I believe this is used for a quest beginning in Halas: 'combine 4 patches of gnoll fur to make a gnoll fur patch; Take four of the newly made gnoll fur patches to make a gnoll fur patch quarter. Take four gnoll fur patch quarters to make patched gnoll fur bundle (AC 4, sv5 vs cold, vgt. 4.0 back slot). This cloak can be worn or traded in above bank to the female rogue for a Fang of the Wolf, barbarian only piercing weapon.

This is GREAT for beginning taliors!. I have been buying 100s of these in Blackburrow. I suggest that any low lv taliors start collecting these if you are in the Halas-Qeynos area.
EDIT: You can get your skill from 0 to 33 going through the whole process 4 or 5 times.
