Neffiken, Lord of Kelek`Vor

Raid Encounter
Screenshot

Uploaded July 24th, 2007

There are six giants outside the fort, a ways to the north, need to be killed to make Neffiken targettable.

Approximately 10 small ents spawn in the fort when he first takes damage. They are splittable.

Whomever tanks Neffiken will be subject to an unresistable mana drain.

Don't see the Esoteric Medallion on his loot table above. He dropped 3 of these. Unsure of which version it is though but I assume the same as the other named that drop it in this area.

So...I used to be a hardcore raider up through SoD and UF, then I got married and retired :) A few months ago I un-retired as a casual player. I created my own 6-box crew that I'm using to do old progression content and explore areas that I haven't seen before. The game is huge and I had missed a lot of it by raiding constantly.

Anyway, I'm working on my paladin's 1.5 epic and I decided to do the fights as close to the original level cap as I could (albeit with a huge boost from defiant gear). I've found that a lot of the posts on the epic quests are either really old, talking about doing the fights with a raid, or relatively recent, talking about people in their 80+s soloing the mobs.

So I took this fight on at level 66 with a boxed paladin (tank), druid (healer), shammy (backup healer, etc), bard (puller), ranger and mage (dps). All toons except the ranger had maxed defensive and offensive AAs for their level.

Even with defiant gear it was a tough fight. I got him to 20% on the first attempt and 15% on the second. On my third attempt I dropped my ranger and mage out of group and put a cleric and dps merc into the main group. With a cleric merc backing up the druid it was a walk in the park.

I'm confident that if I had tried it at say level 70 it wouldn't have been a problem. The issue is with his mana drain, though. He drained my pally's mana within the first few seconds of the fight so I couldn't self heal, and my druid and shammy went oom before he was dead.

If you're trying the fight at a lower level, like me, then that might give you an idea of what to expect.

P.S. - Strategy for low level folks like me:

* If you're facing the front of the fort, go around the left side to the zone wall. No roamers come through there, so you can safely camp

* It's a good idea to have a puller unless you're strong enough to take 3+ at a time. The giants are pretty hard for their level, but the real problem is their mana drain.

* The trees will not agro unless you've ruined your faction with them

* The frogs that roam will agro. You can either pull them in to camp and kill them (they're easy) or just invis after the tag and run through them. They don't see invis and they won't assist the giants.

* I didn't have a problem with the trees spawning when he was damaged. I'm not sure if the event is bugged or if it was because of the way I pulled. The comments here say that the trees spawn as soon as he's damaged, so I pulled him with a fire dot on my bard (he resists cold). As soon as he was dotted I faded and moved out of the fort. A bard dot lasts 3 ticks so he still came after me, but the trees didn't follow him. I don't think they spawned at all though because I never saw them on track.

P.S.S. - On my third attempt I also had the issue with him being untargetable, even after all the giants were dead (as some previous posters mentioned). I found that was caused by the giants starting to respawn. They don't all respawn on the same timer...it takes several hours for them to all be up again. However, as soon as they START to respawn Neffy is untargetable, even after all the existing respawns have been killed. In other words, you have to wait until they ALL respawn, then come back and clear them out again, and he'll be targetable.

Hope this helps!

If anyone else is looking to kill this guy, he's in the northeastern part of the zone inside of the pallisade fort in the forest. Kill all of the giants inside, and it would probably be a good idea to kill as many frogs outside as you can, as they are the only mobs in the area that wander and attack.

This guy was 2 boxed with an 80 monk and 63 bard, monk had cleric merc. Doesn't hit very hard, the trickiest part was figuring out the tree adds. Once all of the giants are killed (including the ones north by the rocks) he will be targetable. He's inside a hut in the fort. Once he's pulled and takes damage (not sure how much) tree adds spawn and attack the group. From what I had seen, they corpse camp. I got him to about 30% before my healer merc and bard were killed, I FD'd off the named and waited for him to wander back to his hut. Then I killed the trees, hoping they wouldn't respawn with the next pull. Wrong. Second pull he comes, and the trees actually respawned at ~80% again. Got the named to 9% this time, and he didn't frenzy.

Third try he was killed easily.

Lesson: Trees respawn. Once he's pulled initially, you can FD the trees someplace else, but leave them alive as if they are killed and the named resets, the trees will spawn again. If they are left alive during the initial pull and dumped some place else, however, the trees will not respawn. He was easy after the trees didn't come to his aid.

Having come to finish the BoT access quest on an alt, we saw none of the named were up that drop Esoteric Medallions. So, for fun, we decided to clear the camp and try to kill this guy. Was a very tough fight, even when pulled away from his ent friends. He dropped Bulwark of Storms, Broken Sword Piece, a Spectral Parchment and three Esoteric Medallions. Sucky for the old raiders, but perfect for us!

Fought him with 6 - lev 75 War (CoA+), Druid, Cleric, zerker (group TBS + 2.0 + a little CoA), 65 Cleric, 61 pally (both gimp).
Cleared the fort as usual, pulling outside the fort. Somehow the warrior managed to pull the named without the trees following. May have something to do with the event being failed before (that War + Druid + Pally got him to 50% previously).
Made the event pretty easy. Warrior tanked, 75 cleric ramp-tanked with VoV. Druid was DPS / fernspikes, zerker did the actual damage. The other cleric and the pally had the difficult task of standing on one side and staying off of the agro list :-)
PR was plenty for the tank with an occasional light, cleric never needed any healing as VoV kept him up just fine. The mana drain is no joke - cleric ran out of mana when mob was down to about 15% (started with 11k mana).
The 65 cleric stepped in at that point and threw in a couple of CHs before mob died.

EDIT: he dropped spectral and ethereal parchments

One way to do it
# Aug 09 2007 at 6:56 AM Rating: Decent
I am not uber, I am not gimp either.
Killed him today with 7 people: 75 monk, 75 war, 75 shm, 74 cle, 63 ber, 75 dru and 73 pal - all TSS to CoA geared.

He hits for approx 2k (max 1700 on me - monk), single target rampages for full amount and brings 8 little tree friends (hit for max 400) when you initially pull him.

Setup:
Clear all the giants, including named giants and ALSO the 5 or 6 giants to the north of the fort. Someone mentioned earlier that respawn is a killer. Well, we did not seem to have a problem there with the DPS we brought.

Once Neffliken was targettable, monk pulled and immediatley 8 little trees accompanied him to the group. It was a lengthy attempt at dying as the treelets ate up the healers eventually. So we semi wiped, druid succored and we ran back, rezzed and resumed.
Respawn hadn't happened yet and monk pulled Neffliken again. Much to our surprise, the treelets did NOT come this time, although he himself had fully reset.

Being single, he was no problem.

Lesson learnt: Try to aggro him and FD, coth, FM or succor aggro off, then let event reset. You may be lucky and on next pull he will be single.

If not, well there is nothing but to have someone to keep the treelets occupied. They can be killed and don't respawn, at least not immediately.

Good luck, all you pallies out there Smiley: wink

Wow this is a tougher fight than is stated here.

Key issue is time. The respauns are a killer.

Had invite earlyer in evening to join fight with few toons from Audacia Venator. After taking down three epic mobs most for necro 2.o, mobs. Group we joined asked if anyone needed anything and i said pos and off we went. So just wanted to thank those that came and went to try this twice. Well we wiped on last try, but not for no reason. There are not may posts about this fight that make a lot of sence and so ill lay it down as it happend . Just wanted to make sure to thank all those that came to help and were so kind to offer , it was a blast to do.

Ok first of all there is this green version of Neffiken, LOrd of kelek Vor.
Thats what he cons Before all the giants in the Forest Giant area In Plain of Storms are killed. When all the giants in the Forest giant area are killed, Neffiken, Lord of kelek Vor becomes targetable. It has nothing to do with Brigning your epic bits with you and your running into zone does not cause him to spaun . He was up when we got there and i didnt have my bits with me in any form. So again kill all the giants in the Forest giant area to make Neffiken Lord of kelek Vor targetable.

Where in the fort is he. Good question one i wanted to know too cause i never had seen him and sometimes its hard to get a tracker to verify for you that its up . So If you are standing at the entrance to the fort and looking in. There are 3 buildings . One on the left, one on the right and one dead center dead ahead. He , neffiken lord of kelek vor is inthere. He is not targetable, and hes Green if you look on track. Just dont believe everything you see or read. Cause the moment you kill all the giants in the forest giant area, and can target him He is white. He was white to me, and my palladin is lvl 70. So the green neffekin goes from green to white as soon as he is targetable. Now im not saying that there are not two mobs, one fake neffiken and one real neffiken cause we couldnt kill him to see what he dropped, but i think this is a miss understanding.
What should be said or was meant, was that the one mob turns to a lvl 70 instantly upon being made targetable. Before he is green and can not be targeted and after they are all dead but him he is white and targetable.
If im wrong prove it .

Ok now what does he do? Also a good quesion. Well i was surprised to see that he hit for like 1400 or so hps on a fairly regular basis and was no slouch as far as giants go. He had a manna tap of 1500 points and rampaged very often. We had a raid group of 1 and a half groups. With no clerics shamis only. If we had had 2 clerics or one cleric we could probrably have taken the mob. I have 11k or little more when buffed. He was not having any trouble cutting me up into bite size chunks.
He also quads for as much as 4k little more. So hes no goof.
Appologies i didnt see if he was slowable i was to busy trying to stun, or hit him.

So to sum things up. I think that the posts i have read here about there being two Neffikin , lord of kelek vors is a bit misleading. The mob shows up green to lvl 70 till he can be targeted at which point he turns white, even con. So think this is where some say there are two. Not entirly sure Though as we got killed and never got to loot this one , hes pretty tough. Also the key to this fight as stated in these threads is that you have to have a lot of dps. Fast kills equal beating the respaun time and making him targetable very quick. would recommend at least 2 tanks and some rangers and 2 clerics . Need to have at least 2 full groups and possibly a 3rd but if the Two groups are solid and buffed Two would probralby be enough Dps is key .
Pulling is also a challenge as pally had a few nasty pulls of 4 so maybe ranger so can get singles or bard , or enchanter some can be mezed.
This should help with some of the false data posted here. The quiver for the bits of the sword you loot from all the mobs has nothing to do with making him targetable and unless somone comes back here and proves to me that there are really two Lord kelek vors and give me spaun times after the fake one is down, i believe that there is just one that after being first seen on track as green. Turns white even con to a lvl 70, after being made targetable, By killing all the forest giants in the forest giant area.
Thanks for all that came to help and all the help i got from guildies and new found friends. Loved the hunts and even the failures .

Hi, all my paladin has this but wanted to post some new observations.
Some of us alot more than not still need epic and 1.5 prequest looks better than the 1.0 anyday .

Well we got a solid group together and small half group. 75 necro 75 palladin 70 sk 66 cleric 75 sk 75 paly 75 druid . He was up we buffed up and started away at things . Our dps was good me on my necro and druid dots and mele dps. Things were good we cleared the outside and then moved to front gate . Frogs adding was a bit of a pain but was shorter pulls and faster to get to groups.
We got everthing killed and down no deaths yet.
Now the real pickle was a part of this i never saw happen. There really are a mob maybe 10 look like dead trees just come after every one when you pull the named and try to fight him in fort. Not a good idea. Adds were not high con but jumped cleric and named was mauling the tank as cleric was stun mezed to her death followed shortly by most everyone else. So There really are trees never seen them in 3 previous attempts for different toons but they are there.

We regrouped the raid reinforced with a chanter beastlord and another cleric. It was dicey cause we were worried the ropops would start making the named untargetable again. This did not happen, and when we started again I pulled the necro with a dot no snare i wanted him to move his butt out of the fort and ran him to the wall where my guild quickly dispatched him with out a problem. Pally now has one less fight and it was still a blast. Just dont forget the tree's, don't fight him in the fort and Dont forget he has a manna drain cause he will end your raid fast if you do.

Good luck had fun hope you do too.

Hi, Palladins

Wanted to put down here that i finnally got this fight finished . Guild came through big time and we gathered 3 groups mostly lvl 70's with mixed mid sixty toons. Main tanks were both lvl 70's none of the group was time equiped and most of our best stuff comes from archstone and relic. Recommend alot of dps as you need to kill giants fast and make the named Neffiken targetable. Read the above post its pretty clear.
The dead trees inside did not add. Maybe at one time they did or can but no trees on my fight few days ago, not the ones from inside fort anyhow. You dont need the scabard that you put epic bits in i didnt have mine, but bring it just in case. He droped the bit for me. So for certain there is no fake neffiken, he is there untargetable but on track he shows as green. Till he can be targeted then hes even con to a lvl 70. all other data on him above is correct. Reccomend three groups went fast and clean. Good luck and have fun .

HI, just put raid together to try and get this guy again.

Tryed on wednesday and failed. So here i am and he didnt show up but is only way to schedual is say a time and hope for best. Does anyone know exact time of respaun after failed attempt or kill. How long is it before he come back?

Also for all of you nontracking palladins like my self , if you can get a lev there is a tree on the side ofthe building where neffikin lord of kelek vor spauns. If you get leve walk to hillside /zone wall behind for and walk to tree u can climb it to spot where u can see if he is up or not . He shows on track but this way you can look your self see if he is there. You look through open gable into room he spauns if he is there you will see him .

Max hit on 70 Paladin with max defensive aas, shielding 10%, shield avoidance aas was 1393. He procs something that doesn't show up as a spell called mana bolt which drains all of your mana. Single target only thankfully. Immune to slow, somewhat magic resistant but was able to land crippling spasm after malos, tash, bard song. No adds spawn during killing him. Killed him with 11, raid average was probably 68 or 69. He also rampages and enrages. Nothing else of importance about it.

This is incorrect , The mob Neffikin Lord Of Kelek 'Vor becomes targetable , when all the forest giants of his kind in the area of the fort are dead. He then becomes targetable. Makes no difffernce if you have the quest bag or not , see top post for details .

You have to pull the trash around the fort in the forrest part and kill him. Three groups of 65+ are necesary for safe.
