This is a permanent raid that was introduced with EverQuest's 15th anniversary. It begins with Jorgar the Pacifist (click for map image) in the far north-central part of the Plane of War (/loc 2570, -500, 200).

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Level 95
- No other requirements

Summary

- Say "serious" to request the expedition and "prepared" to zone in.
- Move your raid into the chamber (event is unaggro until triggered, so can set up wherever).
- Once ready to begin, hail one of the Zek brothers and say "challenge".
- Warning: This event has a 25-minute "enrage" timer; if the event isn't killed within this timer, it powers up.
- It's been reported that range DPS on Tallon Zek and melee DPS on Vallon Zek is the better setup.
- Balance them down in health as best you can.
- You'll get "a Rallosian _____" adds as the event goes on, so you'll need DPS and tanks dedicated to adds.
--- Adds appear to spawn in the center area.
- Tallon Zek:
--- AE rampages; casts random single-target "Barb of Tallon" AEs.
--- Casts emote-based target-area AEs (damage area is visible as an aura before it hits).
- Vallon Zek:
--- Procs a feign death effect on tank; casts aggro decrease on tank; AEs an aggro increase effect around him (DPS needs to be careful with aggro on Vallon).
--- Spawns duplicates of himself that attack, but despawn after a short time.



Requesting the Expedition

You say, 'Hail, Jorgar the Pacifist'

Jorgar the Pacifist says 'Tell me, _____, why did you come here? Do you hunger for blood? Is your appetite only satiated by senseless war? The [battle] never ends on this plane.'

You say, 'What battle?'

Jorgar the Pacifist says 'Some mask their bloodlust by claiming to fight for vengeance, while others slaughter their foes to reap the spoils of war. I suppose it doesn't really matter why you are here, the end result is always the same - death and destruction. There are no victors here. All that engage in war will lose, whether it's their life or their honor. I have already lost more than I care to remember; brothers and friends, lured into the all-consuming madness of war. It will never end as long as the [Zek] brothers have a presence here.'

You say, 'The Zek brothers?'

Jorgar the Pacifist says 'Vallon and Tallon have loyalists throughout the plane, rewarding those who lack morality, and show a fondness for brutality. Notoriety is gained through senseless death and destruction. If someone were to [challenge] the warlords, it is possible the fighting may stop long enough for some of my brothers to come to their senses.'

You say, 'We could challenge them'

Jorgar the Pacifist says 'Although I have a general disdain for war, I know that some battles must be fought for the greater good. If you're [serious] about facing the Zek brothers, I can lead you to the door. Be warned, they are the personification of war, employing both strategy and tactics when facing their foes. It will not be an easy fight.'

You say, 'We're serious!'

Jorgar the Pacifist says 'Very well then. Once you are [prepared] for battle, I will lead you to their door.'

You say, 'I am prepared'

Triggering the Raid

Everyone should be inside the chamber before triggering the raid, as the doorway closes after it starts.

Inside the chamber, you'll find Tallon Zek and Vallon Zek on opposite sides. Speak to one of them and say "challenge" to make them aggro. Note that both summon from 100% health, so have tanks ready.

Hail one of the brothers (their responses are the same) and say "challenge" to begin the event:

You say, 'Hail, Tallon Zek'

Tallon Zek says 'A mortal? How original. I suppose you think you can [challenge] the Sons of Zek on the precipice of victory as well!'

You say, 'We challenge you!'

Tallon Zek says 'We will have to be brief. There is business to attend to.'

Tallon Zek shouts, 'A challenge, brother! How will we survive?'

The Zek Brothers aggro at this point.

Vallon Zek shouts, 'I know not, brother. Perhaps we should defeat them in the same manner as always!'

Tallon Zek shouts, 'You mean, by using superior tactics to inflict severe pain on our foes?'

Vallon Zek shouts, 'The very plan indeed, brother. Why change what works?'

Tallon Zek shouts, 'Why indeed, brother. Why indeed?'



The Zek Brothers

This event seems to be a beefed up version of the Seeds of Destruction raid of the same name in the Rathe Council Chambers.

Both gods are permanently rooted, aggro-linked, and summon from 100% health.

In past raids involving both brothers being fought at once, Tallon Zek has generally been a ranged fight while Vallon Zek has generally been a melee fight. The two of them need to be balanced in health for the duration of the event.

You can expect adds. Lots of them. Adds appear every 5% of Vallon Zek's health (confirmed). There may also be some timed adds (not confirmed). It's possible the more out of balance in health the Zek brothers are, the more adds you'll get (not confirmed).

Adds have varying abilities and susceptibilities according to their type (more details below).



Tallon Zek

Tallon Zek is known to AE rampage and has AEs. He hits for a max ~52,000 (possibly higher) and keeps the raid inflicted with "Tallon's Balance":

He has an arsenal of random-target "Barb of Tallon" spells:

As long as Tallon Zek is active, he'll target a random area within the event area (can be anywhere). Anyone within the area will see this emote:

Tallon Zek appears to be taking aim at this area.

At the same time, a fire ring appears around the targeted area (you need certain spell effects on to see it the ring). A short time after the initial emote, you see this:

Tallon launches an explosive towards a large group of his antagonists.

...as the area is hit with "Incendiary Blast":

Vallon Zek

Vallon Zek hits for a max ~52,000 (possibly higher) and is known to single-target rampage and flurry. He casts the aggro spells "Vallon's Precision" (AE'd) and "Vallon's Subversion" (on tanks), so DPS needs to watch their aggro.

He spawns duplicates of himself that seem to focus their hate on random targets. These clones despawn by themselves after a short time.

NOTE: It's possible he casts "Vallon's Immunity" at some point (a 90% reduction to incoming spell damage), but this is NOT confirmed as having actually been seen in this event.

For anybody still working it. Mellee DPS is essentially meaningless on the adds. Its all about hitting them with 3-4 spells that they are weak to. Damage of the spell is irrelevant. A very low damage spell will still scale up to several million damage on the 3rd or 4th cast.

Raid is all about hitting the adds with what they are weak to while balancing the zeks down so they do not swap places.

There are some old school weapons you can farm that have procs on them that exactly match a player spell. The proc effects will do massive damage. Any proc that does not exactly match a player spell will not scale up.

The proper name for this raid per the Achievement is "The Brothers Zek". There is a mission in Rathe Council Chambers with the same name.

The goblin and giant adds are percentage based. Every 5% of Vallons health. They don't change based on imbalance, simply every 5% of VZ health.

Seems to be exactly like the SOD raid Rathe Council Chambers Event #1: The Brothers Zek. Just amped up on steroids. The adds appear to have around 3 million hps or more. Add in Fire auras that pop up randomly all around the area you have to fight in and the brothers being far enough apart and in separate rooms that your DPS gets spread out so cant assist each other.

To win you need
Massive DPS. Flawless balancing to minimize adds. Tanks spamming stand to deal with the Tactical Strike FDs on Vallon every 20 seconds, and healers that are really on the ball.

Back in SOD it was one of the most challenging events and it still is extremely challenging. Might be a bit hard and if Sony wants more than a few guilds to beat it I would expect it to get tuned down some. That said nice to actually have an event that is not a walk in and win the first time.

Spent 2 1/2 hours wiping to it last night. Will see how today goes.
