If doing the Bard 1.0,Baldric Slezaf will NOT take the backbone if it has a charge. You will have to use the charge for him to take it.

Anyone know how fast he pops?

Well today marked my 37th kill of Phinigel Autropos and.... wow , no spine yet ,i've seen 3 wiz staves and 2 mage staves drop , i'll tell you one thing.. the drop rate on epic pieces is about 20% for him to drop any at all , his drop rate for staves are about 10% each.. and spine seems to be about 20% , though for me its proven to be 0%...

i cant get this to drop for my bard, killed phinny 5 times now, no luck

After 19 Kills within 30 days, Phinny was fainally kind enough to dropp the Kedge spine for me. Normal Drops were the fusible ore ( almost always), either a wand of mana tapping, the shammy rod, or the rogue trident. He seems to drop epic pieces about 50% of the time, however i have seen as many as 3 drop at once (today he dropped to mage staffs, and kedge spine).
He is on a steady 12 hour timer, however i have seen him pop as much as 1 hour early (without server reset/crash). Guardians are on same timer, and swirlspines pop every twenty mins.
Hardest part about phinny is finding him up, and having people available to help.
You need 3 things to fight him (based on my 19 kills), good dps, good resists, and a smart healer.
Phinny when singled, is a straight caster with lots of mana. Only way he will run oom is if you accidently pull the swirlspines or guardians.
He casts 3 spells every tick, normally 2 nukes and a dispell (directed at tank, 4 slot dispell). If your FR and MR are above 150, the nukes won't land often.
As for DPS, any type will work as long as you have some means of keeping him from going after your casters. basically any type of melee, whether it be pet, or tank. In a pinch i have acted as cannon fodder (50 bard at the time with 1500 hp unbuffed 2900 with virtue). your healer treats you as though you are half health the entire time and heals for what you will be. Longest fight has lasted 3 mins, and that was with 4 people. On average i would go in with 1 65 (to pull), myself, a healer or 65 pally, and some other form of dps (caster/monk/etc).
Over all he is a fun fight, and i wish he spawned more often. If you are hunting for your epic though, be prepared to spend a monh hunting.. I know a mage who did 30 kills before finally getting the drop.
