uhh..veeshan will never be put into the game...ever watched the introduction movie for eq? she's like 3 times bigger than Norrath..anyways, when you fight Fay, sit all your casters and healers in the water in the cave, it'll keep them from getting hit by the AE. Have a caster that's "lead" caster shout "NUKE!" when it's time for all the casters to come out of the cave and nuke, since you have to be in melee range
I realize that this was a terribly long time ago that this post was placed but it could be done, in theory. I mean think about it, they're gods they don't have to sit around in super uber form all day. Some of the local green conned NPC's could be the gods and we don't know it! It would be very easy to see Veeshan get pissed off and come down to the world in the form of her favorite dragon and say "die mortals"
Personally I think that would be a kick *** thing to see and after having a close up of cazy last night (/wave daddy) I've decided I want to see all of the gods up close and personal :)

Was on a Fay raid last night. Lvl 52 rogue, FR was 100, MR was 70 (giggle). There was a hella lotta people (not sure on the exact head count) but right as we engaged I hit my resist disc and resisted every roar. After hitting the disc I think my hardest hit on the fire was 200 or so with the average being about 60-80. Fay's AoE appears to be line of sight. As long as I stayed by his **** like any good rogue should I was taking min damage to no damage while I noticed the tanks dropping. Or mebbe I was hella lucky hard to say with the amount of lag.
And then Fay got annoyed with my backstabs and evade doesn't work so well when yer lagged <sigh>
My guild killed Fay on this night. And after reading all the posts on it, I just had to say we killed it with 24 people. Anymore would have been a waste of the people in my guild's time.
No it was not impossible, the fight lasted maybe 2 minutes, only cause it ran from the water to the bridge. About 6 people died, primarily casters. Its AE is a Fire/Dispell. I had it hit me and only debuffed one buff, not 3 as some has posted. Hit me for a max of 30, 35, and 60, my FR is 108 unbuffed. I am level 60 and resisted every single Dragon Roar (his AE Fear). I did noticed it affected more pre-55's though. So make sure to click run off before fight, you won't be as far away if it does affect you. The primary tanks hardly got below half hit points. Primary tanks consisted of the following: lv 59 war, lv 58 war, lv 55 war, lv 59 rng, lv 58 sk. And there were others but they were the main tanks. Had one lv 58 rogue with epic, and one lv 52 without. The rest were casters. Casters nuked in melee range when it got to 50% health.
I havent seen it mentioned here, but on the Fay raid I particpated in, we (the casters) were told explicitly not to sit at anytime during the battle (clarity II was up on each member, lots of chanters there). It seems Fay will aggro on a sitting caster before just about anything else.
Yeah, fire and magic resist is key, but it can be done! Good luck to all of you, this epic battle gets your heart racing! Scary and fun as heck (I also got waaay drunk and loved diving off the raised platform into the pool below, just like summer camp, woot!)
That advice (don't sit) pertains to pretty much all your "uber" encounters, not just Fay.
There are exceptions to the rule but generally, sitting is a baaaaad idea during a fight of that type. When you hear "Incoming Ubermob_00", it's time to stand up.
To go off on a tangent, sometimes you *want* to sit in a fight like that, like when the casters are doing a bind-rush on Cazic Thule or something similar... blow out your mana bar, sit at his feet, and wait for him to kill you (takes a few seconds sometimes). Re-spawn at your nearby bind spot (but not TOO nearby hehe), mem your damage spell, and sprint off for another round. Rinse, repeat until he's dead or all the tanks are. Usually only takes 4 or 5 deaths with a good crew.
That was totally off the subject, but I'm feeling especially garrulous this morning.

I was talking to the zone at the time to get some tips and they told me to look out for Faydedar...Not knowing that he has a spawn time AND can be spawned i simply swam there because i thought he could only be spawned by the Froglok Spirit for druid epic. Well i saw the spires and since i was an ogre and was told i prolly had OK Ring of Scale faction i decided to look around, then i was told they weren't SURE if he was on ring of scale faction and i saw a tiny little red thing at the bottom of the water...had no idea what this was and i hauled my ogre **** over to the firepot room and clicked the freeport pot (not KOS in freeport thank god) so now i come to this site to see if he is actually on ring of scale faction and see that he's a stupid fish with a lightbulp...i was scared of a fish with a lightbulb...**sigh**
Well after 3 straight weeks of camping the regular spawned fay I finally got my book of frost. I know you old school druids laughing at me, but it seemed like a long time to me hehe. Just follow the instructions in my earlier post and you can drop him no prob. Good luck and good hunting to you.

Sorry for the anon post earlier. Still ain't registered on this here board.
Chavr Wyrmbane 54 Paladin Druzzil Ro Coven Nex
There now you know who I am. My post was called "How to kill him"
Yes I have fought fay. I did it just last week. I would post to you when we fight him, but I am camping the regular not the spawned version of fay. Yes I have seen many dragon encounters. Now on to fay.
If you have a couple of main tank groups that are 55+ you can kill fay. You need to have an insta click buff in primary slot. Fay's ae fire will debuff one slot. Just click on your isnta after each wave of ae and you will be good.
100 fr and mr is laughable. If that is all you have buffed you are sucking. You need to get as close to 100 as you can without a single buff put on you. Then let the buffs push you on up. We killed ragefire tonite and I had fire of 165 before I used resist discipline. I had around 200 when I last fought fay. His ae hit me for like 300 or so. That is a total joke for an ae. The druid in my group just cast on me a few times is all.
Fay only hits you for like 220 or so. That is pracitically nothing. Add in defensive and a warrior is styling. Hardest thing is too keep him from ping ponging around. Paladins are good at holding agro, but you will have to watch health closely as the ae and no def will take a toll.
Just stand tanks up front and have casters a little way back. Agro control is even easier on this one cause of the smallness of the area. Even if he goes after a caster he don't run too far.
Make sure your tanks are watching their range. Once agro is established they need to be at max range to hit him. This will help the def tank to keep fay interested.
Finally if you are lvl 45 going to fay then be prepared to die. Levels are just about the most important thing in fighting dragons and other high end mobs. You will resist so much more spells and dmg taken will have less of an impact on your hp at higher lvls.
We took fay out last fight with like 24 people or so. I have seen sev fall to 4 groups with no casualties. We killed trakanon the other nite with like 4 people dead and 2 of those were after the death poisons. I hope this additional info helps you some. If you need anything else just give me a tell in game. I am never anon or roleplaying so I am pretty easy to find.
The last post on how to finish this dragon was good informatin tainted with cheap and childish insults. Thank you for the information, but your attitude earns nothing but comtempt. Be glad you are anon, otherwise nobody would ever allow you in any decent guild on your server.

Posted:Jul 08 2001 at 5:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok "Cadeny, Scholar" you have to be the biggest gimp i've ever heard of. SIXTY PEOPLE NO LESS?! wtf is that. this guy is easy to kill without casualties with 15 people ( i know, i've done it ). it would be IMPOSSIBLE to die with sixty people... lmao that's fuggin pathetic if you can't do it with less. anybody lvl 55+ with 150+ MR >OR< FR wont even be touched by dragon roar... sorry to break it to you n00bie. It's reall quite simple. 3 groups 55+ or 4 to 5 groups of 50+ take your pick. I'd bet 12 60s could do it even. with 90+ FR/MR unbuffed (not too tough to obtain the FR to 120+) plus mage DS plus circle of winter, its a pushover. have everybody in a tight circle with 5 dummy buffs and then all the real buffs you'd need (symbol+HB/aegolism, sow, FR/circle of winter, GRM/RM, mage ds helps). Ok some more newsflash for your n00b booty- "no way around having fayd attack casters first" is 100% Grade A Bullcrackers. He aggroes the first person he sees sitting... wanna know what happened? some fewl on your raid by the wall was sitting medding while your tanks were standing prepping for the taunt. well, i'll bet that caster was dead before the tanks knew where he was. so, here's what you do. tanks sit, casters stand. simple as that. once aggro is established, have ONE brave enchanter stand with the tanks and TASH asap. This enchanter should basically be sacrificed... the taunt from tash will be too high. so basically now fayd is tashed, the enc is dead, and the warriors are holding aggro. next step: shaman (highest) also stand with the melee and SLOW. he only hits for 225dmg but still he hits fast. so have that shaman basically be sacrificed as well. then, have the melee ONLY kill fayd to 60percent or less. then and ONLY then shall the nukers begin to unleash hell. NO wizard or magician or anybody should ever nuke faydedar until 60percent or less or faydedar pingpongs, casters die, raid dies. Learn your "theories" n00b. lmao... 60 ppl... how the hell do you lose with 60 ppl... you can kill trak with much less, probably even CT with 60 people. /sigh...
Mom, Is that really you? Why are you such a poor speller? Being an English Teacher, I would imagine that your ability to spell would be much higher than the average 13 year old that thinks he's cool because he uses "techno shorthand."
Also as a follow up to these posts I would like to say that the Keepers of Kithicor are a very well organized bunch when it comes to raids. A great deal of preparation goes into every raid and for the most part we are successful when we plan one. Unfortunately we had only about 20% of our guild on that night due to RL things that forced people to be offline, so in afterthought we probably should have postponed it but we wanted to get a feel for how the fight was going to be so we fought, and we died to learn what we now know about Faydedar. Use this post to place dates and times of your raids and I will make sure I attend as an observer. I will not interefere in any way but I am curious as to how many guilds will fail on the raids I get to watch if any even post here. Time will tell us who is willing to put their money where their mouth is.
This guy isn't that tuff if you just do a few simple things.
1. Make sure you have atleast 2 strong groups of peeps 55+. They will resist every fear, and the fire won't hit for much.
2. Make sure everyone has there fr buffed to the max. Resists can't be stressed enough.
3. Make sure your casters are in melee range. Saw where one guy said none of his spells landed. If you are not in melee range and try to cast on him they won't land. You got to be right at the fringe of the melee range.
4. Make sure you have a def warrior. Not necessary, but sure makes life alot easier.
We kill this guy all the time no problem. Right now I am in the process of camping the original fay since it is about the easiest way for me to get my book of frost.
My question is: Does anyone know any helpful hints for camping the original fay. Hopefully there are some old school druids that can give me some advice. Spawn times, possible spawn locs would be great if anyone knows this kind of stuff. As it is I have my bait set up on the spires and keep him online as much as possible. So far 2 spawns, but was at work and missed one by about an hour or so.
You are wrong in much of the info you posted. Not trying to flame, but I was in a fight with this guy and by the sounds of it you have never even seen it up close (You can prove to me either way by posting date and time of your next raid there and I'll come watch from a safe distance floating over the ocean after you pull it to shore (he does btw spawn close to the shore and will immediately come after the trigger man until he sees (or senses) the casters. Groups planning on raiding this guy need correct info in order to beat him and that is:
1. 2 groups of 55 tanks won't last more than 10 seconds (ours were all 55+ in tanks and they died in approximately 8 seconds), 4 groups might have a chance if they are set up with a bunch of junk buffs and then brought magic and fire resist to over 150, then attacked all at once completely surrounding him. Bring at least 60 people, no less. (If your guild does not have the manpower get other guild or guilds to help.)
2. True resists need to be raised after junk buffing. Faydedar will debuff you several times most of the time (we got lucky he didn't debuff anything on us, but I can't stress the point that we were LUCKY this is not the norm for these mob)
3. If the casters are in melee range or even within casting range he will aggro them first, no way around it, he hit us even though we were on the wall and he ignored the tanks at first. Casters are basically useless here except to buff and die for the tanks to give them enough time to finish him off, its a warriors fight. If a few get dd's to hit they are lucky and got to inflict some bonus damage, but thats it.
4. Being below 45 does not mean that our resists don't count. I know you didn't post that but someone else did right after my original post and I hav to say that I have never heard a funnier comment and something most of us know is totally incorrect. I resisted 2 AE fears and got hit with 2, so your "theory" is absolutely wrong. People under 50 can do raids if they are equipped and buffed properly and follow directions. Teamwork is tantamount here and if groups act cluless or try to do things without the rest of the groups they can ruin the raid for all. I can tell you this as one of the lowest people at this raid, and as one of the last people to die. Faydedar actually came after me and beat me to death on the wall because I did not die from his breath and spells. Again my magic was 90 and fire was 100 I believe if memory serves me correctly. I am also by no means twinked as a 45 wiz, my equipment needs upgrading badly but I was buffed correctly and got to see the end of the fight for it. If I had run out of range along th wall I would have had time to gate out but I chose to attempt to get a lock on him instead, too bad not enough people were left alive to actually finish him off. I would do it again when we go again with 4 tank groups. As I said I will post the correct and full info about the next raid when it occurs. Those of you who know me (or don'ta as the case may be) on Fennin feel free to send me tells or visit our guild website for more info. We often invite non-members on raids so if you are 45+ and would like to join in sign up at the website. Always something going on in KoK.
I guess u haven't fought uber mobs at all. Most uber guilds fight wth 30-45. Quanity isn't always good. It's quality of players that makes a bigger difference. My guild does around 35 or so and we take out vindi and VTS and stuff all level 58+. My guild took daydar down with 3 random groups with 2 clerics!!! Faydar has a wimpy aoe and wimpy fear. We even ping ponged him and won easily( we were VERY cocky).
The information you posted however is a bit wrong. Mind you, we failed to Faydader on our last attempt, but had him halfway thru the F. Eight percent to be more specific and how I know the exact percentage, I'm not at liberty to disclose.
Dragons of Kunark have 32K hitpoints. 8% is approximately 2500 so one more nuker or perhaps one more anything, cleric tank etc., would have closed the deal.
Only one tank was 55+ and that was me personally, the main tank, and I am only level 55. His agro stayed mainly on me, except when the lower level tanks were almost dead, then of course he power agro'd to finish them, then came back to me.
The next highest level tank was only level 53 and under that was a level 48 warrior. Had a 55 bard and all of the remaining melee classes consisted of a total of maybe 4 or 5 folks ranging in level from 46 to 52. We had two clerics 56 & 58. Two enchanters level 51 and 58. Two shamans 60 & 58. Two druids 59 and 54. Total was about 3 solid teams approximately.
The reason we failed was that I died when he was at 30 health. The second tank died when he was at 10 along with most of the melee classes. The casters died shortly after but got him to 8%, perhaps one more nuke he would have ran away.
My correction to your post is this. If you have two groups of tanks of 55+ all dying in EIGHT SECONDS, then SOMETHING IS WRONG with the clerics. There is NO reason EIGHT or more 55+ tanks should be dying to this guy that fast. The key to making them last is disciplines, appropriate taunting through the tank order, and having the clerics chaining cesestial and small heals through the first couple rounds so they don't draw too much agro.
I was the only tank he was melee'ing and my MR was 156 and fire resist was 167, but I did take a hard pop occassionally on the ae fire spell. Jboots however ensured my buffs remained in place.
Three groups of 55+ would probably be overkill but definitely doable. Two groups of all 55+ ranging all the up to 60 on the key classes, I'm sure can beat him. If we came within TWO nukes with half of our 3 groups present being under level 52, then the post saying 60 people is just plain comical, no offense really.
ROFL! Sorry, but that almost wins the prize for being the most clueless statement in this entire thread. Your statement "Casters are basically useless here" wins the prize, though. Every time I've ever been on a Fay raid, I've lived to tell the tale after happily slagging him down (I'm a 60 wizard, but last time I fought him I was prolly 54 or 55).
Casters useless on a dragon raid? That statement coming from a wizard, no less? Wow... I'm stunned by the depths of your inexperience and ignorance, and your eagerness to display those attributes.
Congratulations. /em hands Cadeny a dunce cap for his reward. You've finally earned your coveted pointy wizard hat.
Faydedar is a CHUMP, as far as dragons in EQ go, and you are pretty much 100% wrong in everything you posted.
Quite frankly, Cadeny, you should be ashamed of yourself for posting such horrendous disinformation on this site. Any halfway-decently-equipped guild out there (assuming they're not morons) can take him with 3 groups MAX. I've been there when 2 groups killed him on a couple of occasions, with no deaths among the raiders either time.
And the debuffing is easy to take care of... put your jboots buff in your top slot (assuming you have jboots). Voila! When he debuffs you, hit your jboots hotkey and you're gtg for the most part. He'll still most likely take a buff or 2 in the heat of battle, but that'll slow him way down on debuffing people.

As far as being the easiest dragon in the game he is, being lower in HP and resources (spells, attacks) than any other dragon. That does not mean he is easy by any means, and anyone who says he is easy has probably never even seen a dragon.
Dragons and epic mobs are designed to be fought by large groups of people working as a team. This is how EQ was designed as a team effort. Soloers don't get uber equipment because they can't solo anything epic or uber. Only large groups can take on the biggest mobs in the game.

If you are below 50 fighting this guy every Fear and AOE will hit for the max. This resists will have NO effect! Just group was just to low! A lvl 40 will not even make it through a Naggy Raid let alone a Kunark Dragon!
This information is totally incorrect. I have elaborated on the other posts as to why this is wrong, and you can read them for details if you like. I am sorry Kaylus that you were told by your guild that you could not go on raids before lvl 50, you must have missed out on a lot of fun.
KoK raided this dragon last night, and here is what happened:
We had: 6 groups 45-60 caster groups on wall as high as we could go tank groups by the trigger spot
We triggered the spawn AE fear - I turned and was pinned to the wall 3 seconds later I saw my groups hp drop and half died from breath blast (we were farthest away) I could not see the mob or the tanks to target so I summoned an eye of zomm to assist my group with targeting (we were that far away)
When the eye got down far enough all that was left was a battlefield of corpses and Fayd at 10% hp left.
Last tank died The eye disbursed I got ae feared Faydedar came up onto the wall and beat me to death (225 to 230 per hit)
30 people wiped out
Keep in mind this battle lasted less than 1 minute.
Not one lure spell hit, so that had to be just plain bad luck on our part and I am not sure if any resist debuff spels would affect Faydedar
With 90+ resists almost everyone failed their saves against his breath
We also had a lot of LD going on before during and after the raid.
I can tell you without a doubt in my mind from this raid that NO lvl 60 player under any circumstances could solo this mob no matter what they would like you to believe. There is just no way it could be done. Ever.
Also my thouhts on how we could have won would have been to have 2 more tank groups (We had 2 tanks groups, but 4 would have done it)
You need to cast a lot of junk-buffs before you get any good buffs as his ae de3buff covers the entire battle area and you will not avoid it. So does his fire and fear attack. Resists in the 150-200 range might keep you alive. (I saved on first fire atack with 100 resist but noone else in my group did and we all had about the same)
I (45 wiz) had a druid cast soe, and poison, disease, and cold resists on me, then I cast my sight spells which took care f the junk bnuffs I knew would be dispelled. Then did my shields with resists for fire and magic as well as DMF as last buffs (in case I got feared and ran into the water) Also, it is a good idea to change to walk mode so the fear doesn't take you too far.
We will be massinqg a larger force again to attempt this mob in a few weeks. Once we get through it I will post again and let you know how things turn out.
Really need info on this guy, my epic might be alitle out of reach atm, but i am getting around 1 level a day at 38, i want to kill this guy with my guild (mostly consists of shamens and warriors) so i need to know what resistances i need to buff tanks with, how many exact hp he has (most people on this didn't actually kill him all the way) and WHERE ~loc~ AND HOW I MAKE HIM SPAWN! we have a guild of more than 40 people 45+ and have a program if you want to call it that, set up to help people finish there epics and get items, i just need to know the info and i'm set.
Zaps 38th season druid Mithanial marr <Clan Ice Claw>
Went along on a raid for this guy to help a level 60 Druid get his epic. We had about 5 full groups and still failed. =(. He casts an AoE Fear and AoE Fire nuke that has a HUGE range. Fortunately if you're fighting him in his cove the pathing here doesnt send you to far, you just pace back and forth on the ramp leading to the building. He also has an AoE Dispell..about 3 buffs a cast so its important for everyone to fill up on as many crap buffs as possible before attempting this guy. Oh well...hope we get him next time.
yes this is the infamous sea monster and he kicked my money butt REAL hard ( lvl 60 rogue). Hehe also something cast a dispell buff on me and i lost my enduring breath, Boy that sucked, anyways tunare has never been killed and most likely wont be killed, innoruk is the easiest god to kill (hes only lvl 55) dont try cazic unless your in a real organized set of about 80 people too be safe and not sure if bristlebane is in the plane of mischief but other than that i think all the other gods will be introduced on shdows of luclin(NOTE: they have really screwed up qith the dragons by making the lvl 75 ones ergo they would HAVE to make veeshan higher lvl so i dont think she will be introduced in the shadows expansion but this is just my 2cp on this)
Is this the sea monster that i keep hearing that is so dangerous and I got a question what god dudes can i fight: Tunar,Casic-Thule,Innouthrk send me a e-mail and tell me Vivi1225@aol.com
