Bjoskhua Blackfist's lips do not move, though your mind is filled with a voice. 'What is it you want, mortal? I have little patience for those who do not come here to study.' You say, 'i wish to study' Bjoskhua Blackfist looks you over and his voice invades your mind again. 'What is it you wish to study?' You say, 'who is clrakk?' Bjoskhua Blackfist says 'Clrakk is my youngest brother. He walks a path of shadows and deceit. If he were to battle, it would not be one without weapons or armor. I may use these as a bargaining chip some day. I do not think my family has any more need of these old chest straps. You say, 'what chest straps?' Bjoskhua Blackfist says 'The chest straps are simply a status symbol to some gladiators and warriors. They are passed down from generation to generation. When a warrior enters one of these contests of the fist, they wear the chest straps of their family. My family was awarded a set of the enchanted chest straps ages ago. None of my brothers save Clrakk would even consider entering the contest. You say, 'what contests of the fist?' Bjoskhua Blackfist says 'Ages ago there was a race of fish men named the Kedge. Prexus spread them throughout the waters of the world and they were prosperous. Rumors abound that even near the waters of velious they had great cities. All at once they seemed to be wiped from the face of Norrath. One of the travelers I recently spoke to informed me that a single Kedge may still live in the lands of Faydwer. As grotesque as it sounds, the backbone of a Kedge may be used to create indestructible scroll cases. Bring me the backbone of this fishman, if he exists, and you will find yourself a richer person.' Bring him back the backbone of Phinigel Autropos from Kedge (yes, the backbone also used in the bard epic): Bjoskhua Blackfist says 'Excellent, I guess his entire race is now wiped from Norrath. This will indeed make a wonderful scroll case. I am a giant of my word. Take your prized item and be gone, you greedy little beast!' I've heard that the reanimated hand in Unrest drops books at random. Any idea what these books are or what they are about? I read somewhere on this site that it dropped a book called the "Book of Ages", but I've yet to see this verified or see what the book itself is about.

The book the hand drops is "End of an Age", and tells you about spell research. Doubt this is the book he wants.

when velious first came out, a friend and i were ******** around, and got this guy to give us some book... ( i do not, however, remember the keyword) the book he gave us said something like "give this to the monk leader in cabilis, discipline awaits"

Has anyone tried the Book of Languages, or whatever it's called? You know, that book you can buy from the merchant in East Commons near the West Commons zone area.
Seems to me that this would be a "book about the races of the rest of the world."

picked that book up in East comons, its mostly about a history of ancient times. dragons, giants, gods and such, worth a try tho. will let ya know

I have recently scoured Thurgadin for new and unusual stuff to buy. Some of the merchants there have books for sale that seem to be constant items they carry. (I could be wrong about this, but the item did not disappear from the purchase window after I bought one. So he had at least two.) The particular merchant I recall is in the carpentry shop and sells arrow supplies. There were also other merchants with books but I don't recall their exact locations. Additionally there is a library in Thurgadin with several NPCs. Perhaps you could talk to them about books?

Sorry guys. Ill tell you where it drops. It drops from the Mountain Giant ancient in Dreadlands. Its the same Monacle that warriors need for theyre FA quest. Read the quest he says a monacle that would fit him.. Him being a giant, so it stands to reason a monacle dropped from one giant would fit another giant.

Yea, there goes Verant not thinking again... Let's just give monks a reason to not let warriors get one of the items they need for their EPIC quest.

As a human monk I am KOS to the giants here. We raided Kael and a set of Frozen chest straps dropped. Not a very good back item per se. Has AC 1 and some minor stat buffs. Is this the chest straps in this quest?

so its conceivable that the reward for this quest is a not so good item that is used in a further quest....

Anyone know the place or the lvl to start this quest? It sounds like something I'd like to try but I'm only a lowly lvl 22 monk and I definatly don't have a deathwish....any info on where to start this quest or what lvl is recomended would be helpfull

Bahz, you're going to need to work your faction with Kael to do this one. Killing Coldain dwarfs is a start. Or at least killing a few Coldain Tracking wolves to get your faction with the giants to apprehensive will alow you to get into the area you need. L22 is probobly way too low to start this one, the mob that has the Giants Monacle is the (Forest?) Giant Patriarch. L40+ Unless you can find one for sale, tuff find since warriors need the monacle for their epic quest. As for the book? who knows, I've been looking everywhere, trying other quest books, books i find at vendors, etc....

Bought and read thru all the cabilis books i could find, didnt seem to pertain to this quest, brought em all to the giant and turned them in. no reaction at all on any of them. Thinking maybe Skyshrine or Dragon necropolis will shed some light on the book needed. headed there later this week to see.

any idea where we start looking? The tower library in iceclad might be one spot, going to head there tonight and see if any books drop.

Well, killed a buncha ghosts in the library, bout 3 hrs worth, no book. got the sylabus and homework tho, decent caster stuff. heading up to 7th floor with a group to see if the bosslady drops any book type things. will let ya know

Has anyone checked the library in Erudin? Of all the places they would stick a new book to buy in, this is probably it.

I believe that the Mountain Giant Patriarch drops a "giant monacle"

I was killing Bandits at the camp near the Druid Ring in EK. One of them dropped "a monacle" The icon looked like a silver piece. It was not NO DROP, but still seemed fairly quest related. Just my 2 cents.

Giant Patriarch has a rare drop of a Gaints Monacle. Patriarch spawn in the fixed spawn spots of gaints in DL. Never as a wanderer. Always at one of the buildings. Kill enough giants Patriarch spawns. Kill enough Patriarch Monacle drops.

Actually, the roamer spawns near the fort can spawn the Patriarch.
I spent a couple days here killing giants in the fort with my warrior, got several Pats to spawn, but no monocle. One of the times I hit track, I had a Patriarch, but it wasnt one of the fort spawns. So I tracked it, and it ended up being a roamer, one of the ones that roams very close to fort. He also happened to be the one that finally dropped the monocle.

Haven't all the quests completed so far been done entirely in SoV? If so, it's unlikely that a EQ/RoK drop is needed for one of the SoV quests.

this has to be the giant monacle in dreads, he says"something rare and exotic from lands far from here, so its not a velious drop item

If you read the quest text you'll find he is looking for foreign items.

The Tunarean Court quest to collect Seeds requires Foraging outside Velious......the Geonid Velium Focus Quest requires items that drop in Paw......I have seen several quests that require you to get items that drop outside the expansion, so go look.....but what about the book he asks for?
