Confirmed it still works, also helps to have a tracker on hand if you are specifically trying to spawn these; they will spawn all over the zone instead of just at the camp. Clearing both Dervish 1 and 2 as well as all spawns in the area worked really well for me.
As the previous poster stated, the best spot seems to be South Ro, at Dervish Camp 2 - loc is pos3000, neg1000 incase you don't know the area or have maps loaded.
I cleared everything in sight, and would guess I saw 1 cistern asp every 20 minutes or so. I didn't get my first poison sac until my 6th kill, got my 2nd 2 kills later. So the drop rate doesn't seem to be too bad, it's the spawn rate that is horrible. Just keep everything dead in the area and plan to be there for a few hours.
What a freaking nightmare! Well, after killing the first two today and not getting the venom sac, I decided to camp the area that the only 2 cisterns in the entire zone spawn. Four hours later not one had spawned anywhere. So, I left and came back on two different occasions during the day and still nothing. So, I figured it was one of SoE's presents to the Rogue for daring to do the Trophy.
Here's what I decided to do. Go to the Orc #2 Camp in the far midwest area of the map. If you go through the opening in the center of the map...you went to far. There you will see 3 Cutthroats standing under some tents. With numerous mobs pathing all around. Kill everything in sight. This will eventually spawn the cistern asp as well as just "an asp" the latter of the two never drop the ASP Poison Sac for me....only the cistern asp. Be patient, it will work...you just have to keep killing everything in sight until you get the mob you want.
Here the kicker, you have to keep moving in order to see it spawn and start pathing away. It is a very small and fast snake and paths away from the tent area a good rate of speed. A tracker would be of great benefit in this zone because if you happen to miss it, the tracker will find it and you can run after it.
Hope this helps those just doing the beginner's trophy for Toxicology 101.

While hunting crocs and caimans in Oasis, I usually jump on these if I can spare the mana. The gators give such horrible loot, while the asps usually give some poison sacs or giant fangs selling in the range of 2 to 4 gold.

I wrote down everything they dropped while waiting for some sand of ro. I can guarentee they at least drop: Snake Venom Sac (yes in addition to the asp ones) Giant Snake Fang Asp Poison Sac
The poison that this asp drops is Asp Poison as opposed to regular snake poison. To us rogues there is a difference. This is the poison to use for the Asp Poison receipe.
Hope that helps Keadias Swifblade lvl 27 Rogue Xegony
The poison that they give out is simply 'Poison'...not 'Weak Poison' or your lil' 'Bixie Poison', jes 'Poison. It takes 3 cure poison I believe...although I'm 18, I sometimes kill them if I've got nothing to do. Since the GSFs are good money to sell to vendors, and with my Cat Eye Necklace and Crude Stein, I can get like 486cp man!
