This group mission is the second in a series of five. It begins with Daemon Darkdawn (click for map image) on the Barren Coast, located at approximately 745, -625, on top of a large hill.
Pre-requisites for Requesting:
- Completion of "Sunstone Savages"
At the end of the previous task, you saw:
Daemon Darkdawn says, "Arrr, you've brought a tear to this old salty dog's eye! Those goblins didn't know who they were messin' with! But we're not done with those bilge rats just yet! Not by a long shot! What's this that you brought me? The king held it ye say? Hmm, well lets have a look at this here [charm] shall we?"
You say, 'What about this charm?'
Daemon Darkdawn says 'Aye. I been talking to Brynden and he agrees. There's something rotten on that rock and I don't think I be done getting' the vengeance me and me crew need. Go back thar and find out what that symbol does and smash up them red goblins. Go talk to Brynden and see what he can tell you about them fire goblins and that volcano.'
You have been assigned the task 'Altar Call'.
Daemon Darkdawn wants you to go explore the Cave of Inferno and search for booty. Break anything that looks important to the goblins. Oh, and kill a few while you're there. Find passage on one of the Freetide Merchant ships and head to Suncrest Island to prove yer mettle! Use the rowboat that you left on the shore to row back out to the boat when you're done.
If you hail Brynden Snow at the Blacksail Smugglers camp, you get a little bit of background information about Suncrest Isle:
Brynden Snow says 'Ah, I see you've met Daemon. I wouldn't trust everything he says. But if he's mentioned me, then I'm sure he wants to know about the goblins on Suncrest. You look like a more reasonable person than that revenge-sodden fool Daemon, so I'll tell you what I know about the Suncrest goblin clan. I know that they worship Solusek Ro. I'm pretty sure that both clans on the island, the Tidewater and Suncrest clans, were once the same clan. They split over religious beliefs, one group desired to follow Solusek Ro and the other wanted to follow Prexus. In both cases they appear to have been accepted and blessed by their respective gods. The Suncrest goblins stay near the volcano and hold rights to Solusek Ro either at the base of the cone or perhaps inside the caves.'
Purchase tickets to Suncrest Isle and catch the boat 0/1 (Barren Coast)
Dockmaster Weatherby says 'You look like you've been at sea on a dangerous mission for a while? Perhaps you plan to head back out, in which case you're going to need to purchase another ticket before boarding the Isabeau.'
Buy a "Seafarer's Ticket: Suncrest Isle" from any of the Dockmasters along the coastline and keep it in your inventory. When the ship docks, step onto it and wait for it to sail out to the Buried Sea. Upon zoning, you'll find yourself in an instanced version of the island.
Slay 25 Sunstone Goblins 0/25 (Suncrest Isle)
Kill 25 goblins along the north half of the island. Also, it is advised that you clear the goblins in the northeastern cave (towards the big crystal), otherwise you'll have extra clearing to do.
Destroy the Altar of Solusek Ro 0/1 (Suncrest Isle)
You need to kill 4x "a burning crystal" (lots of hitpoints) that surround the altar. The crystals don't attack back; however, as soon as one is attacked, 4x "a burning elemental" spawn around the altar.
These elementals each hit for a max ~1,500 and proc a nuke for 500 dmg. The elementals are mezzable and stunnable, and respawn almost instantly when killed. If you can range DPS, you can avoid their aggro by standing back in the tunnel and DPS'ing the crystals from a distance (pets work well for this). If not, you'll have to contend with the four elementals while you destroy the crystals.
Once a crystal is destroyed, you can kill the spawned elementals. They won't respawn until you attack one of the other crystals. (Note also that you'll only get as many elemental spawns as there are crystals, so you'll deal with less of them as you progress.)
This step updates when the last of the burning crystals is destroyed.
Note: The flaming skull object in this area is related to the task "No Small Thing". It does not relate to this task.
Near the zone-in area is a rowboat that you can click to port you back to the Buried Sea:
You get into the longboat and row out. You are quickly picked up by one of the many merchant ships sailing the waters of the Buried Sea and delivered safely to the dock on Jardel's Hook...
Speak with Daemon Darkdawn 0/1 (Barren Coast)
You say, 'Hail, Daemon Darkdawn'
Daemon Darkdawn says, "Well did you find any booty? Or anything worth smashing to bits? I'm certain you killed a few more of those goblins as well didn't you? Some kind of Altar you say? Well this is interesting, I'm sure Brynden will want to hear about this."
(Brynden doesn't have anything new to say.)
Rewards:
- Doubloons (number varies)
- Faction with Blacksail Smugglers (+25) |
