    You say, 'Hail, Shazda Kaekwon'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Shalom, _____! I welcome you to our humble village in these [trying times].

    You say, 'What trying times?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'There are many threats currently facing this village. The kobolds of Clan Kolbok are becoming bolder in pushing the boundaries of the territory in which they usually hunt. A few of the kobolds now hunt recklessly, killing for pleasure instead of sustenance. [Rognarog] the Infuriated is the most murderous of such kobolds. Then there are the [heretics] that have been invading both Clan Kolbok and Kejek territories alike, practicing their dark sorceries as a show of devotion to their faceless god.

You say, 'What about the Heretics?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'The heretics have not only corrupted their own spirits but they defile the spirits of the dead with their evil sorceries. Fill this satchel with the heads of invading heretics and I shall reward you for your allegiance to Kejek.

Receive Burlap Satchel. Inside it, combine four Heretic Heads (any combination of male and female heads works). Then hand in the Satchel of Heretic Heads.

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Less heretics to defile the lands and spirits. You have the gratitude of Kejek for your assistance in repelling the heretic threat.'

Your faction standing with Kejek Village has been adjusted by 8.
Your faction standing with Peace Keepers has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 8 copper from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 7 gold from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 3 platinum from Shazda Kaekwon.

Sometimes you may receive Kejekan Tribal Headband or Swiftclaw Sash. These are not common, however.

    # Jan 21 2002 at 11:52 PM Rating: Decent
It is my thought that the heads you turn in do not make any difference in the reward. When you obtain four heads, you put them in the bag, hit combine, and the bad turns into a satchel of heretic heads. Now, in probramming terms, this satchel's code is in no way related to the heads used to create it. When you turn in the satchel, you get a reward. Every time you turn in the satchel, it is the same satchel, identified by the same code, and not in any way identified by the heads that " in game " are in it. Nothing is inside the satchel, as far as the game sees it.

What I find funny and interesting is the fact that there are people who are trying to figure out haste on these items using weapons with a delay of 20 to 40. For those with the mathematical mind to figure this stuff out, it shouldn't be hard to realize that a *longer* delay on a weapon will give you more accurate results for testing something like a haste change. So why not test it on something like a weighted axe? Even if you are figuring by seconds instead of tenths, a delay of 150 is really easy to notice a percent change in, as opposed to something that moves at 1/6th of that speed anyway. And if you can create a low-level mule (who would then *not* have double attack/dual wield) you would also get better results with less chance of flaw. Just my 2cp. I'm off my soapbox now....

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 01 2002 at 12:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As so many quest are this is basically a druid quest, without tracking and sow good luck EVER getting the kill on one of these Heretics. And of course after reading these posts sounds like a lot of high level druids camping it to....More proof that the Druid class should be renamed loot ***** class :P

Rangers have tracking. Rangers have SoW. Rangers need haste much more than Druids do. Why don't you go bash Rangers? Or better yet, spit out those sour grapes and go make some Druid/Ranger friends.

Most Druids are happy to help out...as long as you aren't an ***.

    info on heretics
    # Dec 20 2001 at 9:42 AM Rating: Default
I am a lv 21 ranger and the heretics con yellow. I started this quest yesterday with a druid friend, also lv 21. Of about 6 hours play time, we saw 3 heretics. We were not looking for them the whole time. We only killed one of them because adds killed us the other 2 tries. A system that works well for locating them is to folow the river upe and down, from the ocean to the kobold village. Do this every 2 hours or so. You will see an invader about every time on a 2 hour time frame following your first siting. They are easily killed for 2 lv 21's but can cast fear. They roam not because of a very random spawn, but because they fear kite all of the animals within aggro range. It is very funny to watch. Be patient and the quest should not be difficult.

Modifying my prior post. I play on one of the zeks. The ranger and druid are both untwinked and our main characters. The zone is usually empty but for about 3 other people. The shadow knight heretics, the males, will Harm Touch you, even if u pull with snare. It does not seem to be a point blank HT like what and SK has. It hits for around 200 dmg

I started this quest a couple of days ago, and within about 2 days of off and on hunting heretics, i got my 4 heads (2 female and 2 male). Well, wouldn't ya know it?? The first time I've ever done this quest (I swear to God!) and I got the Swiftclaw Sash! I couldn't believe it!

Should I wait a few lvls (lvl 22 monk) to try the quest or just get in a higher lvl group for them?
    RE: Sash
    # Jan 01 2002 at 12:14 AM Rating: Default
Ok your not going to get a group for these guys unless it's with a friend because everyone would wanna kill these guys for the sash.. Im grouped with my Bro so im fine btu you won't find a group for the reasons above and cause they spawn about every 30min to 1hour.. So jsut lvl to about 26 or so then you can solo them. But be aware that they cast fear and mean mean DD on you ok. Fems hit with one for 146HP. And the males hit with one for 200+ om my experiance.

I can tell you what happend tonlee, same thing that just happend to me hehe. have to hit the "combine" button before you turn the pack in.
now, as too where you should be to see heretics, i dont know if druid tracking would be high enough, as i am a ranger but ive had alot of luck camping for them up the stream a little below and above the small kobold camp. theyve popped in the mountain area, either on it or in it somewheres, so if your a druid thatd be the place to camp, although there are alot of wandering mobs to worry about if your looking for exp at the saem time.

    Good luck all

My two coppers, as it were. I am a 46 druid on Bristlebane Server and have been doing this quest since the first week of patch. I have turned in and gotten over a dozen headbands and not a single sash. Faction is getting sweet with them since i have done over 20 Waks and given them to my guild cause i couldnt carry them all. I know my faction is up to Amiable at least if not friendly yet. I guess Ill keep picking at it and hope. Best of luck and congrats for sure to those that are ahead of the curve and have a sash already.

    Broken quest?
    # Nov 22 2001 at 3:11 AM Rating: Decent
Was hunting for the four earlier today when someone shouted they had killed them and did the steps for finishing the quest and turned the pack <bag whatever> in and was told 'Thank you yada yada' but no coinage, no faction, no item. The person said they were 'Uber Bummed' then left zone. This person is trust worthy as players go so I do not think they were lying about the failure.

Well, ive done this quest 2 times so far with my 30/31 ranger, both times ive gotten the headband. so, i try again. first time around i got 4 male sk's just before i got to him, and then second time around 2 males 2 females. as posted above i would have to say its just a rare (one in four?) reward, but worth it all the same once you get one. even though i havent gotten a sash, just seeing "a heretic invader" on tracking gets my adrenaline pumping all the same :)

    Good luck all

any bards out there know if this stacks with any of our songs?
    RE: stack with bard haste??
    # Nov 17 2001 at 10:55 AM Rating: Default
Yes, Bard songs do stack with this belt. Almost all Bard songs stack with weapons/item effects and a lot of casters spell effects. If you have two items with haste effects, it will discard the lowest one and use the more powerful one. Plus you can only have so much haste alloted to you with Items/Songs/Spells.

    What the heck?
    # Nov 10 2001 at 9:08 PM Rating: Default
Umm ok one thing. Regardless of what class you are you will get it at totally random times. And
it is all/all, not just a monk item. And why wouldn't rangers need it? Last time I checked, they are damage masters too and less delay always equals more damage. Anyway this sash rocks...
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 10 2001 at 3:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) whatyou guys dont under stand is that MONKS have a MUCH BETTER cahnce of getting the sash... i suggest you get a monk freind to turn in the bag of heads and maby youlget the sash, ive seen hundreds of posts saying that rangers all get like 5 head bands!!! just cause you can track dont mean its easyier for you... jsut my 500 bucks. PS ,let us monks get the dang sash rangers dont need it like monks do.
    RE: its a MONK sash.....
    # Nov 23 2001 at 2:54 PM Rating: Default
Rogue, Warrior, Monk, AND Ranger would be the most effective with the sash...pallies and SKs would be happy with it as well but are not quite as offensive as the others...according to the recent Melee patching Rogues are way above warriors in melee damage, monks are about a third of the way past warriors to rogues and rangers are 90% offensive wise and pallies and SKs are said to be at 75% or a warrior's capabilities...of course a warrior with rusty weaps will get beat by a pally with epic...aw heck you get the picture....the sash would best suit those 4 classes tho
    RE: its a MONK sash.....
    # Jan 12 2002 at 3:09 PM Rating: Default
I tend to disagree with you on your post. I am a 49 Shadow Knight on Bristlebane, and i know for a fact that SK's can keep aggro (if they keep taunting) over any of the melee classes. I was grouped with a typical warrior (Wurmy/Yak, bla bla bla) and I am a Typical SK (MoSS/Sarnak Battle Shield). The Warrior did indeed do more damage than i did, but that's only because of Dual Wield, and him being 5 levels higher than myself. He was taunting each fight as i was, but the damage was all comming to me. SK's are far better taunters and Great tanks that should not be over looked when considering melee classes. SK's still have Double Attack and most SK weapons are better than War weapons. Mace of Shadowed Souls is 19/29 and wurmy is 25/40. A miss with wurmy is like missing with a 2her, it's slow. SK's with a belt like this would be Mucho fast and hard hitting as a bonus. As a melee class we may not deal as much damage as your typical dual wielding class, yet we can Easily interupt spells and draw a lot of aggro with our own.

just my 2cp and counter flame =P
    RE: its a MONK sash.....
    # Mar 11 2002 at 10:31 PM Rating: Default
I'm not talking about taunt. thats a different story, SK's got all melees beat there, followed by rangers.

And yes directly from VI's huge post on the melee changes, A simarily equipped Sk will to roughly 75% of the melee damage as a 75% warrior. On the other hand, pallies/SK's have 90% or warrior defensive abilities and rangers have 70-75ish. Our spells are supposed to be the equalizer to warrior level.
