Dropped him today with my 53 ranger, 51 cleric and 2 mercs - cleric and tank. Very easy fight, could likely do it with cleric and ranger only. Defiant gear and threw all my veteran rewards on because I didn't expect it to be so easy.
Dropped Kavruul`s Mystic Pouch, McVaxius` Horn of War, Pod of Seawater, Sea Dragon Meat, Water Dragon Meat, Water Dragon Scales and 5 spells: Greater Vocoration (Air), Spiritual Strength, Banishment, Wind of Tashanian and Greater Vocoration: Water
Faction hits were: Ring of Scale -500 Venril Sathir +25 League of Antonican Bards +125 Mayong Mistmoore +75
Soloed him today (grey to me). Went to the pot room last night to check, but he wasn't up. This was my first time in the pot room and also the first time seeing the natural-spawned Fay. I actually aggroed him while I was sitting in the pot room...or my pet aggroed, but I saw Dragon Roar spell in my chat window and pet was attacking him. Unfortunately, both Faydedar and my pet were outside in the water and I couldn't find a way to get to him. I wanted to aggro him and get summoned, but I couldn't see (so no casting) and pet wasn't taking much dmg, so healing wouldn't have done it either. In my panic and trying to see if I could get to him, I accidentally clicked on the Kaladim pot and was immediately attacked by guards. LOL! Since I was NOT bound there, I ran back via Freeport and took the teleporter gnomes to Timorous Deep. Ran back and aggroed him in the water this time, really close to the underwater spires. He seemed to keep warping around, but I guess it was just lag. I had to just let my pet tank (72 war pet), which wasn't a problem, but he kept dispelling and fearing me, which was a bit disorienting.
Took a bunch of pictures, as I'm a sucker for old school nostalgia. Say cheese you ugly fish!
He dropped shield, pouch, orb of tishan, water dragon scales (vender trash I guess), sea dragon meat, water dragon meat and a bunch of spells.
All in all it was a fun fight, but I wish they had made him partially resistant to magic, instead of fully.
Killed the Druid epic version easily with 59 druid and warrior merc. Flees to the beach and up the ramp to the huts. Only dropped the Pod of Sea Water.
On progression servers, hits doubles for about 225, AE is 500 and you will get feared 80% of the time if your MR is below 100. 12 hour respawn for Coldin if you want to try again. Suggest bringing a Bard along for more resist power. Really not that hard of mob if you can get the resists up.
I have had my druid parked in TD for the last 9 days. Faydedar spawns in the southwest corner of the map by the underwater wizard spires. Fay has spawned every 25th hour for the first 7 days but on the 8th day Fay spawned on the 27th hour.
...on Al'Kabor, 7-18-10. Solo'd by a 65 paladin (me). This was a server first, since on Al'Kabor there is a server reset every fortnight. The reset is usually in the middle of the week, which means that few are around in Timorous Deep in the middle of a working day to kill a dragon that is only up for a couple of hours.
It spawned precisely 14 hours and 45 minutes after server up, though it had been previously reported to be up only 4 or so hours after a previous reset.
Killed a streamer before engaging, popped Wake the Dead and Swarm of Decay, resisted everything except Lifetap so I just chain tapped. Around 25% popped Lifeburn for 10k and the kill.
Found him in the south-east corner of the zone. Dropped a bunch of spells, 2x treasure hunters satchel, bracer, scale, pally book and pod of seawater.
Pretty trivial fight all in all with todays gear and AA's, ended it with about 50% mana and merc at about 60-70%.
First, Faydedar is on a 11 hour and 15 minute spawn (as someone previously said). I tried killing Ulump to get Faydedar to spawn (multiple attempts), and I can tell you with all certainty that it doesn't work that way.
Second, you need to be ready for battle As Soon As you hand the Froglok Essence to Dolgin. I didn't realize that part and got my *** handed to me the first go round.
Third, as previously mentioned, have as many junk spells as you can on before you put your real stuff on. Same for your merc if you are using one. Faydedar dispelled me to my 12th spell consistantly.
Fourth, I was able to land Winged Death and Moonfire repeatedly upon Faydedar (there was some failure involved, but more hits than misses). Nothing else non-melee seemed to work, and definately not root or snare.
Fifth, I had to kill Faydedar three times before I could loot him. The first and second times I killed him, his corpse was underwater, *seemingly* inside one of the pillars of the pier. When I petitioned about this, I was told if it happened again, to petition under "Stuck" so that a GM could summon the body out. The third time I killed Faydedar, he went from the water to the walkway over the water. I have no idea how this happened. I was chasing him and fighting in the water and then he wasn't there. At first I thought he despawned (and was about ready to take an axe to my computer), but then I got the message that my merc had killed him. I looked everywhere and was all set to petition again, when I got the bright idea to go look on the walkway. Lo and behold, there his lil dead self was. Looking back, maybe the first two attempts he popped up there as well. I honestly don't know, but if you "lose" his corpse, it would definately be worth checking out the pier itself just to be sure.
Just took the regular version down 20 minutes ago on Drinal. Was roaming around the spires, found me before I found him, he was pretty easy lame for a 74 warrior. Fight took me a couple minutes because I had to chase him down in the water while he was fleeing. He dropped a bunch of spells, RBB, shield of white dragon and the torn frost book for the pally epic (still drops. Was fun to relive old adventures
I killed the druid version today with my 2 box team.
Level 55 druid + Journeyman Tier 1 Tank Merc Level 55 Enchanter + Journeyman Tier 1 Tank Merc
Both chars are not particulary well geared, druid has a few bits of defiant but enchanter has sevral empty slots and < lvl 20 loot in others lol. But then gear is fairly irelevant as Mercs did all the work and didn't even need healing.
I made sure everyone had plenty of junk buffs and put mana regen and haste etc right at the end of the 13 or 14 buffs. The mercs toally owned Fay and hadn't even lost all of their junk buffs before he was dead.
But just FYI, the druid trigger version is far easier than the normal version. Granted, I would assume it would be pretty easy to kill the regular version, too :)
I was able to take Faydedar the triggered version down with a 60 druid with a tier 5 apprentice tank merc. Druid wis capped at 255 gives 5188 mana with equipment bonuses. He dispelled all of our buffs, repeatedly and was highly resistant to my magic and fire based spells, so I focused on heals and keeping my mana regen up. I had a stack of mana pots and went through about 10 or so. He fled at 20%. I ended up with about 20% mana left. Dropped only the quest item.
In retrospect I would have put every buff possible on both me and my merc, as opposed to the usual and specific ones (magic resist). This way maybe some would have lasted longer, but just a thought since it didn't really affect my outcome.
as a 71 druid my spells wouldnt stick on faydedar i was summoned and nethier him or me moved so i was directly under him not a single spell would stick though...so i died.
Okay, been farming the crap out of Faydedar for awhile. The spawned version pops in the far southwest corner, around the old Firepot Gate room. And unlike the other dragons, he pops every 24-26 hours like clockwork. He's the best cash cow I have ever seen. He always drops enough vendor trash to pay for a gate pot, and sometimes the magic bags. I LUBS me some Faydedar!
Killed him today, lvl 70 paly solo. He agroed me as I approached the spires, feared me, but then I clicked my resistance disc. He dispelled all my buffs by the end of the fight. Stun wouldn't land. I used 2 celestial healing pots during fight. I also used a couple skinspikes pots as he would dispell those as well. He didn't drop my book, so I guess I'll be back in a few days.
Also, I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but be sure to bring an enduring breath item. As he seems to dispell just about everything, I wouldn't trust an EB spell to last the entire fight.
He dropped: Dragon Hero Bracer Orb of Tishan Kavruul's Mystic Pouch Pod of Seawater Sea Dragon Meat Water Dragon Meat Water Dragon Scales Spell: Banishment Spell: Mala Spell: Manastorm
Kavruul's Mystic Pouch Treasure Hunter's Satchel Pod of Seawater Sea Dragon Meat Water Dragon Meat Water Dragon Scales Spell: Mala Spell: Gift of Pure Thought
1.0 Slow wouldn't land. Omens Era magic DoT landed, as did Call of Sky proc before it was dispelled. Snare also landed. Was about a 3 minute fight, been trying to camp for Pally 1.0 Book. Fight went really easy, resisted fear every time.
This morning a duo of a 71/200 ranger and a 56 druid bot took down the druid epic version rather easily.
Druid did turn in, Faydedar popped in lake and started making his way toward us. Ranger started firing arrows until he got closer. Then started melee. AoE fear hit, and ranger was sent toward the bridge to the bar, which turned out to be good. At that point I popped fearless on the ranger and started meleeing faydedar down. Druid never really did much but got hit by 500hp AoE a few times, and ran around alot feared. Ranger used one HoT pot over the whole fight.
When mob started to run, being that I was meleeing on the up-ramp of the bridge to the bar, he started heading toward the bar on the bridge. At the bar he turned around and headed back out on the bridge. So he never got close to the tunnel area. I tried to get snare to stick one or twice, but then just gave up on that.
So after one cup of coffee my druid bot has her epic 1.0.
Over all an easy quest, but very time consuming. I duo'd the quest from start to finish with ranger doing most of the work.
