51+ Ranger soloable
# Sep 10 2004 at 8:23 PM Rating: Excellent
Ok, here's how you solo these baddies as a 51+ ranger. You need to be lvl 51 so you have your 10 min "Ensnare" spell. Decent gear is also needed if you're not much higher than 51 (you'll want to get around 200 magic resist buffed, otherwise they might land a slow on you which hurts; I have alternate resist gear for situations like these).

1. Recon mission: get to EK and find Corruptor spawn point at -1400, -975. Place a label on your map because you'll want to get here ASAP after turn in. The two reavers spawn a bit to the East, within sight.

Also make sure Tarbul Earthstrider is up, if he's not then track and kill "a rogue lion" and maybe hill giants until he spawns.

2. Head to PoK and buff up. Get Virtue first, then HoS if you find a shammy, and then find a 60+ chanter and ask for: KEI, magic resist, haste (only HoS is optional, all others required unless you're high lvl).

3. Hurry back to EK, make sure nobody is interfering, and make sure Tarbul is still up and nobody's about to kill him. Do your turn-in and after the fourth one rush toward the Corruptor/Reaver spawn and wait just a lil south of it, within casting range.

4. When the 3 spawn there will be a zone-wide message. First snare all 3 FAST (reavers first), then try to root them if you can. They all summon a skelly pet and send pets on you. Once skellies start bashing on you it'll be hard to cast anything, so make sure the DEs are all snared before that. Don't try to cast anything on the pets, just melee them as fast as possible while staying out of corruptor/reaver range. Get off the hill if you want, it'll be easier.

You'll probably be harm touched a few times, at lvl 51+ and with virtue you should be able to take that. Heal up while kiting as mana allows.

5. Once pets are down, the Corruptor is next. Keep the two reavers rooted and bow/dot kite the Corruptor (he drops the item you need). You should have a good bow and lotsa good magical arrows. Loot up, then turn to the two reavers.

6. You could probably kite the reavers as well, but it'll take forever. It's more fun to let Tarbul do some work for you as he does take offense to Innoruuk broodlings invading his land. So re-snare the reavers and CAREFULLY pull them past Tarbul. You really want to make sure Tarbul doesn't see and aggro you first, cause you can't get him back on reavers (unless you zone in/out, etc). Because of all that snaring, the reavers will still come after you even with Tarbul on their butt, so just root the one being hit, and he'll fight Tarbul back. Keep the other one away till first one's dead, if both reavers hit Tarbul together they'll kill him. One on one, Tarbul will be around 40% when the reaver is dead, then he'll regen fast. So pull other reaver to Tarbul and once he's dead too you can kill Tarbul as thank you =P

Good luck!

P.S. Not sure if this is gonna work for a druid, your main problem will be killing off the 3 skelly pets in the beginning. You got 3 dark elves to keep snared/rooted and 3 skellies bashing up on you and interrupting casts... your call.

If you get slowed/snared/feared/etc you need to either get better magic resist gear or gain a few more levels. Definitely buy max resist with tribute points and activate it before battle.

You really don't want Tarbul to engage you or the Corruptor, so be careful in the beginning.

And finally, don't think you can kill the Corruptor for the loot while letting the reavers go kill Athlete. I tried this and the Corruptor will despawn when Athlete is dead, and you most likely won't be able to kill him fast enough. But if you (or friend) snare/root the reavers first then you can kill Corruptor, loot up, leave the zone and come back the next day to turn it to a new Athlete.

Technique?!?!
# Jul 04 2004 at 8:02 PM Rating: Decent
If Arch Druid Athele is killed by the reavers, does the Dark elf Corruptor Despawn or not? And also, would this work? Warrior, Necro, Cleric kill Daek elf Corruptor while the druid kites the 2 revers with SNARE/DOT technique, once the Corruptor is dead, warrior would snipe 1 reaver of the druid then kill, snipe other, then kill. Sounds like it would work, i just have no clue how quickly snare would pop and how fast and hard they hit. I am a lvl 61 druid. Any input is appreciated!!!

You could probably kite these 3 mobs alone within about 4 mins.

Dated info

This information is eather Dated...or Incorrect !!

Twice now i have taken a small party to the coords shown here for killing the DE Corrupter . co-ord bing the top of the hill at Neg 1500, neg 1000.

Both times i constantley hit track after gating back to said Co-odinance ... no sign of the corrupter or the DE Reavers ... the second time i see an /ooc for help killing the reavers ...

so they DONT spawn where this site is saying they do ..... BE WARNED !!!! its a pain camping Faeline ...but 3 times just get my back up
He dispawned
# May 02 2004 at 4:29 PM Rating: Default
I rushed up to him and almost killed him easily and both reapers where up when i was about to kill him and had only lost like 19% hp and killed his pet because of resist buffs he couldn't harm touch me and i was soloing the ***. It is realy stupid that he dispawned
Easy Stuff
# Apr 28 2004 at 11:16 AM Rating: Decent
Just killed him last night. With me=58 Dru and my friend=53 Rng.

The spawn did not happen right after you do the last turn in. I was like 3-5 min for the coruptr and the reavers to spawn.

They are easly snared and rooted. And from that you can tell they where easly killable.

Experience
# Apr 27 2004 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
Killed him today with a group thrown together by a 53DRU in POK. Level range was 53-65. Enchanters mesmerised the reavers, and I (55BRD) fear-kited the Corruptor while the other Enchanter and the Druid nuked it. He hit for 120+ several times.
Suggestion
# Mar 30 2004 at 11:58 PM Rating: Decent
-Tried to solo this part with my 65 druid and died; all 3 were light blue...I got aggro from all 3 so they wouldn't kill guys by the shore...Once their pets got aggro it was tough
-Grabbed a 65 Pally and 65 Warrior ported in and took these guys out...
Despawn in battle
# Feb 19 2004 at 5:54 PM Rating: Decent
I too got caught in the de-spawning of the corruptor just the second the killing blow was hitting. Tis is an unacceptable occurrence in my book, causing me to have to restart the first part just because they decided to make the parts of the epic no longer enjoyable.

Despawn
# Jan 05 2004 at 4:49 PM Rating: Good
After all that you have to do to get to this point in the epic, it stinks that the Corruptor despawns if you do not kill him fast enough or if the Reavers die first. It happened to me.

My solution....

65 Warrior and 62 Wiz attack the Corruptor
58 Shaman keeps 1 Reaver occupied
47 Druid (me, starting early) keeps the other Reaver occupied.

The firepower mowed down the corruptor, and the Warrior had plenty of hp to kill the reavers while I looted the corruptor for the tome. Yes, I am sure all of them can be soloed by a higher level druid, but when if/when you start early, bringing these kinds of friends may help.
Incorrect walkthrough

Someone needs to update the walkthrough on eqrangers... they have the corruptor listed as a WARRIOR. no warrior i've ever seen can harm Touch and summon a skeleton pet. :P

Soloed with my 59 druid...just ran up to spawn point the 3 spawn but reavers were far away from corrupted...of course they all started to cast their gimp pets..which i didnt let happen.

Rooted corrupter first, he HTed me then for 500..no biggie.

Snared then blasted away with stuns, winds, and wildfire, re rooting when needed...he pretty much tryed to cast weak stuff on me the whole time cause he was rooted..heh

Well, I got to be one of the unlucky ones, who this didn't work for. My 54 druid brought a 61 Sk and 65 Ranger along, so plenty of firepower.

However, the reavers aggroed them forst, so I snared the Corruptor, and started kiting him. Once one of the reavers was down, the Sk jumped on Corruptor. AS SOON AS THE SECOND REAVER DIED, CORRUPTOR DESPAWNED.

They did not reach the druids, had not been up very long, and the corruptor was engaged in a fight when he despawned.

Best I can guess is ou have a real short time to take him down (1-2 minutes?) then they despawn.

Back to square one. That stupid druid in GFay is once again eluding me. At least I'll have the 3 kelethin factions orcs give Maxxed soon /sigh.

I honestly think that this kind of unfixed bug is the worst aspect of EQ gameplay. What roleplay reason is there for the corruptor to despawn midfight? It just takes a fairly easy, mindnumbing part of the epic, and makes it even worse.

Anyway, as far as advice, I'd just pigpile the corruptor, and root the others.

Man, exact same thing happened to me... Absolute BS that he despawns mid-fight! Not on ly do verant give rangers a pair of epic swords instead of a bow... but they ***** up something as simple as a single mob fight?

Update:

redid the start, respawned corruptor, this time with plenty of firepower, took corruptor down in about 20 sec, then killed the reavers and did turn in. Also did a round for a ranger, after respawn of the trigger druid.
Ranger Epic
# Sep 26 2003 at 12:51 AM Rating: Decent
We did this earlier today on Xev. Ranger in our guild did the turnin and the corruptor and his 2 sk's with pets spawned. We were expecting the 2sk's to go for the dr00ds but instead they aggro'd our warrior. we made short work of the corruptor , the sk's took a little longer with their pets. we had a full group of 6, 4 mid to low 50's and 2 high 40's in our party. we wh00ped up on em in the end, but i recommend having a cleric around lvl 48-52 at least in your party with virtue and c5 on. Me being the cleric (lvl 48) i got major aggro from the sk's for my heals, would've been a goner if it wasn't for virtue, divine aura, and divine barrier, and groupies would have been dead without c5. might have done better with a little more preperation but it was a spur of the moment type thing. all in all, make sure you have at least 2 good tanks, a slower, a rooter and a good healer if you want to do this around lvl 50.
Easy!

This mob is so easy in the PoP era. A Lvl 65 Ranger soloed him and didn't even lose health, while a 65 Shaman's pet tanked a reaver while me and the Shaman nuked hard against one. A pair of 65 Rogues took the other reaver. Easy fight, I think it was a little overkill though =)

the two reavers cant be allowed to reach the druids or your toast as far as getting your epic piece....it's called starting from scratch.

only thing i've seen from the DEC or the reavers is that i got feared by one of the reavers....wound up running toward town like a little girl...hehehe

ive heard of fewer doing it than this but......i've been in a group of five taking the dec and the reavers down....druid kited the reavers till the DEC was done then we disposed of the reavers...dont recall levels of the other 4 as i was there farming spider silks and noticed them on the hill and offered my assistance.

i did this last night with my brother im a 51 rangerhes a 44 druid i asked if anyone in my guild wanted to come along and a 53 druid who had done it a few time before said he'd help me out. my bro got a 62 BL guildie to help to. which help alot considering i would have been the only tank. i did the turn ins and the 53 druid went ld lol but got back before spawns i would say its abotu1 to 2 min till spawns gave me enough time to get back to the hill. a tip have the group alrdy at thte hill and just before u do the last turn in track a memember so u can run right there if u r a ranger druids can just gate back if they r bound there of course. but anyways corruptor spawned me and BL dropped him fast and i looted. the 2 druids rooted reavers and doted them BL took 1 and sent pet on other i helped pet. by the way reavers hit hard and fast i went from 75% to about 27% in about 10-15sec so if u are a ranger have a healer and another melee with u to help take out reavers. battle took about 3 min then i went to do turnin. now for a jade reaver :/

small change to all post the dark elf reaves MUST NOT reach the druids if they kill them then the corrupter will despawn regarles of how much damage you have done to him if hes not dead he will despawn with the reaves>>>>> have seen this twice now .. on Vazealle server would think it would be the same on all servers.

De spawn
# Apr 28 2003 at 10:27 AM Rating: Excellent
on 2 occasions now, the DEC despawned for no apparent reason. One time was several months ago at L47 and I dont remember the specifics but I do remember that my friend (the druid that was turning in the piece) was mezzed. Second time (last night) I was kiting the reavers with druid and beating the hell out of the corruptor. First time was for a ranger guy I met on the hill and it went textbook. 2nd time was for me and the DEC poofed at about 40% health. Only difference was I was kiting the reavers pretty far away so since I was the turn in, there may be an agro range for the quest performer to the corruptor.

One thing for sure is that I had both reavers agro well away from the druids, and in neither case was there a zone shout from the reaver about completing their task (which I have also seen before hehe).

Any insight would be appriciated as I'm camping Faelin again now :(.

=========
EDIT May 10
=========
Did it again with more help. had a cleric/shm root and take care of reavers while my 2 toons and a ranger did the corruptor. I was sure, as the turn-in person to snare the corruptor to ensure I had agro. Didn't have despawn problem.

This doesn't garentee that the problem is solved. Cadellin's ranger friend most certainly was involved in the melee so probably did have agro. could be a time limit thing - must take corruptor down in 150sec or he poofs. . . not sure. Hope you get your problem solved Cadellin.

I would love the answer to this as well. I was helping a ranger friend tonight and the Corrupted vanished on us at 50%. This is the second time it has happened to him as well - very disheartening. He has petitioned and sent off an email to the Quellious Server GM so hopefully there may be an answer ..next week...next year...

This guy was so much cream puff that it wasn't even funny. If you are after this guy for your epic and no other druids are present that need to do this, solo this guy & sacrifice Athele & her troop. It is so much easier & faster to do it this way than try & get a group together to handle all 3 mobs and educate everyone else on what they need to do.

Most of the following has been posted before but these things tend to get burried by crap posts so here it is again:

Step one:(Thanks Yakomaster) Bind on hill top near Neg 1500, Neg 1000. You will notice two trees close together, this is where the DEs spawn. Get out of agro range and bind in view of trees.

Step two: Buff self - Magic/Poison/Disease/Fire, Best Skin or Ageo, Regrowth, Wolf form.

Step three: Turn-ins, Athele first, track Sionae to the north, next head west & south along shore will eventually be able to track Nuien, next head back East for Teola she is past barb fishing village behind a tree on cliff side.

Step Four: Gate & Wait. I got nervous when I did this because the Reavers & Corruptor were not there when I Gated, I thought I had missed them and started wandering around tracking. After about 2 min there was a shout from the Reavers & Corruptor so i gated back again. Be Patient they WILL spawn. Apparently they wait for the druids to gather before spawning (gives our ranger friends time to hoof it back).

Step Five: Target Corruptor, Reavers will cast, move, cast then run. Let reavers cast once then move off to the north a bit so you don't pull corruptor across their path. You should be casting ensnare as they finish second cast & start running for Druids.

Step Six: Time is of the essence!!!!!!!!!!! I did this twice cause I tried the root DoT thing. Reavers kill Druids & despawn corruptor before Winged Death finishes. Second time here's how it went. Cast Ensnare/Scoriae/Move/Scoriae/Move > Repeat. Took total of 6 or 7 Scoriaes.

Step Seven: LOOT FAST!
DONE. :) GRATZ you have a flesh bound tome.

You really need to be 54 or higher to do this solo as the lower lvl spells will not kill the Corruptor fast enough. Starfire has close to same damage as Scoriae but takes twice as long to cast. Means you have to run farther away, DE may actually hit you. I myself was never hit by DE, he did land one 187 pt nuke, and 3 DoTs but finished with 80% health. (Had Virtue from friendly Cleric)

Hope this helps, Yakomaster's write up gave me the info to do this easily, thought I would elaborate on time and give directions to turn in mobs as I could not track the last two from previous NPCs. wasted a bit o time on Nuien.

Ooops Sig is old, Obviously 54 now.

We killed this guy easily in a full group of low 50s with a chanter and decent DPS. Chanter mezzed the Reavers, we beat down the Corrupter as fast as possible (less than a minute, as even my short duration, high DPS DoTs didn't run to completion), then moved on to the Reavers. Provided you have some kind of crowd control so you're not trying to fight all three at once, you shouldn't have any problem even with a less powerful group.

Of course I'm now apprehensive to the Warrior guild in Neriak, but a quick trip to Crushbone fishing and killing slaves should fix that.

My guild did this fight 5 times one night (lots of druids and rangers). Four times it was a piece of cake, but we messed up a bit on the fifth battle. I wound up taking much of the agro and was lookin like I was gonna die. Luckily, I had Spirit of Eagle on, so when I backed away from the fight (and levitated off the mountain) one of the reavers followed me along the ground. The hill is steep enough that he couldnt hit me. So, I was safe (woot!) and I wound up taking him out of the fight long enough to allow the others to kill his compatriots, then finish him off. Plus, I could cast my little ranger nukes and DoTs just for spite while I was a hundred feet above him. So... lev or SoE is a nice insurance policy. Certainly saved my life and probably others' as well.
Soloing the DE Corrupter
# Jan 27 2003 at 5:43 AM Rating: Decent
I was doing a dry run with Althele and her druid NPC friends to get the feel of this before trying to find a group to help me. Before giving the item to the last druid I /shouted to all that the DE Corrupter and DE Reavers will be out and about. I needed to know how long there was before the DE Reavers killed the NPC druids and despawned. I am a level 55 druid with about 1800 HPS. I also was KEI'ed. I stood where the creases in the mountain joined (about -1544, -965). I bound myself there first(I read to do that someplace). After giving the last NPC druid the required item, I gated back to that spot. I faced east. Two trees, one on each side of the crease, were a short distance away. The two DE Reavers spawned to the left and right of the tree on the right side of the crease. The DE Corrupter walk past my front from the left to the right, stopped and began buffing itself. I was far enough from the DE Reavers to not have them agro me. As the DE Corrupter stood there, I could not resist hitting him with a ensnare followed by a scoriae, my most powerful nuke. I got another scoriae off befor he started walking my way. He hit me once and stopped walking. I backed away a distance and he stood still long enough for me to get another scoriae off. When he got to me again, he hit and I freaked out and just kept trying to get another nuke off. No luck, each attempt was interupted. After regaining my senses, I backed up a distance once again. Again, the DE Corrupter stood still long enough for me to get another nuke off. I just kept doing this until he died, and had time to loot the corpse before the thing depopped. Actually, it was very easy to do this and I would have had a lot more than the one bulb of HPS I had left I hadn't lost it and kept trying to nuke him while be beat the crap out of me. So, if you do not have some friends with you, but you do have a lot of HPS and don't mind the Reavers killing the NPC druids, go for it. But /shout that the DE Corupter and DE Reavers are about to spawn so no other players in the area get caught up in this and die. Good luck.
