So, the level 48 pet spell summons a level 43 pet... and this spell, which is level 55, summons a level 41 pet. Complete junk.

The level 48 animation spell summoned, at lest for me, a level 34 (at character level 48) to a 39 level (at character level 50). They might scale with levels I dunno.
Nobody has mentioned what buffs this pet can take, so I will add my comments since I find this animation very useful.
Although this pet is lt blue at to me at 55, it is high enough in level to use the better Mage, summoned weapons (I always use Girdle of Magi`kot, Muzzle of Mardu, Blade of the Kedge and/or Blade of Walnan) and it can be buffed with Virtue and Boon of the Garou. Buffed further with haste, strengthen, and Feedback, I can easily solo for aa's in Natimbi and Dranik's Scar. Granted, most of these trash mobs are also lt blue and green, but it's safe, easy and profitable. Also, with a Druid, this pet makes a pretty decent tank for better exp mobs.

just a quick question.....
gave my pet 2 summoned fists but only one appeared, so pet had appeared to have 1 fist and 1 sword showing. anyone know why lvl 55 pet doesnt show both fists like earlier pets did?

Noticed that the level of this pet has changed with a recent patch. Pre-patch, the pet was dk blue to my Enc 56; now it always cons lt. blue to my Enc 56. Tried maxing my CHA and still get only lt. blue pets. Was unable to tell if the DPS dropped as well but suspect it did. Any ideas what happened? This pet now is essentially little better than the level 49 one.

I agree....I just got this spell at 56 and my pet is light blue as well. What gives? It seems it's no better than the lvl 49 spell.
Gonna /bug this and see if they just screwed something up in the database during a patch.

An interesting thing to note, apparently this pet has the warrior ability to shield as well. I've only had it do it once so far, but the message was quite distinct.
I assume it will only shield the caster, but as the pet actually has decent DPS I may use it in groups that I'm not charming for CC

When I can't find a group I like, I enjoy partnering with a druid, beastlord, or necro. This spell comes in handy for added dps in those situations or in small group of healer, tank and I. Without giving it anything, this pet regularly hits twice for high 30s to 55, and bashes as well. Haven't parsed it, but if it does so once per tick on avg - its probably in the 10-15 dps range. Safe added dps in crawls or static camps. If you have trouble getting agro slow, then move up next to the mob and sit. Not slowing? - Tash. Works nearly every time for me.
On Luclin this spell was quite expensive, so I ended up paying 1200p to train up to 170 in research, got the new research book, and made it myself.

Confirmed, the maximum hit for this pet is 55.
If you can't get aggro to engage the pet by methods above (sitting, tashing), root the mob and stand on top of it. Rooted mobs hit whoever's closest.
If it doesn't work, somebody's standing closer or they broke root by hitting the mob. you probably didn't really want aggro anyway...if they're working so hard to keep aggro off you, you're probably annoying them (and the cleric) by trying to get hit. If you can't get aggro it's probably on purpose.
If/when I work with a pet in a group, I use the root method because it has a big advantage: you can LOSE aggro too, by just backing out; and thus limit your pain to a single round of hits. Tash/slow/stun aggro is not so easily shucked off.
<edit> And sitting guarantees you'll get pounded for max damage, probably doubled.
Also, in a group, be considerate and Berserker Spirit yourself if possible, so the healer doesn't have to watch you so close and put the tanks at risk. If BS isn't stacking with cleric buffs, consider a Rune between fights.
All of these complications are the reason I seldom stick out a pet in a group.
Love to solo with 'em though!
