Take the griffon to the upper level but do not go through the gate guarded by the two Guardian of the Gate. Go past them to the west.

This solo task does not have a time limit.
This task begins with Rokiln the Hunter in Vergalid Mines. You say, 'Hail, Rokiln the Hunter' The spirit speaks slowly, 'Greeetinnngs. . . Though you be not my kindred, you have proven your worth by delivering these noble hunting trophies to honor my grave. In return for this great service, Troll, I will tell you the [tale] of this tomb.' You say, 'What tale?' Rokiln the Hunter says 'For many years, my ancestors held these mines, until the dragon men came. . .' Rokiln now offer his four different tasks... Rokiln's tomb was once a vestibule for storing artifacts of the giants. The tomb has since been raided and looted by drakkin who have overrun the mines. Among the objects stolen by Dyn'leth's armies was an old giant artifact known as the Shield of the Otherworld. The artifact held special spiritual significance to the giants as it contained the names of all their fallen warriors, heroes, and kings on three interlocking disks. Dyn'leth, realizing this significance, smashed the disk and awarded the broken shards to his various captains and commanders as trophies. The Disk of Heroes was sent with Dyn`Leth's followers who were assigned to Direwind Cliffs. Return the remnants of the Disk of the Heroes to Rokiln at his tomb. All Fragments of the Heroes' Disk can be found in Direwind Cliffs. Of the six he was the hardest to get to spawn. He spawns in the same camp (Grey Legion) as Legionnaire Shylock but I saw Shylock at least 5 times for every 1 time that Chaplain Rourke spawned.
I got him the third and final time only because the zone had crashed and reset.

This is a common drop at the undead camp West of the ZI in Direwind. The named 'Marrowrot' doesn't drop much else as a matter of a fact. gl, all.....

Does this quest update when looting the item or on the turn-ins? Ie can you loot them before you have the quest and it still work?

got the second fragment off of named in the undead camp in direwind, he droped it every time, sorry but i do not remimber his name

Only Disk of Warriors fragments will drop in Vergalid. The Disk of Heroes drop in Direwind and Kings in Ashengate.
None of the fragments for Disk of Heroes are found in Vergalid Mines. They are all found off different named mobs in Direwind Cliff.
The Ashen Ambassador drops one in the top undead camp by Ashengate.
Kendra the Archer drops one in the Black Legion Camp.
At least 1 comes off named in the Grey Legion camp.
And I cannot remember what dropped the other 3. Named though in some of the other groupings in the zone.
