To make some feel Better I completed this a tad late in the game JC was 302 and 317 with geerlock. Luckily seal didn't get eaten put in another shard and silver bar and Boom done...

I did this combine with 273 jewelcraft (geerlok) and FAILED and got a skillup very pissed off. This is definately not trival at 250 if I got a skillup to 261. I'm very ticked off because I lost 6k.

I was going to say that as far as I know the trivial for this is 300 or more because my husband failed with much cursing at 299!

Just gotta rant a bit. Was reading people saying they made this PoS with skill at 190, and some with skill at 236 or whatever. My skill is 220. I failed 12 combines back to back, Int 270 Dex 237 and I am just sitting here so jaded about this, I cannot believe I honestly failed 12 attempts. This cost me a fortune, and hours of running around vendor diving for the gems. /rant off.

Since the trivial is 250+ maybe you should try getting your skill to that level before complaining that you fail.

Also those attemping at lower skill level where probably using Geerlok and where lucky.
Does +5% jc skill stack with geerlock?

Anyone know if the +5% jc of the eyeglass stacks with the +5% of the geerlock to give you a total of +10%?

No, for tradeskill modifiers, the game will simply use the highest-percentage modifier you have. They don't stack.

After seeing the below poster, I tried it at 196 skill in JC. Failed frrr >:(

Skilled up to 230, got the items, closed my eyes and turned my head, and hit the button.

When I turned around, I had the eyeglass on my cursor.

WOOT!!!

Ammo Slot
# Oct 30 2004 at 8:33 PM Rating: Default
To clear up whether this can be placed in the ammo slot:

I was confused because my eyeglass did NOT go in the ammo slot, whereas the picture clearly shows that it does. Furthermore some authentic Magelo profiles have it in the ammo slot.

I thought maybe I needed to do the gnome's quest to change it. So, preparing to do that, I removed the aug from it and voila! Apparently having an aug on an item block it from being equippable in ammo slot.

However, like everything I am aware of (except arrows/throwing items?) it grants no stats whatsoever when equipped in ammo slot. I have no reason to believe the 5% jewelcraft bonus is any different. I guess the folks with the eyeglass in their ammo slot on Magelo, just want to prove they do indeed have it.

So, I reinstalled the aug and it doesn't say AMMO any more. (Why aug it? Because I use it situationally in range slot, the 50 charisma is nice when charming.)

if the augment is now allowed in that slot, it will limit the equipment it's in as long as it's in there so it can't be in that slot

you get no stats from any item in ammo slot, but you DO get skill bonuses
did not used to be that way, but was always meant to
they fixed it for fishing bait to work correctly

I had my 35 lvl chanter at 250 jewelcraft and with geerlock 252 and pottery 132. It took me a couple of tries to make the poison vial which doesn't triv until 140 something. A nice high level chanter combined the poison vial and 4 rubies and purified mana to give me a vial of purified mana. The four stones and velium mounted without problem and the seal was then completed and fired. On the final combine I took a deep breath and clicked the combine button. The eyeglass appeared!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I suppose the numerous hours of combines and thousands of plat spent was worth it. It was sure exciting at the end.

If your eyeglass has the effect that summons the satchel, you ALREADY HAVE the upgraded one. that quest is for people who made theirs before they added the effect.

They were really nerfing them, as the old ones were not lore, so you could have 3 equipped at once (well 4, but no stats from the one in ammo), so they threw in the bag effect as a bonus.

I am guessing the upgrade quest for this item given by Jolum makes the old eyeglass ammo-slot equippable. I tried to upgrade mine but nothing happened - so I presume I already had the new one that I had made only a month ago.

Well I wasnt interested in Jewelcraft til i seen this really nice ring for sale for 75k. Where was I gonna get that kind of plat from ... I had no idea, so I looked on alla and seen that the ring I wanted could be made. So in 3 days I went from 22 in Jewelcraft to 250 wasting 15k total. I had to sit in POK and cast virtue all day so I could make the money back that I spent on my skill. I bought a artisian's seal in the bazaar for about 4.9k... First combine for eyeglass was a failure. I was broke again and after a few more days in POK I was reading my guild chat and seen someone selling for 4.5k. I bought it and 2nd combine was a success. I am soo glad I got it and now am only left with like 300 plat in the bank...
FINALLY!
# Nov 15 2003 at 3:33 PM Rating: Decent
I got it... This was the pride of my YEAR, I think. Blew every plat I had on several different characters, sent my higher level druid out hunting ice giants, hill giants, geos, ANYTHING that would help me get my JC fix. When the skill level hit 250, I think I danced in my chair. Then realised that I was going to have to blow another chunk of change just to get that little eyeglass that would sit in my inventory as a solid CLAIM to the fact that I'd worked my butt off for this. I have to say it was the most disheartening three failures I ever made before I finally closed my eyes and hit 'combine' for the fourth time. BEHOLD!! The eyeglass was there and I woke my roommate with the shriek. Yes, it may be stupid... but I DESERVED that. It's also come in VERY handy on nearly every LDoN raid I've been on since. It's real easy to be the Master Looter when you can summon bags like crazy and don't get weighed down. Would I go through this again? No way. Now my little jeweller also has a 148 in pottery, so that I can make artisan seals on my own. Still expensive, but it won't be nearly as bad as this time. Still. Good to have, even just to be able to say you DID it.

Trivial 260 is way off.

According to the formula in EQTrader forums, a person with 252 adjusted skill (240+ and a Geerlok) will have 95% success rate on anything with a trivial of around 265 or lower. For 50% success rate the trivial weould be around 310.

I haven't seen the success rate on the trophy pinned down anywhere...I've seen guesses as high as 65% and as low as 35%. Anybody got hard info? Please no more guesses.

Not worth it
# Sep 18 2003 at 12:38 AM Rating: Default
Saved up for several months, with the help of friends to about 3k so I could even start jewelcraft. I don't have a lot of playtime and no super high characters so I had no way of collecting a bunch of plat. I enchanted every single item I made while skilling which made it take quite a bit longer, but got me some profit. Between that and regular levelling, I had about 7k by time I hit 250. I spent a bunch of that getting pottery to 148. I succeeded on the artisan seal twice and failed on the final combine twice, with a geerlok, wiping me down to 500pp.
So now I'm back to where I was months ago, only I'm at 250 in what is now a useless skill since the augmentations from LDoN have made nobody really care about a bit of jewelry.
So if you're a casual gamer and can't get a bunch of money easily, don't even bother with this. It's another useless Sony timesink, only this one doesn't just eat up your time, it eats up what little you can "earn" in that time. That kind of plat can be used to get other things without the stress of losing months of work.

Agree with Tarv. I make a lot of Valorium Ring of Gallantry and Bloodmetal Earring of Engagement. I'm 250 JC with Trophy - got mine first attempt, which was at skill 250 w/ Geerlok and Lady Luck pressing the combine button.

i disagree i am a Gm jewelrycrafter on Druzzil Ro and not only do i have a stream of friends asking my to do combines for them i also make 2-3k a week selling in bazaar <while i am in bed> it is true that LDoN has made it easier to add whatever stat you wanted to any piece in the game but my market is primarily twinks who

a. can't get into LDoN
b. don't want items with 'recommended level xx'
c. realise that when they do get into LDoN they can just as easily augment they jewelry as any other item

I agree not worth it. My JC is 250, DEX 210(buffed), Int 305, and have failed TWICE on final combine. This is not balanced with other class trophies. @#$% SOE.I will try once more. However want and worth are to different values.

This isn't a success story. Rather one of failure. I worked my INT up to 251, JC up to 239 and went and bought me a geerlok. Worked on pottery and made the seal, threw everything in the Bag and hit combine. Wam, Bam... Nothing. 3.5K down the drain. Worked JC up to 247, same INT stats... Missed again. Grats to all that has made this item, but for me. I give up. 8k down the drain. For nothing to show, not even an up in JC skill. ***** SoE for making this so hard. I personally don't think I should have missed twice with these stats. But that's just my 2 cp.
I got mine!

Took me TWO tries, but it is SOOOOO worth it for an enchanter. I'm gonna max my fletching, and go for a second. Yeah, call me greedy, but hey, I'm loving +50cha. Unbuffed, I have 186 cha, then I hit myself with a charisma buff, and... well... what can I say... my charms like to STICK. It's expensive, but worth it. It's like 3500pp per try. Only one problem I had... someone's hoarding the JACINTHs. Jeez, you'd think there was an armor quest with them or something ;P. With these lovely trophies, I can focus on my int and wis. Wis on a chanty? You bet! Helps with all the stuff I make...
