i was wondering if anyone knows if a patch has put a stop to casting this spell on your pet. i tried it, and it just says spell would not take hold.

The change isn't to prevent you from casting on your pet. It is intended to eliminate the annoying message that tells you that someone tried to cast a spell on your, but you are protected, when you are in a protected zone, such as the Nexus or PoK.

A side-effect of this change is that you can no longer practice detrimental spell casting in protected zones.

Casting Ward Undead on your pet for Evocation skillups still works in normal zones.
Totally NERFED!!

With the recent patch, this spell has been totally nerfed!! Instead of 35 to 41 damage, it's now 8 to 12!!

WTF is up with that???

You remember how badly it sucked to raise Evocation bcause the spell cost 40 mana? Now it costs 5 mana to cast it.

If you actually used this spell to nuke the undead before, then shame on you!
Use this spell!

To all young, starting Necromancers- Use this spell. Use it often. If you're sitting around waiting for a group, or tradeskilling, cast this on your pet every now and again. Using this spell over and over again while grouped waiting on a pull or waiting for rezzes or just waiting for anything, really, is the sole reason my Evocation is maxed out as a Necro. There are times when you will want to use your AE or Undead nuke lines and won't be able to, because your Evoc is so low. Then its a hassle to raise it up to an appropriate level. So take my advice, use this little baby to keep your skills up.

Amen brutha!! Thank you, I never thought of casting it on my pet.

I got approx. 100+ points of evocation with this spell in a relatively short amount of time while harvesting bone chips.

Better nuke than..... ::waits::

YOu cut off a TAD early there.

Hate their explanations all you want, their's is INFO. Pure stats. What you're looking for is comparative usage experiences.

What your offering is useless fodder.

So what exactly does your explanation add to allakhazam's?

They say:
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 35 (L5) to 41 (L11)

and
Mana: 30
Target Type: Undead
Casting Time: 2.10
Duration: Instant
Recast Time: 2

So their description tells me the spell does 35-41 damage, for 30 mana, but only to undead.

Quite frankly, thats more info than you put.

It only has a high fizzle rate because it uses the Evocation skill, a skill that *most* Necromancers don't practice much... and for good reason. Only the undead nukes and Chill Bones use Evocation.
