Made the mistake of aggroing this guy when tracking another named on my 55 druid in LoY era gear. I had a merc, so Bloodmaw died, but it was a long fight (for the modern game).

I can confirm:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=3825

does in fact drop off him.
Invis

Did turn-in by being at max trade range and invisible to hand in the meats. Next I clicked off invis and quickly hit trade. Easy.

Ok all here's the scoop! I just finished getting Map from a bloody gnome captive in GD zone. I charmed the Bloodmaw and handed him the 4 pcs of meat and he despawned turned to bloody gnome captive and asked him for the map, and got it! i'm a lvl 32 druid and my alt toon is a monk of lvl 32. I'm doing quest for both monk and druid at same time here. i'm hoping that it goes just as well for my monk too. if not will report back and tell what happen.. o ya bloodmaw respawned 2 mins after i asked for the map. so if you are doing it with your friends they will be able to do it right after you finish with little time to wait! woot!

Pacify him

The key is to pacify him! Then give him the meat, took me a while to figure this out

My druid cast Calm Animal on him twice before hand-in and that worked perfectly.

Now when she gives them all back all 4 Parts will be stacked on your mouse then FD again stand up really fast hand them in at Lighting speed before she aggros and your golden

Figured out an easy way with a non-calming, non-fd class. Using my beastlord I approached from behind and handed in first piece then backed out of range immediately before Bloodmaw could aggro. Repeat for each piece. No aggro, easy turn in.

for all non charmers
# Jun 25 2004 at 1:06 AM Rating: Decent
Just a quick note to all non charming classes wanting to finish the map part handin. Just finished then (me a SHD) using the pouch of misteltoe dust, which can drops from thistle underbrush in LFAY. I was lucky enough to pick up a pouch for 30 plat in the bazaar, ran over, used on Bloodmaw and completed the handin with yakman parts. Easier than begging a druid =))

to reinterate - For the eyepatch quest, kill the tizmaks in the NW corner of the zone and grab four no drop meats then head to the NE corner of the zone to the see this NPC, the loc given in another post is right on:

cave entrance: -6048,+2860
NPC location: -5947, +3218

I tried invising then standing behind him with a druid ready to invis me again but i could not seem to get a trade window to open no matter what i tried. Finally i loaded the druid lvl 52 charm, charmed him, handed in the 4 meats, he despawned and i asked the gnome for the map piece.

Faction?
# Apr 09 2004 at 12:15 AM Rating: Decent
ok, I need this guy to take meat for the Eyepatch quest. He attacks me every time I try to give him the 4 meat. I tryed sneeking..didn't work...cameoed...cameo drops and he attacks. I have not killed alot of his friends, so I don't know why I am KOS ti this guy. I can't find anywhere that he is on any faction, so that I could try and fix it. Don't know, I hope it is a bug, going back to game and try petition.
If anyone else has had this problem please post.
Thanks

I haven't done this quest, but I've helped others by charming him as a shaman. It was a piece of cake. A druid or enchanter would work as well.
RE: Faction?
# May 25 2004 at 8:13 PM Rating: Decent
Nope, you can't raise faction. This mob is kos to everyone. There are some tricks to despawn him depending in your class type:
-If you have FD (necros, SK) just start invis, handle first piece, FD, handle 2th piece while FD and stand up give to the mob and FD again... do like that untill u give all pieces.
- If you have Harmshield use it and give pieces quick

There are more tricks but that's the 2 most used one... Hope this help.

Try tagging along an enchanter with you, they can faction boost the mob, or charm it, and you can turn your peice in.

Kill Dummies
# Dec 03 2003 at 12:29 AM Rating: Decent
Okay, I'm one of the dummies that tried to kill him. I usually will kill any named I run across, or at least try. First time you see a named, kill it and loot a really nice piece, you tend to do it a lot (best example was Sigra in Trak Teeth dropped a silken cat fur worth 4.5k and was very easy kill).

I hit him with my root, snare and dots. First hint was that he didn't turn toward me. Odd. Then when I first looked to see where his health was I had to do about 3 double-takes...was still at 99 health, and my dots are 143, 92, and 34 per tick. At level 59, almost all blues drop at least 3 or 4 percent PER TICK and this guy was down only 1 percent after 4 or 5 ticks....

Obviously, this was no normal named mob, so I did an egress to break aggro and left. Was just glad he didn't aggro me and resist root. I would have been OOM long before he died, and he would have ate my little druid butt in short order.

Anyway, maybe now you have a little more insight into the mind of at least one of the idiots that kill these mobs....

Side Note: One of the down sides to all the nice changes they have made to the game is that many players advance very quickly and do not get totally familiar with zones the way we used to. Seems like I am always finding new stuff in zones that I have played a little or a lot, and there remain many zones that I have not yet explored. Guess we'll never "master" all the game....just as well!
