Warrior

On progression servers has Mitigation of the Mighty III buff and Presence of the Mighty III aura around him.

You say, 'Hail, Klandicar'

Klandicar says, 'Oi, what is this? A Wood Elf, if my tired old eyes are not mistaken. Knew it would happen. Sooner rather than later. No stopping the flood now, eh?'

You say, 'What flood?'

Klandicar says, 'The flood of beings to Velious. Starts with a trickle, like all floods. Sweeps the old away in the end, leaving a new landscape. Blessing and shame that I will not be around to see it all unfold.'

You say, 'Why will you not be around?'

Klandicar says, 'I will be leaving this world soon enough, I think. Too tired to continue this existence, too jaded to believe tomorrow would be any different than today. Seeing you here is the most exciting thing that has happened to me in aeons, and even that isn't enough to make me want to continue. Yes, it is the Necropolis for me, and the swift embrace of fire, and then my dust shall fly free as I once did.'

You say, 'You were free?'

Klandicar says, 'Dragons have never been truly free. The Claws, the Ring, the One Who Sleeps, our very nature, all conspire to keep us enslaved. We cannot grow beyond what we are now, so doomed we all are. Masters of this world we are not. Your very presence here screams this to any who have ears to hear. The Age of Scale is long past.'

You say, 'Why is the Age of Scale long past?'

Klandicar says, 'It proves how weak and static our race has become. Here you stand, in the most sacred of places, fearing nothing, daring to converse with me. If I were to consume you now, a dozen would appear to replace you. As mighty as Dragonkind is, we can never hope to match the power you wield. Dragons have limits set upon themselves, while you and your kind refuse to accept any limits. We cannot compete with that. If only we could throw off these shackles we bind ourselves with.'

You say, 'How can you throw off the shackles?'

Klandicar says, 'I do not see this happening. Too proud, too sure of ourselves, as a race we could never concede that we have anything to learn from the likes of you. We need a revelation. Something to open our eye, a poke in the rump. The Iksar almost woke us up, they had us united and striving for something for a brief while, but the Iksar Empire was in many ways as doomed as we are, too inflexible. What does not bend will break. The same could be said of the Kromzek.'

You say, 'Who are the Kromzek?'

Klandicar says, 'The Kromzek are also clinging to the old ways, they have changed no more than we have over the generations. We kill some, they kill some, nothing really changes. Now the Coldain, they are a group to admire, the first trickles of that flood I spoke of.'

You say, 'What about the Coldain?'

Klandicar says, 'I admire the Coldain They are strong because they adapt. They fought the Kromzek to a standstill, then pushed them back. They have not really crossed Dragons yet, but I feel that if they had a feud with us, they would present quite a challenge. And lo! There is a whole WORLD of peoples such as yourself, hardy and flexible as the Coldain, and here you stand at our doorstep, knocking.'

I think this is where tsolaes got hung up in a previous post, but they didn't include the whole conversation. I suspect this is likely the end of Klandicar's dialogue. I also tried a lot of different phrases with no further response. I may keep trying later but I doubt there is more.

I found his death message interesting, but no one had posted it. Well, here it is.

Klandicar's corpse says 'Well now, look what you have done here! Dead I am, as I knew I would be, if not a bit sooner than I would have liked.. But a rotting carcass upon the ground is no fit end for a Dragon. Grant me this boon, take my heart and hurl it into the fire in the Necropolis, so that my ashes may fly free.'

I resisted most of his spells, did fear me once so I used fearless to be sure.

Dropped Reinforced Breastplate, Arms, Gaunts, Klandicar's talisman and a lot of spells.

Broke my heart to do it, I'd been max ally to the dragons for most of my days, several years at least. Killing him got me to warmly, then one more dragon got me down to kindly.

I recently got max fame with the Claws of Veeshan, and had a chat with ol' Klandicar. I was wondering if anyone else has spoken with him and what I would need to say to go beyond him speaking about new races "at his doorstep, knocking". I have tried many phrases and nothing seems to get him to talk more.

Dispell = annoying. Seemed to hit random buffs. Had to refresh clicky haste + WoT thru the fight. Other than that, fight pretty much went well. drained all of clr mana from HoTs and Vow of Valor casts. Pal was 45m at time of death. pal unbuffed - 12k, 2800 w/2hs. Maxxed defensives, all offensives, cept tss. he ran at 09% iirc.

- edit - went from ally to Warmly on this kill. Did Sontalak and went from Warmly to KoS. You've been warned, CoV faction hunters :)

finally got my talisman for my shaman..

tried to solo awhile ago as 75 sk,only 200'ish aa..

now returned, boxing with 75 shaman.

75 sk 546 aa 2.0 tss unpowersourced gear..

75 shaman 33 aa, 1.0...don gear lol..

Engaged him, only thing that landed on him was lifetaps and malis.. his ae took down shaman at end of fight...every now and then had to heal sk...

took about 3 or 4 mins for fight - wasn't too hard..had a scare at the end when he was at 6% and i dropped from 45% to 28%...got a lifetap off and quick 3k heal from shaman, then he turned and ran..

btw, tried twice to land magic - slow (Turgurs insects) and cloud of grummus (disease slow), resisted both..after that i gave up on it and just stuck with healing

Pure Caster Kill on Klandicar

We killed Klandicar yesterday afternoon with an all caster group. 70 Chanter, 70 Wizard, 70 Cleric, 65 Cleric. I Box the Enchanter and the 70 Cleric. The Wizard poorly boxed his 65 cleric. Enchanter pulled Klandicar and took a few tries to land Slow - and once landed, he's not all that hard. You have to be prepared for the massive Dispelling during the battle as you will likely end up with no buffs at the end of the fight. My cleric was able to keep us up with group heals and spot heals and the enchanter and the wizard DD'd him to death. Obviously it was mostly Wizard DD's but hey, I helped. Sad that an enchanter and wizard can kill this magestic beast....
whats needed?

Hi all

We did Klandthe other day. We had 2 rng, 1 pal , 1 enc and 2 clerics one of them a bot.

From the parsing with Yalp i get this data from Kland:

DPS: 280
Max Hit: 533
Avg Hit: 292
Min Hit: 157
Fight Time: 4:40 min

I tanked, had about 11k hp with all defensive aa enabled, but no shielding at all.
1 cleric kept up heal over time on me and covered the paladin who was ramp tank the other cleric chealed me at 80%.

Hope it helps guys. Was a fun and exciting fight.
The AE debuff was a real pain and in the end all i had left was fabled gobbo earring and AON so make sure toget as many crap buffs up as you can to increase the odds that you keep Conv and focus as long as possible.

Regardst to all

Is AE Debuff Still "single slot"?

Now that debuffs are random, I was wondering if this strategy still worked?
RE: Is AE Debuff Still
# Mar 28 2005 at 12:46 PM Rating: Decent
Meaning use of "clickie". I suspect now it just adds to your odds of not losing a critical buff...
Long but fun kill

Took this guy down the other night with booted chars.. was a long, but funny fight. Warrior tanking, shammy on ramp and some dps, and cleric healing..
Klandicar Soloed

He was soloed last night by a lvl 70 shaman, time gear/god gear of course was pretty damn badass.. took about 45 minutes he had to use tash stick and could only land disease spells.
Don't use cold nukes

Icebane, the level 67 low resist nuke was resisted every cast (about 12 times). Shock of Magic (magic nuke) was never resisted.

That's Zlandicar that's imprisoned, not Klandicar. They're brothers I believe, explains the name similarities.

Thought I'd post my experience for thosing wanting to 1 group this dragon.

Something I didn't see mentioned thus far is that he is a "belly caster" you must be standing within melee range to land a spell on him. Tash lands from any distance however, so have a chanter pull with tash, then pull kland over the head of a shaman waiting to cast slow or malo, with good timing, the shaman will be right under kland when slow lands. Chanter and shaman got him fully debuffed (weakness, cripple, strangle etc), zoning into DN as needed, then all you need is someone for rampage.

Insta clickies are a must for the AE dispell, unless you want to be buffless after 10 min. We had Chanter,Cleric,Paladin,Shadow Knight,Mage, and Shaman. Paladin was great for group heals from AE nuke. 200 AA Cleric had max FT and was low mana at end of fight due to low DPS but we did it.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 02 2004 at 4:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) He's a VELIOUS mob... that was the second expansion, I believe, to Everquest... at the time you posted, before OoW and GoD, you were on the 6th expansion, and the company running the game had changed... ENTIRELY.... grow up.

We had a SK aggro and kite Klandicar a bit out from "the rock" by DN. We had the rest of the raid crew near DN. The SK made sure he had aggro for me to debuff Klandicar. I got in Malo from far away and sat on the path to attempt to slow it. It got resisted on both runs so the raid went ahead and tried it unslowed. The MT, a Pally, got aggro and the SK FD'd. I went in and attempted Malosini and got it in on the first shot. I then tried to slow again and got slow in on after only a single resist. Cripple went in on first attempt. From then on, it was only a matter of healing AE dmg and healing the MT while everyone beat Klandi down.

Klandicar dropped:
  • Klandicar's Talisman
  • Reinforced Dragonscale Sleeves
  • 2x Spell: Dictate
  • Spell: Winds of Tashanian
  • Spell: Aegis of Ro
