts.'

a lost pirate laughs. 'Its yer funeral, boyo. I'm not even sure they're readable. Oh, well. Here, take this. It's the cover of the book I was puttin' the map in. If ya get the first four parts, put em in there. If ya get the fifth, just go give it ta Ami the way ya find it. Hey, if ya find em all, come get me so I can find me way back. I'm thinkin' I'd like ta go back now.'

You say, 'Where is chapter P?'

a lost pirate stares at the water. 'I'm rememberin' that. Yah. Ami's book. Thats what I drew, erm, the fifth part o'n. It got lost in the ocean too.' He looks at you. 'Yer wantin' ta go out and find all o' these pieces?'

You receive a Map Binding, a four-slot container. Find the four parts to the map:

1. The first piece of the map can be looted off of a Dire Wolf Stalker, a rare spawn in Iceclad Ocean.

2. The second piece is looted from Stormfeather - again, a rare spawn in Iceclad.

3. The third piece is found via a mini-quest. Kill Tizmaks in Great Divide until you have four of the NO DROP Yakman Parts. Hand all four parts to Bloodmaw in the same zone. Bloodmaw will despawn after you give him the parts. After this happens, say, 'I want the map please' to the gnome captive. He'll give you the third piece.

4. The fourth piece of the map is found on Lodizal.

Combine the four pieces in your container to craft Pieces of an Iceclad Map give this to the lost pirate:

a lost pirate grins widely and slaps you on the arm. 'Har har! You're crazier than I am. And since I know that I must not be that crazy after all. Ahh, I haven't felt this good in ages..' He shuffles the pieces and jots down a few notes here and there. 'There, now it's really finished. Let's get us outta here. Hold this fer me.' As he starts to try and crawl up the hill, a sleek figure darts towards him.
You gain experience!!

Receive the Completed Map of Iceclad in return.

A rabid snow cougar spawns and attacks. Whether you kill it or not does not seem to matter. Head to Captain Nalot.

You say, 'Hail, Captain Nalot'

Captain Nalot squints at you through one eye, the other covered by a metallic eyepatch. 'Garrr. What `ave we here? Another beller yellied land blubber eh? By the looks of ye someones mudder didnt know when ta throw a bad fish back. HAR HAR!'

You say, 'What do you mean, bad fish?'

Captain Nalot says 'That means I'm callin ya ugly as a piece o' whale blubber but twice as bad smellin, ya son of a water treadin _____. Yer about as smart as the slime we use ta patch our boat hull, aren't ya?'

You say, 'Where is this boat of yours?'

Captain Nalot says 'Arrrr. So we ain't got a boat right now. What's that got ta do with anythin'? Just cause we ain't got a boat, or a way to sail the waters, or even know how ta sail, don't mean we aren't crusty and dangerous. Just watch yerself cause we're mean.'

You say, 'You're mean?'

Captain Nalot says 'Thats right! We're mean, nasty, devious 'n cruel. We'll knock ya down, bite yer knees, and steal yer money. Arrr. We won't always say please and thank you either! Just remember that and don't be tryin' anyhin' funny.'

You say, 'What do you consider funny?'

Captain Nalot says 'Uh, I dunno what funny stuff. No one's ever asked that one. You know, just be nice ta everyone I guess. Think ya can do that?'

You say, 'What about the map?'

Captain Nalot says 'The map? What map? Oh wait, that thing I made ol' what's-his-name do ta get los... uh adventure. Uh, sure. If yer wantin' we've got a job for ya. If ya do it ya get ta be a real member o' me crew.'

You say, 'I want to be a real member of your crew.'

Captain Nalot says 'That means ya get ta take orders from me and ya get ta use fancy words like bilge hoistin' land blubbing beller yellied, and more. Anyways, we needed a map so me lads would stop gettin' lost, but the lad I sent out ain't come back with it. I even sent out a search party but I ain't heard from them either. If ya find 'im get the map and get back 'ere.'

Give the completed map to Captain Nalot.

Captain Nalot squints and then knocks hard on the metal half of his face to get his eye back in adjustment.. 'Arrr. This is perfect. Har! Now we can be plannin' our pillagin' and plunderin' all proper like. Good work, _____!' Captain Nalot slaps you on the back and accidentally drops his eyepatch. Being a proper pirate now you conveniently forget to mention it to him.
You gain experience!!

Receive Eyepatch of Plunder.

I zoned in from the translocator (what ever happened to the boats?) and saw Stormfeather on top of the hill by docks. It took 2 seconds to take him down. Was just me and a shaman in zone who was camping Lodi. Being a ranger I hunted down the stalker and took it down easy too. Lodi never spawned though... another day!

A stroke of luck, I won 8 diamonds today too.

14 hour spawn on Lodizal after server reset... longest a lot of people who camp him often have told me. I got the enduring breath ring and my Eyepatch in 22 hours (including 9 hours server was down). Hopefully Tunare will bless you all with my luck!

My brother managed to do the turnin on bloodmaw by taking and getitng in sight of him and casting harmony....then he hit sneek and went around behind him and did the turnin while he was under harmony.

Level 52 ranger. I'm guessing that pacify or something like that would work as well....

Charm works also. Charmed him, handed in 4 parts and said "I wantthe map" to the gnome.

Yup, as a 51 Ranger I used Harmony of Nature and Sneak behind him with no problem. The quest instructions were a little unclear about asking for the map after he depops. You have to ask the little gnome standing next to him for the map piece.

Excellent post, Cassandra. Thank you.

Did the quest myself earlier today. Tried a few ways to hand in the meat. Plain ol' sneak didn't work. Neither did Calm Animal + Sneak. Then I saw your post and decided to try. Worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip.

As of at least today - yakman parts are required for turn in to maw. not chunks

Oh and on turn in to the lost pirate a rabid snow cougar spawned. don't know why - didn't see it mentioned - but maybe someone did. Anyways I killed it had a medium on it /shrug

Just a side note, the rabid snow cougar doesn't have to be killed. Did the turn-in with a level 30 ranger alt and ran from the cougar, zoned (using translocator), came back and saw it despawn. Turn in went fine.

Killed him on Xev at 5:25AM EST on 5/1/04. The other interesting thing to note here is that when I turned in all 4 pieces to the Lost Pirate a Rabid Snow Cougar spawned and immediately attacked me...it dropped nothing.

Heh, I did this quest with my twinked level 2 berserker. It does work at this level I can confirm but jeez all I can say is I'm glad it only has a 3.5 second casting time. At level 2 it seems to last about 30 seconds :p...

Liveye (lvl 65 Wizard)

PS- He's lvl 31 now and it lasts a lot longer. Level 45 is when the lasting time maxes out at 10 minutes.

Is this quest MQable? And what is the lowest lvl that can complete it?
RE: MQable?
# Apr 14 2004 at 3:04 PM Rating: Decent
No, the pieces have to be combined and the final turn in is one piece.
RE: MQable?
# Jun 15 2004 at 12:38 PM Rating: Decent
naw not MQable. You need to have all 4 pieces and combine them in a container "a lost pirate" gives you

Stormfeather is a long camp. 66 hours for me. Random spawn so forget the tricks. SOE wants this to be a happened upon mob and not camped, but we are crazy and we camp it anyhow. All the other pieces and parts of the quest are ridiculously easy. I did a /feedback on this one part of the quest being impossible for all but the hardcore EQ'er. You will have folks popping in to check the spawn. You may have some show up with the intention of KS'ing. Nothing like a camp like this to nurture community in EQ./sarcasm off. I requested they make SF tougher to require a group OR make him drop multiple map pieces like Lodi so people can work and wait together instead of leaving one or two poor souls on the end of Norrath wishing they could xp while they waited. Anyhow, I got it and it is so so. It would be better if it were instant cast or the duration was longer than 10 minutes. Thats my only gripe. For 66 hours of RL time seems like a fair request to me.

Ok tried hailing Gnomes and killing cougars. notta, still took exactly 31 hours from last kill for SF to pop. I agree with the post that it is a 28 to 36 hour pop. Spent weeks on and off trying to camp him untill i got fed up and camped him from his death to his pop. Last killed March 5/04 11pm pst. Sol Ro server.

Helped a Ranger friend with this quest last night. Killed wolves north of bridge for about 15 minutes. My 42 druid played healer while She (49) proceeded to beat and fear. Frost Giants hate me for killing so many of them and chased me to zone a couple of times, but the Stalker spawned and dropped map piece. We moved up to the the upper island and hailed all three gnomes on the hill, then killed the three cougars that never move... and bam! a beautiful Griffon appeared and we proceeded to bring him down for second map piece. Congrats to Fellicia and good luck with the rest.

Just got the beauty, 20 hours of camping but plenty of XP from the cougars made it less painful. Resisted a bit and has stacks of HP. Kind folks camping Lodi gave me that bit of the map so of to the Great Divide to see if Bloodmaw plays ball.

I play on Al'Kabor, and usually see Stormfeather up when I'm in Iceclad. I wonder if higher population PC servers have something to do with these outragous camp times? You guys sure no one is killing him under your noses?

I finished this quest yesterday and can report a few things that might help.

Stormfeather spawned exactly 30 hours after he was last killed. And when I say exactly I mean right down to the minute and second of when he was last killed. This leads me to believe that he is not a 19hr, 28hr, 38hr, or random spawn mob. Simply put, he is a 30 hour camp.

He does not spawn up on the hill above the pirates playing dice. He actually spawns just a bit below them and about 20 feet north of them. I did a /loc of his exact location, but in the excitement I forgot to write it down. I will return and get that to post it here.

After he spawns he tracks up the hill.

Some I have talked to thought he had a cougar for a place holder, this is incorrect. He spawned where no other cougar spawned and his track did not match any of the cougars on the island.

While camping him for 30 hours Lodi was killed 3 times and his map piece was destroyed each time. I recommend doing the Stormfeather camp before bothering to get your Lodi piece because of this. You can just loot the lodi piece while waiting on Stormfeather. Make sure you send a tell to the Druid camping Lodi and ask to loot the piece before hand. They tend to destroy the map so a corpse is not left to give clues to when Lodi was last killed.

Hope this helps! Good Luck to you!

Stormfeather spawned at 3:20 and went down fast
Ran to SW side of Iceclad killed Dire Wolves till Dire Wolf Stalker spawned killed looted then went to camp Lodi sat for almost 8 hours spawned CTA guild while I kited him around and killed around 11:45 est. Ran to GD killed tizmaks for Yakman meat turned into Bloodmaw last piece of map back to Iceclad turned in last piece and got Eye Patch in less than 12 hours. I cant believe I did it. I must say it was pure luck when I logged on didnt think Id even see SF let alone someone saying when he'd last been killed. I must say quidos to all who have camped SF and sat there for 29+ hours.

Stormfeather is a 18 q/2 to 20 hour spawn but can skip a spawn time then it woudl be a 26 to 40 hour spawn

not sure if that helps

Yes he does despawn if not killed that si what we tested but we arent eq rocket scienctist
