I bought this at around lvl 15, have had for very long time and too lazy and broke to buy a new secondary. The proc is basically useless by the time it procs(at lvl 30), things usually have way more hp than this could make a difference in mid-battle. A bloodpoint is much better and would help me a lot, im planning to get one too.

Just bought one as a range item for my level 6 rogue, and have a question: Anyone know if the poison proc still takes effect if used as a range item? I know he has to level a bit until its a concern, but I still want to know)

This is an OK weapon to twink with, but it's also a very good resist item for Trak raids. +10 PR, it goes in the range slot, and it only weighs 0.6. I keep it just for that.
Otherwise, it's not a very good rogue weapon, especially at high level...if you have a high dex, it will proc fairly often, and no intelligent rogue will be happy about attracting that much attention (and at that point, a 150-point DoT isn't terribly important). It's a decent lowbie warrior or SK piercer though.
Common drop off of the Golem Master. If you camp the North or West wings of HS for any length of time, you'll probably get a couple of them.

Was on with my 39 wizard doing some ports -- trying to make enough money to purchase some new weapons for my Warrior -- and some high level guy gave me this instead of money for the port - i was like great another piece of crap weapon to pawn off on a n00b in Gfay. Only when i looked at close i realized that it was a nice tip !

I had one of these on my rogue. Nice weap, i loved it. I died on day because my group was acting like idiots and my corpse got bugged and i never got my corpse back. I now have a walrus tooth and a dragoon dirk =( I miss my impaler.

It procs poison at level 33.

This item drop on Golem Master in the North wing !
But you can find Golem master in the West Wing too :)

Does anyone know if the effect acts as a DOT and if it does, how much dmg per tick does it do?
