At the end of the previous quest, Maesyn Trueshot mentioned a next incarnation of the bow.

You say, 'What is the next incarnation?'

Maesyn Trueshot says 'The Trueshot Longbow was once enchanted by the Koada'Dal enchanters. Once it was enchanted now it is no more. I am sure if you were ask the Koada'Dal [where the enchanted bows] are you will get an answer.'

Go to Felwithe. Kinool Goldsinger may be found in the Enchanter guild.

You say, 'Where can I get an Enchanted Bow?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'Alas... Another ranger in search of the [Rain Caller]. She is no more.'

You say, 'What is the Rain Caller?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'Rain Caller is the name we give each Trueshot longbow once it is enchanted. Unfortunately, I am unable to enchant them any longer. One of the components is no longer available. Someone would have to strike a [deal with the fairie folk]. Once I have that and the [remaining components] I can create the Rain Caller, a ranger's bow.'

You say, 'What deal with the fairie folk?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'The fairie princess, Joleena, used to have a metal gnome deliver [fairie gold dust] to the Keepers every month. She has stopped this and now refuses to offer it to any nation of Faydwer. What she is angry about, we do not know.'

You say, 'What fairie gold dust?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'Fairie gold dust is an enchanted powder which only a fairie princess can create.'

You say, 'What remaining components?'

Kinool Goldsinger says 'The remaining components are the Trueshot longbow and a treant heart. There will also be the guild donation in the amount of 3000 gold coins. These and the [fairie gold dust] will merit a ranger the Rain Caller enchanted bow.'

Princess Joleena may be found in the Lesser Faydark.

You say, 'Hail, Princess Joleena'

Princess Joleena says 'I am the Fairie Princess, Joleena. You may stay amongst my people, but do not nibble from our homes.'

You say, 'I want fairie gold dust.'

Princess Joleena says 'You wish the magical Fairie Gold Dust? Hmmph!! I refuse to offer it to any of the giants of Faydwer. How can I trust any of you. You have crept up upon my me and snatched one of my wings from my back. There will be no Fairie Gold Dust until my wing has been returned to me. You may not be the stalker [who snatched my wing], but all you giants are similar. Prove me wrong and return my wing.'

You say, 'Who snatched your wing?'

Princess Joleena says 'I did not see the swift giant, I was blinded by the sun glaring off his balding head. I do remember the smell of rust and refuse. How he got past my Clockwork Guardian, Gearheart, is a mystery to us all.'

The bald "giant" she's talking about is Sanfyrd Featherhead in Ak'Anon.

You say, 'Hail, Sanfyrd Featherhead'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Greetings. I am the operator of this Scrapyard. If you have any Scrap Metal I would be glad to purchase it from you in loads of four. The Gemchoppers no longer allow me to accept Blackbox Fragments and Micro Servos.'

You say, 'Do you know where Princess Joleena's wing is?'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'No!! You cannot have my magic Fairie Wing!! I need it. I read somewhere within the great library that the magic wing from a fairie princess will restore my full head of hair. Look at me!! I am bald!! I have no [friends] at all.'

You say, 'I am your friend.'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Oh. You are just saying that so you can get my fairie wing. I will make you a deal. I cannot rely on this wing forever. I will trade it with you if you could get me a case of hair tonic. If you are a true friend you [will fetch the hair tonic] for me.'

You say, 'I will fetch the hair tonic.'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Great!! Here you go, my friend. Take this crate and within you shall fill each slot with hair tonic. When all are combined within the crate, return it to me for your wing. I am not sure what the tonic was or where I got it. There is some writing on the crate, but I could not identify it.'

You receive a Crate for Tonics, a 10-slot SMALL container. You must now go to Freeport. Ping Fuzzlecutter is a gnome merchant located outside the west gate. Buy 10 of Fuzzlecutter Formula 5000 from him, enough to fill the crate, then hit combine to craft A Crate of Tonic.

Upon Hand In of the crate to Sanfyrd:
Sanfyrd Featherhead says, 'Huzzah! You are my friend. Now you can take my old toupee and get it repaired. Just go to Freeport and ask Ping to [repair the toupee]. Hey! You know what? He is the guy who sells the hair tonic! I remember now. Well... Get my toupee repaired and I will give you the fairie wing.'

Sanfyrd Featherhead says 'Huzzah!! You are my friend. Now you can take my old toupee and get it repaired. Just go to Freeport and ask Ping to [repair the toupee]. Hey!! You know what? He is the guy who sells the hair tonic!! I remember now. Well,.. Get my toupee repaired and I will give you the fairie wing.'

You receive a Tattered Toupee, which identifies as "Sanfyrd's Used Toupee." Head back to West Freeport and Ping Fuzzlecutter.

You say, 'Can you repair the toupee?'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'Ah!! You have a toupee to repair. It must be the [Mane Attraction]. I gave one out and it seems to always fall to pieces. Seeing as it has a 100 season warranty and I only created it 5 seasons ago, I suppose I can do it. Do you want me to [make the Mane Attraction]?'

You say, 'What is the Mane Attraction?'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'The Mane Attraction is a special toupee I created for a Gnome junker. He wasn't getting much attention at the taverns till I created the eye-catching toupee. He became one charismatic Gnome after that. Unfortunately, it seems to fall to pieces too easily and since it has a warranty, I have to fix it for him every time at no charge!! I will never make another.'

You say, 'I want you to make the Mane Attraction.'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'If you have the original tattered toupee then I can do it. Before you give it to me I will also need three other items. I require two clumps of hair from a Hulking Gorilla and a strand of hair from a [certain mermaid].'

You say, 'What certain mermaid?'

Ping Fuzzlecutter says 'I encountered a particular mermaid with beautiful hair!! She had beautiful golden tresses. I used a lock of her hair to create the Mane Attraction. That was a while back when I was in Faydwer.'

A Hulking Gorilla may be found in the Feerrott. Clumps of Gorilla Hair also drop occasionally from A Gorilla, A Large Gorilla, and A Silverflank Guardian, also found in the Feerrott.

A Golden Haired Mermaid may be found in Kedge Keep. She drops A Lock of Hair.

Upon killing A Golden Haired Mermaid:

I went into Kedgekeep today, (after researching it a bit) with a friend of mine. I am a lvl 41 ranger, he was a level 45 Cleric. We were the only two people in the zone, we cleared the first floor, and then proceeded to kill the pirannahs and place holder in Goldie's room about 6 cycles until she spawned. We killed her, took her hair and left. Just the two of us. Thx all~

You give the wing to Princess Joleen of the faeries. She then gives you some faerie gold dust <the part I am waiting on> and then you give the gold dust, treant heart, TS bow, and 3000 gp to the High Elf who started you on your quest to receive the Rain Caller.

It appears that the Nameless is now nolong Corrupt. When I found out I hauled myself over and completed the Quest. I enjoy haveing this for the bragging rights as much as anything. But now its time to go for that nasty little bow in Howling Stones. They call it the uzi I think the delay is insanely fast for a bow. I think that is my next bow.

Sorry Friend but the dust for the Rain Caller can only be gotten one way That is to retrieve her wing from the little smelly bauld guy. The fairy dust you loot or buy is not the stuff for this Quest. I have seen the dust from looting the Princess and it is very different. Follow the instruction above and you will have the Rain Caller. There are no short cuts that I have seen.

Faeries ARE back
# Jul 04 2001 at 7:05 PM Rating: Good
I and a Druid friend/Guildmate were running around the now non-corrupt LFay zone the other night trying our hand at Thistle when in our chases of him got close enough to the camp to see that Gearheart AND the Princess were up. We finished up with Thistle and then went to talk to her. She would say only that we were welcome to stay in their village but not to nibble from the houses <and I do love to eat fresh mushrooms so>. I could get her to say nothing else to me <sigh>. I tried asking her about her wing, and still nothing. I have the toupee that needs repairing already, and I am wondering if I am lucky enough to get a friend or 20 to go to the KedgeKeep and give the golden haired meermaid a "trim", would I be able to finish the mane attraction with the gorilla hairs and turn them in to her, would she give me the dust? I have only killed 1 Faery with this Char and only because it aggrod me for some reason in GFay in the middle of the zone. Surely 1 death of a Feary will not make you apprehensive <which is what I am to the Princess>? If this is the case, what can I do to raise the faction? What can I do to work around it? Is there another race, class, or Deity that these folks like? From all the things I have read here there seems to be no way to raise Faery faction. Please say it isn't SO!

Back to the fact that on the Mithaniel-Marr server, LFay is now non-corrupted. Would be cool to think that I had a help in clearing the corruption. I did the Earring quest and got the nice earring. I also used all the procs on it to save my bacon. Wondering if that had anything to do with it? Nah, probably not. Oh well Mith Marr is free in LFay of the red tide. Now if some one could just rid the place of those bothersome Brownie scouts :) FOREVER!

I was woundering if anyone on the servers that have had the coruption lifted know if there was an event or a quest that lead to the lifting of the corruption? I have been excited to hear that it has ended on some of the other servers. However is Lesser Fay on the Nameless is still corrupt. :-( If anyone has any information of GM events or Quests that may have some effect on this please post. I have everything ready for the Rain Caller just need to give the Princes her wing back.

It appears that the corruption of Cazic has lifted from Lesser Fay. My wife and I are now here awaiting the spawn of the Princess Joleena.

While this is great news, and we are once again hopeful to complete the quest for the raincaller.. we wonder what has ocurred to cause the obolishment of the corruption?

Can you tell me what server your on? As for the Nameless Server Lesser Fay is still corrupted. I am woundering if there was a GM event that happend on your server that hasn't happend on mine yet. Or could it be that there is a quest that must be completed to remove the corruption, That would be a realy cool twist on the game IMHO.
If anyone has heard anything please post I would like to complete this quest, just cause I started it if for no other reason lol.

LFay on Quellious was corrupted and is no longer, so definitely this is something that is going away. i think there were servers that were never corrupted, but even the ones that were corrupted are reverting.

I thought that all the faeries were turned into those evil things with no skin. Those sprite things. My brother went to go see the faerie camp and got killed in wolf form by the red things with wings. I personaly thought since there is no more faeries the quest would be obsolete.
It says in the other quests that the faeries were turned into the evil ugly thingies. (please forgve me i forget what they are called). I have a ranger at lvl 20 and was hoping she would be able to get the bow. but i am not wandering in there unless i know that the princess exists.

Hi all,

I am quite obsessed with this bow, since this is my first bow quest =p. Anyway, I posted earlier regarding where abt is that fairy princess and tried everyway to track her down (such as getting my 55 friend mage to kill gearheart). Couple of nights ago, I was on the chat when the server went down for a short patch.
Anyway speaking to a GM, I got this msg from him/her. Verant is aware of this issue, and the 26/7 may be something I (we) will be looking forward to. Cheer up, 6 days to go, and hope everyone can get their hands on this bow :).

Just a question of the last post. You have 26/7 which would be july 26 a month away. But you also wrote 6 days to go. which indicated you meant 26/6. Can you clarify the date? By the way 6/26 is a patch day so I am thinking that might be the day we are looking forward to in your post.

I've ALSO been searching the woods, and haven't seen her since the event. She would almost always be at the fairy mushrooms, almost like a common spawn. Now there's nothing but a bunch of Homosexual imps. Good thing I didn't start this quest, or I'd be pretty dissapointed right about now! :)

RARE WANDERING SPAWN
# Jun 18 2001 at 6:34 PM Rating: Default
- I don't think Jolena is a rare wandering spawn anymore. I THOUGH she was, but that was from somebody who said "I killed her this morning" when I shouted if anyone could find her. No avail. I've been tracking the forests high and lo also to no avail. Which makes be believe a few things....

1) She no longer appears, and in her stead is Bloodboil.
2) She is KOS to all imps, thus by wandering around she will eventually wander into a dark elf camp / higher level undead sprite and be killed.
3) She is now a really RARE spawn. Since the only faerie left is the one that attacks all good races, maybe she's the new placeholder?

At any rate, I'm beginning to think this quest is now broken. This is a big dissapointment, because I just gave in my "Mane attraction." HAd I known the quest was broken I would have kept it (4 ac, +10 cha is pretty nice). Now all I have is a stupid faerie wing woth squat.

... And what's up with Gearheart anyway? If all the faeries have turned to imps, why's he just sitting there in their midst? I think that the Raincaller quest is now broken, and will forever BE broken. At the very least, do a /report or /feedback.

How to Solve
# Jun 15 2001 at 11:05 PM Rating: Decent
Like many of you I have been working on getting a Rain Caller for months. Stored the hair way and nagged my guild (a small one) into making a raid on Kedge Keep.

Well we did it last night and I got the hair. Got a friend to TP me back and forth to get everything, and went of to L Fay.

Blammm... undead sprites everywhere and not a sign of the Princess.

Needless to say I am disappointed. Rain Caller is a mini epic quest and one of the cap stone acheivements (getting most of the Ivy being the other) that I wanted to make before I started the epics.

Well the question is...does anyone know if it is solvable now? Or is the quest broken and should I just start the epics?

I am a 32 Ranger seeking the last component for my Raincaller Quest. After the Cazic Event in Lfay, princess is nowhere to be seen. I heard many rumours such as killing gearheart, which I got a 55 mage to perform this task. Performed for half a day, killing Bloodboil and Gearheart, princess never spawn!
Then regarding the wandering spawn, is this true or just another mere rumour? I been in Lfay for a long time, over 1 day, never seen her spawn anywhere, only see Lady N?? the escaped... anyone can help me how to find this Princess Joleena. I feel so disappointed that after putting so much work on this, and this quest is stuck here.
BTW fairy dust does not work! has to be a no drop bag of golden fairy dust
Princess Jolena
# Jun 13 2001 at 5:31 PM Rating: Default
I've beend oing the raincalled quest for over 4months now... Started by the box of tonics, traveling to and fro, then I went off and did other things... came back, exchanged the box, got the old wig, organised a group in cazic thule, got my gorilla hairs... Wandered and got better in fletching, then took on the kedge mermaid with a giant group... got the hair...

Then I spent a long time getting all those components for the trueshot bow, getting enough in fletching, and finally making the silly thing. On the 1st of June I did it, got the fairy wing, and logged...

... Logged on the 10th, and lo and behold, Jolena is now a RARE WANDERING spawn. This one person said he saw her and that she now wanders, but I have not seen her in a while and have been combing the forest, getting plastered by those awful brownies.......

... But what I think is really dissapointing is that a friend of mine, rather than spend all this time getting a raincaller, went off to velious and picked up a bow that's dropped off some enemy there that was something akin to +5 in all stats and made the raincaller look like a 'short bow'. He then went to kunark and got this other bow that shoots REALLY fast....

The lesson learned? Don't go for long-elaborate quests. They'll only dissapoint you in the end because eventually the item will be outdated... Instead, kill mobs, camp rare spawns, and buy the bloody things off the market.

yes, sit, camp, don't adventure at all...

You are one reason why this will never become a great Role-playing game. Why go through all this trouble?... it's called PRIDE...

What can you be proud of.... that you got to a high enough level to sit in one spot, and kill something so that you can sell whatever it had... or that you adventured and spent the time to obtain something that you can call your own!

I find this item to be a status symbol, and my lvl 10 Ranger will soon be making his way to Steamfont for some microservos...

Go play Doom if you want mindless action, not EQ

I got the fairy dust, but I have no idea if I got it before or after the great GM event everyone speaks of. Most GM events occur on the week-ends, which is peak play time for most, but not for me.

Anyway, many of you are asking "Will, how did you get it?" The answer is by killing the pixies and fairies around the tower in LF. "FLAME" - you say. But it is true. I was working on the Ivey leggings quest. I stumbled across a LVL 52 chanter and rogue that were willing to help me (that's another long story.) They killed those little creatures by the hundreds. LITTERALY HUNDREDS. They also took out those pesty brownies for me as well for the arrows. I looted everything. I got stacks of pixie dust. But one of them, I do not know which one, dropped Fairie Dust. I kept it, because at the time, I knew I needed it, but did not remember what for.

My wife and I have worked on getting her RainCaller for a long long time.. up until we could finally successfully get the hair from the mermaid. We were all excited, went to Lesser Fay to find that the Faerie princess Joleena no longer spawns.

In going back to Felwithe and speaking to Knoolin, he says ya can't get the ingredient anymore and mentions Unless you could "Strike a deal" with the fairy folk.

We don't know what this means, and have spoken to many many NPC's related to the quest to get an idea but it's disheartening to think that this unforseen situation in lesser fay has broken the raincaller quest.

Very sad for his wife Ranger.

I have also talked to Kinool, but as i recall he said the stuff about 'striking a deal' with Joleen b4 the event in lfay. I went through the dialog and i *think* it was the same as when i first talked to him about the quest ages ago.

I could be wrong of course, but since te dialog with him is still *maybe* unchanged, it makes me think that the Joleen thing is an oversight by Verant and not a deliberate nerf to the Raincaller. Not sure, just what i hope. Maybe they will patch the quest in the future

Any info on this quest since the event? There are many new and interesting quests in Lfay, but since the Princess is now Bloodboil it might make this quest kinda hard to complete. Im am one worried ranger : (

I was reading about the new quest in Lfay, after the Fironia Vie GM event there, and from the posts it appeared that the faeries turned into something else (horrors?). The changes haven't been made on Prexus yet and I was wondering how this changed the Raincaller quest, when the event finally happens? Any insight from the servers that have been changed?

Found this to be a decent quest. Kedge was the hardest and unatainable unless you have 40ish buddies helping. Be careful in the 3d world, it's easy to get turned around. You can't fight above shafts or you start to sink. I got seperated and died to the golden hair mermaid in the first 10 minutes, but had a cleric who rezed me right away. First loot. Took about an hour for the mermaid to re-pop and we got a second loot of hair. The rest of the quest was easy. No problem getting hair from gorillia, the back and forth between Akanon and Freeport was simple had a druid buddy helping me. Did all this before even talking to Princess Joleena. Got there her PH was up had a buddy kill her Ph as to not lose faction waited about 15 minutes and Pricess Joleena popped. Her PH by the way is next to the mechanical gnome. Nothing else came to the assistance of the PH. OH and it took me 20 lanterns to get treant heart. Turned in 3000gp, did not try the 300pp did not want to do it again.

My question is Can this Bow be recharged and How?

when you turn in the money does it have to be 3000GP's or will 300pp work?

Any mix of pp, gp, sp and cp that totals exactly 300pp (3000gp) will work. The cash portion of any quest turn in can be done with mixed coinage. Most of the quest NPCs ask for the money in gp, and once upon a time you maybe had to turn it in with gp, but that's not been necessary for a long time.
