I found this mob due north of the Trakanon zone line, along and slightly east of the broken north-south path/road. I also found a few in the north west corner of the zone, but that was pretty rare.
As a hot zone task mob, I find it to be highly undesirable, especially for a non tracker. They are not that common, and not set in any areas. Undead gorillas would be a better choice, as they have a fairly large level range, so I believe many levels could benefit from them instead.
Just my thoughts...

i agree with you, this is a worthless hotzone task, if you can get the next higher level one when this is offered, take it. If you take this one at lvl 41, you will waste a ton of time finding them if you do not have a tracker, you could get more XP killing anything in the lvl 45 zone.

Completely agree with Bofor and kasandra but am not as dead set against it as they were. Their roaming range is quite large and it was a pain for my warrior to find them the first time but after doing this hotzone task for the past three days I have narrowed my search area in the GENERAL VICINITY of -1000, -700 in EJ.
As they also stated if you can do a the 45 hotzone go for it. However, for me this cycle it's either kill them or try and cut through Griegs End to get to Scarlet Jungle, which is the level 45 hotzone right now. No thank you, I'll hunt these frustrating tigers and be grateful for the xp.

Anyways, back to the tiger. I haven't seen Tiger Skins dropped (though it's said to be rare) but they do drop tons of Ruined Cat Pelts. Almost 80% of them will drop one.
Also, these cats hit for the most I've seen in zone. They bash and kick! I'm a measly level 40 wizard with 700 HP and this guy gave me a 43, 89, 65 swipe. I try to root but he hits me twice more for 89 and 83 and stuns me. While stunned (and group attempts to taunt him) he hits me again for 89. This ******* is consistent! I am very close to death so I zone into CoM.
These guys are very tough, my nukes blast for 400 (with Focusing Items mind you) and it only takes away roughly 20% health. These are the dark blue cons btw. So I am guessing these bad boys have near 2000 HP.

*EDIT*-I thought I should also comment on the tiger's insane ability to break root spells. I hunt HG in Rathe daily and they are held down much longer than these tigers. I can't even nuke the tiger yet and the root is already broken! Might need to use Chain stun.

Seems that the Druid in this picture did what I did when I first spotted one of these. Always did want a tiger for a pet someday, looked in my spell book for Allure of the Wild and he was saying 'guarding you master'. Great pets, kept em charmed as long as I was in the zone.
