Okay, there are two different faydedars. One is for the Druid epic. He's an overgrown shrimp. He's like as tall as a gnome, which makes it embarassing to die to him. He has a cancel magic, so if you're going to fight him, first give yourself 4 crappy buffs before any good buffs. Put your svf gear on. He summons if you sit to med, or if you **** him off by casting or /rude him. He has a 500 dam AoE which goes off once in a while. With 20 people, he died in about 1-2 minutes with me being the only casualty. (Damn you Fayd :P ) He's mean for a shrimp, but an easy mob. Good Luck fellow druids who are out getting your epics.
With a bard twisting in elemental rhythm, guardian rhythm, and/or psalm of cooling plus resist gear and resist spells, you can easily get 300+ in svm/svf. With 300+ resists I usually only took under 100 dmg in the aoe and resisted almost all of the cancel magic. Only once did the cancel magic stick.
We had 3 deaths I believe with 19 people. 2 druids and a shammy. Not a difficult fight; the little guy can go down usually in under 2 minutes.
The main key is good resists and having to only heal the MA. I don't recall anyone needing a heal the whole fight besides the MA.
The version spawned by turn in for the druid epic definitely does not. The real version both in TD and OOT does. It's a rare drop off a rare mob though, so much luck *)
First off there are actually "two" Faydedars. One is the level 60 version that is often seen near the firepot room in Timorous Deep. I believe he is a random spawn that spawns daily or after patches. If he is not killed he will either despawn in 2 hours or quicker if the iksar master gets him. The other more sought after Faydedar is the one for the druid epic. This Faydedar is level 54 to 56 and is triggered by giving Froglok Essence to the dwarven fisherman in the small oasis section of Timorous Deep. Now from what I have experienced the dwarven fisherman can be on various timers depending on how the last raid on Faydedar goes. If the prior raid on Faydedar was successful, the dwarven fisherman will spawn in 12 hours. If the prior raid did not succeed, Faydedar will despawn in 30 minutes and the dwarven fisherman will respawn in 5 hours. This has been verified by an ingame guide. Word of caution, if the level 60 Faydedar happens to be up, giving the Froglok essence to the dwarven fisherman will despawn the level 60 Faydedar AND the druid epic Faydedar will NOT pop. So make sure the level 60 Faydedar is not up when you try to trigger the druid epic Faydedar. As for taking out Faydedar there are excellent guides on strategy at eqdruids.com, a must read if you are not being led by an experience Faydedar raid leader. A well rounded strong raiding party of 18 peeps can take the druid epic Faydedar.
Edit: Since the original post, it has been redetermined that if a non successful faydedar raid goes down, Dolgin Codslayer will not repop after 5 hours. He will again repop after 12 hours. So, even though guides are there to help us, do not rely on the information they provide. Or maybe the spawn is bugged like many people believe. :)
You can spawn Faydedar by handing a Frogluk Essence (aquired by killing Ulump in Swamp of no Hope) to a Fisherman on the beach named Dolgin Codslayer (hidden oasis). Fay will spawn at the end of the peir in the pool immediatly on turn-in.
Stand in the teleporter room in the deep south of TD and he will come.......as of a few days ago this is what I expect will happen as there is a new NPC there that suggests that is the case.
I thought the Fay was spawned when somebody hailed the guy on the paradise beach in the south part of zone. I remember some conversation with the guy about triggering the dragon. I did not go through with the whole thing, but I suspected that Fay could be triggered by anyone.
I went through the whole dialog with the dwarf, and he tells you that to spawn Fay, you need the froglok essence (which drops from Ulump) -- Fay does not spawn solely from the conversation. I suppose theoretically anyone who had the froglok essence could give it to the dwarf and spawn Faydedar. However, the essence itself is a NODROP part of the druid epic, so that's kind of a waste for anyone else to be carrying it.
Hey, I'm a lvl 16 Mage on the Lanys T'val server, I just made a run to the Firepot room, and made it. I had invis on, and i saw Faydedar, but he didn't agro me, so I don't think he can see invis. anyways, I can't believe i made it there. Faydedar is /so/ scary though, I was freaked out...
Acutally, Fay *can* see invis, as I know several 50+ toons who got whacked by her back before Luclin when this was the cheapest form of fast travel. You were amazingly lucky my friend...you saw her but she didn't see or sense you. /Tips hat
Also, in another previous post someone mentioned binding here. No can do. Originally, yes, binding was permitted, and those who were bound there when it got nerfed were "grandfathered" in and are still able to gate back to the firepot room. I wasn't that lucky, and even attempted to bind myself out in the water *near* the entrance, but, again, no such luck.
My best cautious advice when traveling to the Firepot Room is to have SOW or SOE, Invis and even EB just in case. Faydedar isn't the only thing to fear out there, so stear clear of Raptor Island - those guys see invis too and will tear you apart in seconds.
with the inclusion of being able to bind in Timoros Deep ane every caster and their dog probably binding at or in the firepot room, does this puppy see through invis. Just askin' 'cause its a hell of a way to anywhere for a CR.
most druids will tell you that the hardest part of their epic is, asside from finding a dozen different corrupted bish's and killing them, is killing Faydedar. he is a sea dragon, likened to Kelorek'Dar. pretty much a Nagafen clone in terms of what he does, except it is really easy to aggro him off one of your tanks. i watched my cleric friend catch a beat-down just for sitting after a heal.
anyway this suker requires a good sized raiding party. luckily he is a triggered spawn so there is no waiting involved. even better was that once you trigger his spawn (giving something or other to some NPC) you get the item back, (so if you f*** up you dont have to redo parts of the quest). but as you will read on this board, if you dont kill him, he wanders over to the iksar master and gets himself killed.
BUT!!! what if one was to KS Faydedar off the master? just a well-timed nuke to finish him off... and you can loot the quest piece off of him without the trouble. just gotta prepare to run like he|| once youre bumped up to #1 on the master's hate list ) and if you dont pull it off then youve lost nothing (except maybe some exp).
Well, this would not work, but they idea does have some merit. It seems like you could train faydedar into the master and let them fight it out a bit. Then use your raiding party to help faydedar kill the master. Once iksar master was dead then u could kill faydedar and hopefully his life would already be very low from the master. Just an idea.
KS'ing a mob from an NPC is just like KS'ing one from another player. The person who does the most damage gets the kill. Even if you manage to get a lucky nuke to get the kill (which you won't because of his insane resistance) the corpe will poof because the master outdamaged you. Nice thought though. I wish that worked. =P
During swarm kiting I charm a mob and sick him into a train--they beat the heck out of him and I watch his health drop down to 5 percent before I break charm. I then take the train with selected mob targeted with a dot of red health left and I finish him off for full exp and then loot him with no problem.
This is because when you break charm the damage meter is reset to zero. So the percentage is a percentage of the mobs remaining health when charm breaks. If an NPC does half the damage or gets the killing blow you get no exp or loot.
Not entirely true. I have been Ks'd by NPC's who happened to wander over and do less than 1% of the damage. case-in-point--observe poachers and griffons/wildlife in Jaggedpine.
Actually, the iksar master can kill Faydedar easily. I've watched him do it, it's quite entertaining. So you cannot let them fight it out in hopes that the master will lose, and then Faydedar will be near death.
I believe there are 2. One spawn around the firepots after a server patch is made and is killed about 2 days after the patch is made by the iksar master. I've been killed twice while trying to get to the firepots by this guy. He hit me with his AE for 500 and then double hit for 180 and 210. There is also a triggered spawn on the southernmost island i think. Look at the post for the iksar master for someone's description of the ikky vs. this guy.
say if my lvl 2 dark elf rogue were to use the neriak firepot would i ''port'' in the room with the pots of near this, this , THING! even if i do pop next to him my gear will still be with me but i was just wondering where i would pop
I've got to do what? Kill Faydedar? Which also lowers my faction with Gorenaire in the Dreadlands? Great, that's all I need is to be KOS to Gorenaire as well as Wushi.
And just where am I supposed to get enought %$^^& people to take down a level 60 mob?
Faydedar is level 54. Used to be 55. He was white to my friends used-to-be 54 cleric which is now 60, and yes it was a tough battle. He was the last cleric left there able to keep the MT alive long enough for Faydedar to die and the druid to loot it.
lvl 60 mob? OMFG! dude its done all the time, how do you think all those druids have their epics? lvl 70 mobs are taken down on a regular basis. once you are about 55+ you should probably have a guild that will help you do this.
I am currently a 51 druid who is mostly through his epic. I only have Venril Sathir's remains and Faydader to do. Unfortunately, I will be unable to complete my epic due to Faydedar. I am not leaving my (relatively large) guild that I have been in for 50 levels for this last piece.
The druid Epic is about the easiest one. In fact, I've seen threads from Druid complaining about how easy it is. Not everyone is supposed to get an Epic. They are supposed to be difficult.
Wrongo bud, shaman epic is the easiest. Druid pretty simple with friend // guild support, but many druids are soloers, and just dont know enough people to help. its a cryin shame those druids like myself who know thier class inside and out, never KS, never train, never go to RM just because of all the butthead druids out there doing just those things cant find guilds when so many worthless ignorant useless druids who couldnt druid thier way out of a paper bag are guilded and training people with epic in hand.
lol, he said his FRIEND'S CLERIC was 54, and is now 60.. NOT the dragon said when his friend's cleric was 54, the dragon conned even.. just clarifying =P
Wuoshi is on CoV faction, Veliuos was not around when kunark and the epics were released. RoS is just kunark dragons and stuff. if you haven't already worked on CoV, you're kos to Wuoshi anyway and if you want to raise CoV, the manor in kael is your best bet
#Anonymous,
Posted:Feb 21 2002 at 3:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i soloed this guy with my 35 warrior, got dragon hero bracer he was cake i only lost 200 hp's
mmmmmm, something's wrong here.... at lvl 35 you can solo a sea dragon that has over 10000 hps...only lost 200? maybe you were fighting a baracuda(or you're full of it) ;) my **** cons yellow to you and i wouldn't dream of soloing this baddy. Luck in battle Bulvar Biggins
they are for a quest starting in Colbolt scar, some master chef dude needs them and a few other things and he makes a very nice secondary slot item for melee's
Sea Dragon Meat is what is used for the quest in Cobalt Scar. I've yet to find a reference to Sea Dragon Scales. Have someone cast identify on it. That may help.
It would hard to have someone cast identify if this scale is no drop. I think there might be stuff out there maybe even a potion made by shammies with a charge of identify.
Here folks maybe this will help. Did him today. Loc of first underwater tunnel you have to go thru is -11500 -3800. Loc of second underwater tunnel is -1130 -1300. The fishing dwarf is who you hand the essence to. Good luck and don't expect a huge dragon like we all were..he's a little guy :) FYI he has 32K hit points.
We are either gonna kill him this weekend or next .... going to take a break from sol If you have any info on tactics for the druid triggered mob ... please post, thanks
