For an overview, schedule, and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry. This is an anniversary shared task (1-6 players) introduced with EverQuest's 16th anniversary. It begins with Agent Seudavenaa (click for map image) at /loc -625, 715, -145 in the Plane of Knowledge (located under the western bridge on the evil side of the zone). Pre-Requisites for Requesting: - Level 75 - No other requirements This task acts as a heroic adventure. Mob levels inside the instanced zone will vary according to the highest level player presently in the zone. Say "Korucust" to request the task and "ready" to zone in. You say, 'Hail, Agent Seudavenaa' Agent Seudavenaa says 'Ah, you must be the ones that the Emperor sent to me. I don't have time to chatter; [Korucust] is waiting for you before he makes his entry as it may cause the inhabitants to become alerted to his presence.' You say, 'Korucust' Agent Seudavenaa says 'Very good. You are an excellent servant of the Master. Let me know when you are [ready] and I will send you to Korucust. Do not tally about.' You have been assigned the task 'Korucust's Royal Pain'. You have been tasked with helping Korucust on his expedition in Chardok. You say, 'Ready...' Agent Seudavenaa says 'For the Emperor! ' LOADING, PLEASE WAIT... You have entered Chardok, Korucust's Royal Pain. None of the mobs in this zone see invis. About the Bonus Item In this task are two items called "Key Shaft" and two items called "Key Teeth". One set is used to obtain the bonus item, and one set is used to progress the task. Used for Bonus Item ("dubious" emote for forage and dropped by trash mobs, respectively): Used to Progress Task ("promising" emote for forage and dropped by the Prince, respectively): Note: The icon for the promising "Key Teeth" was changed to the above in a patch on March 25, 2015. Speak with Korucust 0/1 (Chardok) Say "stopped" to update the task. You say, 'Hail, Korucust' Korucust says 'Good good. Here you are. Don't mind the [corpses]. You don't look like someone that the Master would send, but since you are here you will do. And don't think to betray me, or you will join the corpses at my feet. The [matter] is too important to deal with your foolishness.' You say, 'What's with these corpses?' Korucust says 'I said don't mind them. They were in the way.' You say, 'What matter?' Korucust says 'You have read my notes. If not, well I don't care, you are here. The Ring of Scale has infiltrated Chardok. They must be [stopped]. They have replaced the royal family with doppelgangers and plot the demise of the Di`Zok.' You say, 'Stopped?' Korucust says 'Yes. You will be my claws for this task. Leave Prince Selrach Di`Zok to me. You go through the [library] and deal with the doppelgangers of [Overking] Bathezid and [Queen] Velazul Di`Zok. Also, while we are here to save the Di`Zok, the ones you will encounter have been tainted by their exposure to the doppelgangers. You will need to kill them to remove their influence. Of course if you are too cowardly for this task, you may [leave], and quickly before I slaughter you as the poultry you are.' You say, 'Where is the library?' Korucust says 'You did not bring a map? I begin to wonder if you are correct for the job at hand. Leave this room; go down and to the west. Clear the Di`Zok to the south, then go north and continue counterclockwise through the halls, removing the tainted Di`Zok. You will pass the prince's rooms on the West side of the halls, but don't worry about him, just pass his rooms by. Continue until you find the library door on the south side of the hallway.' You say, 'What about the Overking?' Korucust says 'You will find him in his normal rooms beyond the library. You could just fall into the pit trap at that library exit, but I would advise being more careful than that. Don't forget the illusory wall on the safer path to his rooms.' You say, 'And the Queen?' Korucust says 'It is possible she is in her room speaking with the advisor, but lately she has been spending more time with the Overking.' Let no being get in your way 0/17 (Chardok) Kill every hostile sarnak in the zone. All judicators, sorcerers, and Councilmen are mezzable, stunnable, and rootable/snareable. They tend to hit for a max ~20,000 and have an average amount of hitpoints for their levels (104-106 or so). Open the library door 0/1 (Chardok) This will be locked. Speak with Korucust about the key 0/1 (Chardok) You say, 'Hail, Korucust' Korucust says 'So, they have upgraded the security on the doors and you cannot get through. Some agent you are. Fine. I have a [method].' You say, 'What method?' Korucust says 'I have a [device] that I will give you that will allow you to create a key that will work on the door, but to make it work, you will have to find [fragments] of it.' You say, 'What device?' Korucust says 'Yes. This will take seemingly unrelated parts and put them together. There is a method to it, but it is a bit mysterious as to what parts it picks. You will have to find the [fragments] yourself.' You say, 'I'll find the fragments' You receive "Selrach Di`Zok's Key" and "Operative Skeleton Key Mold". Kill the sarnak defending the prince 0/10 (Chardok) Obtain the key shaft 0/1 (Chardok) Forage 1 Key Teeth 0/1 (Chardok) Kill the 10 newly spawned mobs inside and outside the Prince's chambers. This includes the "Echo of Chardok" which appears to hit a bit harder than standard mobs (immune to mez; average hitpoints; only slightly slowable; sees invisibility, but non-KOS). NOTE: There are nine mobs in the Prince's room and pathing is awkward, so you'll need to be careful pulling and splitting here. To open the door to the Prince's room, you have to hold "Selrach Di`Zok's Key" on your cursor and press "U". The Key Shaft drops from Prince Selrach Di`Zok, who is leashed to the platform on which he stands. If pulled outside this range, he warps back to his spawn point, strips all debuffs, and drops aggro. As a fight, he doesn't appear any more difficult than other mobs in the zone (a few more hitpoints). "Key Teeth" can be foraged in the zone (may require a high level Forage skill). It is tradeable. Note that there are two versions of this item: One whose icon appears as metal shards (used for the task's bonus item); the other updates the task (used in the next step). Create 1 Korucust's Library Key using tradeskills 0/1 (Chardok) NOTE: Before doing this combine, you can instead use the other "Key Teeth" (the one that triggered the "dubious" emote and did not update the task) with the other "Key Shaft" found in the zone (the one that drops from a trash mob rather than the Prince). This combine produces a key used to open the chest at the zone-in (bonus item). It also consumes the Key Mold container, so you'll have to get another one from Korucust after. (You can't open the chest, however, until you have completed the task.) To progress the task: Inside the "Operative Skeleton Key Mold", combine 1x "Key Shaft" (Prince drop) and 1x "Key Teeth" ("promising" emote) to produce 1x "Korucust's Library Key". Open the library door 0/1 (Chardok) Kill any sarnak that may be witness to your actions 0/30 (Chardok) Kill 1 Overking Bathezid 0/1 (Chardok) Kill 1 Queen Velazul Di`Zok 0/1 (Chardok) There are 40 other Sarnaks to kill. The King and Queen are found side-by-side in the deepest part of this area, and the place is packed with Sarnaks. Be mindful of awkward pathing and casting mobs while pulling and splitting. As with earlier, all mobs (other than nameds) appear mezzable, stunnable, and rootable/snareable. You will need to clear all mobs in their room before the King and Queen can be attacked. The King and Queen don't appear to assist the regular zone population (or have very low aggro/assist ranges), but they do assist each other. They are NOT leashed (can be pulled to any distance) and are splittable from one another. Each is of average difficulty (maybe a bit higher hits, but not much known). Kill 4 Grand Master Zum`uul and his minions 0/4 (Chardok) He is of average difficulty. During the fight, you'll have three sets of drake adds spawn at different health intervals (adds are relatively trivial mobs and susceptible to all forms of crowd control). Known possible combinations (to be killed in the orders listed): - 1x "an azure drake" (blue) - 1x "a cobalt drake" (blue) - 1x "an indigo drake" (blue) - 1x "a vermilion drake" (red) - 1x "a veridic drake" (green) - 1x "a cerulean drake" (blue) - 2x "a guardian drake" (red) - 1x "a guarded drake" (black) - 1x a drake maiden - 1x a drake matron - 1x a drake crone - 1x "an intense drake" (flies medium height) - 1x "an intense drake" (flies lowest) - 1x "an intense drake" (flies highest) Each drake set updates the task, and the Grand Master's death updates the fourth kill count requirement. Speak with Korucust about what you found 0/1 (Chardok) You say, 'Hail, Korucust' Korucust says 'Ah very good. Did you confirm my suspicion? Was the advisor a [dragon]?' You say, 'It was a dragon!' Korucust says 'The Ring of Scale is deceptive in their tactics. Remember to always assume they are lying to you. You may now [Leave].' Korucust looks like a shark that ate a satisfying meal. Rewards: 800 platinum Experience (around 8-9 AAs at Level 105) 10 Commemorative Coins Bonus Item: Sarnak Seneschal Mask (see above writeup) | |
