    This solo task is the second in a series of three and begins with Talon (click for map image) on Thuliasaur Island.

    Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
    - Minimum Level 95
    - Minimum apprehensive faction with Bloodfeather Aviaks
    - Completion of "The Ebonwing Threat"

    Say "help" to request the task.

    You say, 'Hail, Talon'

    Talon says '_____, just the _____ I wanted to see. As you no doubt surmised, the guardians and tenders that inhabit the Ebonwing nest are merely servants to the Ebonwing Matriarch. Although we have not seen sign of the Matriarch in years we have lived in fear of her presence ever since we arrived on the island. Given malevolent nature of these tenders I fear the longer they remain in service to the Matriarch the more likely it is that she will be turned against us. So I must once again ask for your [help].'

    You say, 'What help do you need?'

    Talon begins detailing his plan to turn the Matriarch against the malevolent tenders.

    You have been assigned the task 'Softening the Shells'.

    Talon, the Bloodfeather tribe's leader, believes that a bit of subterfuge is the best plan to deal with the Ebonwing tenders. He suspects that if the Ebonwing eggs end up damaged with no obvious connection to the Bloodfeathers that the Ebonwing Matriarch will suspect the tenders to be at fault.

    Extract a bit of venom from a glistenwing butterfly. Extract the blood of a vicious parasite. Harvest the stinger from one of the colossal soulsippers that roam the jungle.

    Kill a glistenwing for its venom 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

    Kill any glistenwing to receive "Volatile Glistenwing Venom".

    You drain a bit of highly toxic glistenwing venom from the butterfly's corpse.

    Kill a vicious parasite for its blood 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

    Kill any "a vicious parasite" to receive "Toxic Jungle Parasite Blood".

    You drain a bit of caustic blood from the parasite's corpse.

    Kill a soulsipper for its stinger 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

    Kill any "a soulsipper" to receive "Soulsipper's Stinger".

    You rip the poison tipped stinger of off the soulsipper's face!

    Deliver the components to Talon 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

    Hand them in all at once to receive a "Highly Concentrated Jungle Toxin".

    Talon accepts the deadly poisons and begins concocting them into a stable suspension. After a mere minute he delicately hands you a vial, 'This should do. Make haste to the nest and avoid as much confrontation as possible.'



    Poison the eggs in the Ebonwing nest 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

    Task Window Says: Do your best to sneak into the Ebonwing nest and spread the poison before you are overrun by irate birds.

    Head into the Ebonwing nest at about /loc 900, -1600, 334 (due south of the aviak village), and right-click the toxin. Note that all of the vulture-looking Ebonwings see invisibility. There are three ravens inside the nest, all of which are a PH for the named raven Hemocoraxius, so use caution here.

    You spread a bit of the toxic substance over each of the eggs in the hive and watch as small cracks form in the dark shells.



    Speak with Talon 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island)

    You say, 'Hail, Talon'

    Talon listens intently as you recount the details of your assignment. He nods then takes a moment to consider the situation. Seconds pass before he speaks, 'We will have to see how this plays out. When you return to me I will either have good news or a final assignment for you. Thank you for all the help you have provided, _____.'

    Talon must now assess the situation. Return to him when you are ready to see how his plan has played out.

    The ebonwings are a pain. They see thru all invis (not sure about SoS but I don't box a rogue), they can't be snared/rooted and most are too high to pacify. My first attempts were to cast divine aura on a toon, round up the entire nest worth of birds and run off with all the ebonwings in pursuit. Then my other toons could, in theory, move in and do the clicky, which requires 2 seconds cast time and that the toon is physically IN the nest. Problem is the named raven was up, whose dot seems to cut through divine aura so my puller died before getting far enough away. (The 40k/tick dot was mitigated to 28k/tick, but that's still a fast death, particularly if you're running, not paying attention and thinking anyway that divine aura is protecting you!)

    Next try: the hard way, fighting. Not really so hard, though. I cleared 4 birds to move up the ramp. Then I could creep my group over to the east wall, right adjacent to the nest. One roamer paths along there which you have to kill. The chicks and smaller birds are all <=105 so they can be calmed. We had the named UP so we pulled and killed it. Easy fight. Then clear any chicks around the nest that might agro. Run each toon over just inside the nest and click away.

    I was boxing. With multiple players, pulling the entire nest temporarily would probably be adequate, if you don't want to have to kill 7 or so mobs to get 'er done.
