I just hit 24 over the weekend. My lvl 24 shaman had about 150 wis(189 now :) ). I buff myself with just SOW and reg and take these things on. I have killed about 20, blue to reds!!! with 10-20% mana left. They rarly Resistance my new 24 spell Envenomed Breath and Frost Strike.
I run up to one. Hit them with Envenomed Breath, run a away(they fly slow vs your SOW) and then stop and fire Affliction. There is about 300+ damage to be done there. Well after the second DOT. Run away some more, get some room at hit them with Frost Strike(130 damage). ABout this time, Envenomed Breath has just finsh. And the griffenne has about half hp. Hit them again with Envenomed Breath( they seem to Resistance more this time). Run away some more and hit them one/two more times with Frost Strike. Now he has about 1 bubble of HP and will stop fly after you and start flying away. Envenomed Breath will finsh him off, but attack him fast before he gets by a other griffenne.
You can root, but I find root to suck with whites, yellows and reds. They break to fast. Why waste mana. When you can out run them, get some room and hit them. And run again.
This most of the time is safe. There is not alot Griffenne's flying arould here. NK has alot of room to run. Griffawns at 24 are mosly green to me, and they have not join a fight yet. Warnings: 1. griffons, silver griffon and grimfeather, HGs. They are 35+ and will hurt you bad if your fighting a giffenne. 2. Other players: Where not a druid, we dont have snare. So when we are running and have a griffenne following us. People think we need help, and will pull it away from us and run them to the guards. Which is bad, because all your mana has just gone to waste.
Plus use the guards. must the time there up if no one ran a HG or griffon to them. They will easy take them out for you. I have found griffenns to give good exp. half blue for blues. Yellows about 3/4 blue. And reds all most a full blue in exp. And some will drop 3+ pp. Not bad vs AVIAKs in SK. Who run about SOW speed and break root to fast and you have to get face to face with them. And VS. CENTAURs who are about SOW speed and will hit your when running and if there rooted, can still hit you with arrows to break your spells when casting.
Give them a try, there fun to kill. Its funny seeing a lvl24 shaman take reds down, when a tweak out meele fighter in his low 30s soloing them and taking tons of damage
Just wanted to know. Is it bad for a Druid to be killing these guys, will it ruin your faction with the other animals. Oh, and a level 21 Duid can easily kill these things if they are yellow. I did tonight and many times after that.
Hmmm, been hunting Griffennes for 3 days now. Killed A LOT of them - no charm. Killed every mob with "Griff" in its name - just to make sure... Still no charm. Griffenne Charms should be considered as VERY RARE drop...
About Grifenne not appearing. In general if your seriously hunting something kill everything that is _not_ it. There are lots of place keepers in this game. The more stuff that dies the more likely the creature you are looking for will randomly appear
Finally looted a Griffene Charm off my 16th kill. It took 7 hrs 8 mins to get it... just to let people know not to expect quick kills all the time <hehe>
At level 30, a Ranger should be able to solo these. Use your panic animal spell and they will run. Hack away at them while they are running. When the panic animal runs out, back off and recast it. I am a 31 ranger and lose minimal health and use minimal mana when soloing them. The only problem is that you will run into a few that resist panic animal. I can still kill them, but they run down both my health and my mana. If you stay near the guard tower, you can run for cover if you have problems.

Question: For the bracer quest...one must have 2 bracelets and 2 charms in order to get 2 bracers? Or does Cryssia give you 2 bracers for 1 bracelet, 1 charm and 1 stone? Please advise.
While you guys are killing all these griffenes and getting all the items you don't need... I can't even find any period. I have been to NK many nights now and hunted for 1-2 hours each and maybe have seen 2 tops. I see every other winged beast other than the griffene. Heck, I've seen GrimFeather more now. Question is, do I need to kill all the griffawns I see in hopes that a griffene will spawn next or just continue to run around the zone aimlessly hoping to chance upon once since tracking really doesn't work that well. You can track a creature on the opposite side of the zone but not see something directly behind or in front of you. :/
Just got the Griffene charm from a Rabid Griffene that I had to kite for a few minutes when i couldn't quite melee it down. I'm a 32 song bard, anyway it was the 2nd Griffene I killed, 3rd had the downfeather and an opal. Good xp and loot so I'm going to hunt them the next couple of hours to level. Hope that helped.
I have been seeking the downfeather for some time now. After killing 7 griffene's I have come across the charm twice and so far no downfeather. Seems the downfeather is a bit more rare than the charm today.
Hunted them with my mage lvl24 with earth pet since i havn't researched the others ;) Mostly they conned dark blue or white. In this cases they are rather easy. On yellow conns i had to heal pet twice every time. Advice: Pull them with the malise spell and check pet health often. These mobs hit your per HARD... On the red conns i got assisted by a lvl21 druid, who btw dinged after a couple of reds.
