This solo task is the second in a series of four. It begins with Harbinger Orok (click for map image) in the Heart of Fear: The Rebirth (middle level). He is found at the end of the bridge that extends southeast from the platform above the pit in the center of the zone. Pre-Requisites: - Level 85 - Completed "Lost Harbingers" You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Orok' Harbinger Orok says 'I tolerate your presence here, _____, because our Lord demands it. Restoring Cazic-Thule to his rightful place in the pantheon of Norrath is my only concern. All else is but a distraction. You will devote your life to that same cause here, or I will end it. Take [this].' You say, 'What's this?' Harbinger Orok says 'You hold in your hands an actual piece of Cazic-Thule, bursting with his fearsome power. Stab it into the gestation chambers of his would-be usurpers to draw them into battle prematurely. Kill all that would threaten the Lord of fear!' You receive a Cazic Shard. You have been assigned the task 'Channeling Cazic'. Harbinger Orok, a devoted and somewhat creepy worshipper of Cazic Thule, has enlisted you in his war to kill all challengers to Cazic's throne. Use the Cazic Shards on gestation crystals 0/10 (Heart of Fear: The Rebirth) Kill 10 newly formed monsters and alaran believers 0/10 (Heart of Fear: The Rebirth) Task Window Says: Orok has given you a piece of Cazic's power and asked you to stab the Cazic shard into gestating crystals. Stabbing a gestation crystal will cause the monster incubating inside to break out and fight you. Orok wouldn't mind you killing the Alaran believers around the area as well. Alaran Believers (click for map image) are found scattered all throughout the zone, but tend to be found in their highest numbers towards the zone-outs. There are also a few spawns on the ramp leading down into the pit in the center of the zone. Gestation crystals in many places throughout the zone (click for map image). Each time you click one, a "newly formed" mob (KOS) spawns and you see a random emote: You hear the voice of Cazic-Thule in your mind. . . I grow stronger with every bite. Bring me more sacrifices! Yes! The power . . . it feels wonderful! The weak will be culled, and only I will remain! I hunger for power still. Find me more! That simpleton was pathetic. I barely felt it. Note that these clicks do NOT break invis and it is not necessary to kill the newly formed mobs. Hail an Alaran sentinel 0/1 (Heart of Fear: The Rebirth) Task Window Says: The weaklings are dispatched; now it's time to handle a bigger threat. Find an alaran sentinel to issue your challenge. Sentinels can be found in and near the cavern below Orok. Alaran sentinels (click for map image) can be found around the perimeter of the giant pit in the center of the zone. After speaking with a sentinel, it attacks. You say, 'Hail, an alaran sentinel' an alaran sentinel says 'Don't approach me like we're allies, fool. I know your intentions. Prepare to die!' Kill an Alaran Sentinel 0/1 (Heart of Fear: The Rebirth) Task Window Says: The sentinel immediately attacked you. Defend yourself and slay it. Upon its death, you are ported to the bottom of the pit in the center of the zone. There, you will find The Silent Herald. You are surrounded by the last of the Sentinel's power. In his dying breath, the Sentinel BLINDS YOU! an alaran sentinel has been slain by _____! an alaran sentinel's corpse crumples to the ground in defeat. The Silent Herald says, "You have slain my servants. You have killed my sentinels. And you do this out of some twisted love for Cazic Thule? The time of the old gods has ended, _____, and new gods are already emerging. I do not kill you now because it's not too late to change sides. Speak with me and I may yet spare you." Speak with the Silent Herald 0/1 (Heart of Fear: The Rebirth) Task Window Says: With its dying breath, the sentinel sent you to its master. Speak with the Silent Herald. You say, 'Hail, The Silent Herald' The Silent Herald says 'Serve me in this, _____: Return to your old allies, those who would follow the old gods. Tell them that we will tolerate no more incursions into this region. Starting now, anyone we encounter who does not follow the Unspoken shall be put to death.' Deliver your report to a Harbinger Agent 0/1 (Heart of Fear: The Rebirth) Task Window Says: Report what you've heard to the Harbinger Agent, located near the Harbinger spy on the central platform at the top of the cavern. The agent (click for map image) is found on the platform above the pit in the center of the zone. You say, 'Hail, a Harbinger agent' You tell the agent about your encounter with the Silent Herald. a Harbinger agent says '_____, regardless of how you feel about Lord Thule, you have done all of Norrath a huge favor. Thank you for your assistance!' a Harbinger agent says 'Speak with the spy to my right for your next task.' Your task is complete. If you happen to die while killing the newly formed and dont get the update for killing the newly formed and get the 10 gestation crystals update the cazic shard will not click an extra one to give you another newly formed to get the second update. But you can just fight the gestation crystal to get them.
As of 2013-07-17:
- mobs spawned by clicking the Cazic Shard on a gestation crystal do not despawn. If they're not killed, they just pile up on the spawn point, which makes for an interesting time navigating around groups of the gestation crystals.
- clicking the Cazic Shard does not break invis; however, if the click results in the gestation crystal despawning and popping a "newly formed __________", the new mob is auto-agro to the person who clicked the Shard.
- the mobs are about as difficult as normal zone trash (maybe slightly fewer HP) and /con yellow to a level 100 toon
- mobs spawned by clicking the Cazic Shard on a gestation crystal do not despawn. If they're not killed, they just pile up on the spawn point, which makes for an interesting time navigating around groups of the gestation crystals.
