This is an anniversary group mission introduced with EverQuest's 15th anniversary. It begins with Commander Gorok in the Plane of Tranquility (located at the portal stone for the Plane of War.

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Level 65
- No other requirements

Summary

Speak to Commander Gorok on the battlefield 0/1 (Plane of War)
Fight on the battlefield until you become enraged 0/1 (Plane of War)
Use your rage to slaughter opponents on the battlefield 0/1 (Plane of War)
Defeat Commander Zarg and Commander Torshik 0/1 (Plane of War)
Return to Commander Gorok 0/1 (Plane of War)

- Say "willing" to request the task and "ready" to zone in.
- Say "begin" to Commander Gorok to trigger the event
--- Note: This triggers zonewide emote-based AEs.
- Kill mobs in the Field of Strife until you gain a buff called "Enraged" (takes about 20-25 mobs).
--- Mobs in this zone are significantly less difficult than those found in the static version of the zone.
- Continue to kill mobs (optional) while the 5-minute buff is on you.
- Kill Commander Zarg and Commander Torshik at the entrance to the tower in the south-central part of the field.
- Hail Commander Gorok to spawn the chest and complete the task.

Note: In this zone, you are tracked for how fast you kill mobs, how many emotes you successfully follow, and how many mobs you can kill. There is a bonus achievement associated with a high "score".

Triggering the Task

You say, 'Hail, Commander Gorok'

Commander Gorok says 'Commander Gorok says, 'Here you stand, on the brink of war. Before you enter the Plane, you should ask yourself, 'Am I prepared?' War leaves behind more than just visible battle scars, _____. It changes who you are as a person. They don't sing the names of those that lose the fight. Instead, the [defeated] wear their shame as a constant reminder of what's at stake.' The disgraced commander lowers his head.'

You say, 'Defeated?'

Commander Gorok says 'I thought I was prepared. Young and eager, I led my group onto the battlefield, relying on my strength and skill to carry us to victory. I charged at the first foe I saw, and as my axe crunched through their armor, I was filled with an indescribable energy. I tore through enemy after enemy, forgetting my [group] and focusing my full attention on the opponent at the edge of my blade.'

You say, 'Your group?'

Commander Gorok says 'As my final foe fell lifelessly to the ground, I turned to find my group, but was confronted with their bloodied corpses instead. In my haste to win glory on the battlefield, I'd left my group alone; leaderless, and they had paid the [price] with their lives.'

You say, 'What price?'

Commander Gorok says 'Fueled by vengeance, I charged onto the battlefield once again. My aggressions were met by a long line of enemies, at least a dozen rows thick. I swung my axe wildly, with the weight of my group's [death] behind it. I felled a quite a few before their blades did enough damage to drop me.'

You say, 'Death?'

Commander Gorok says 'I vowed to have my disgrace serve a purpose. In honor of my fallen comrades, I ensure that those who enter battle are prepared for what is to come. I help glory seekers become leaders, while training the timid to find their inner strength. So tell me, _____, are you [willing] to learn?'

You say, 'I am willing'

Commander Gorok says 'During this exercise, you'll be placed in the middle of an active battlefield. You will face a variety of opponents that are within your skill range. Your actions will determine the outcome of the war, so choose your foes wisely. Do your best and work as a team to emerge victorious. I will judge your ability and can record your [score], if you wish. Let me know when you are [ready] to begin.'

You have been assigned the task 'War Games'.

Prove yourself to Commander Gorok on the battlefield of the Plane of War.

You say, 'What score?'

Commander Gorok says 'You will be awarded points for the following: efficiency and toughness. This means that the faster you kill, the more points you will earn. Facing more difficult opponents also earns you more points. You will lose points for failing to follow orders, and getting hit by rocks tossed from catapults.'

You say, 'Ready!'

Commander Gorok says 'I'll see you on the battlefield, _____.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Plane of War.

Speak to Commander Gorok on the battlefield 0/1 (Plane of War)

Say "begin" to... begin.

NOTE: After saying "begin" and until the two final named mobs spawn, you'll see zone-wide emotes. Whether you follow them, or not, is optional for task progression:

A catapult is about to fire in your direction!
--- Seen by one player; 10-second warning to a targeted AE at the location the player was standing.
--- While other players don't see the warning emote, if you have spell effects on, you'll see a fire ring appear around the location about to be hit.
--- Move away from the location to avoid the targeted AE (spinstun + 58,000 fully mitigated dmg).

Commander Gorok shouts, 'A Rulnavian supplier appears on the battlefield. Kill him before he reaches the supply carts!'
--- "a Rulnavian supplier" spawns somewhere in the zone; you have two minutes to kill it (you might have to kill it while it's mobile, as it may not react to your aggro).

Commander Gorok shouts, 'Enemy forces are storming the east tower! Kill them before they breach the gate!'
--- You have 75 seconds to kill a mob (or multiple?) outside Castle Tamrel (the east castle entrance).

Commander Gorok shouts, 'Enemy forces are storming the west tower! Kill them before they breach the gate!'
--- You have 75 seconds to kill a mob (or multiple?) outside Castle Rulnavis (the west castle entrance).

Fight on the battlefield until you become enraged 0/1 (Plane of War)

Kill mobs on the battlefield until you get a task update and two buffs (both called "Enraged"). This update takes 20-25 mobs.

NOTE: Unlike the static version of the Plane of War, the mobs here are of average difficulty. They hit for a max ~11,000 to ~14,000 (blue /con to yellow /con), and are stunnable and mezzable. They do summon when damaged, however. They do NOT cast the buffed spells you see in the static version of the zone.

You'll see an emote when you get the update.

Use your rage to slaughter opponents on the battlefield 0/1 (Plane of War)

The "Enraged" buffs last five minutes and boost melee critical attacks and spell attacks. There is no minimum or maximum amount of mobs you need to kill.

Once five minutes are up, this step updates.

NOTE: Once this step updates, the zonewide emotes stop.

Defeat Commander Zarg and Commander Torshik 0/1 (Plane of War)

These two Commanders appear outside the Grandmaster's Tower (the south-central boundary of the Field of Strife). They are outside each other's aggro ranges, so can be split with ease.

They are only marginally more difficult than the average trash mob here (hit for a max ~15,000) and don't appear to have any special abilities or tricks.

Return to Commander Gorok 0/1 (Plane of War)

Rewards:
5 Commemorative Coins
225 platinum
Experience (3-4 AAs at Level 100)

Chest loot consists of 1 augmentation (listed below) + 1 Bloodmetal Inlaid Gnollish Totem:

Bloodied Brawn Stone
Chipped Stone of Starfall
Essence of the Bear Spirit
Fragment of Purethought
Rune of the Nimble

Note that these augmentations share a lore group, so you can only possess one of them.

You can give the Bloodmetal Inlaid Gnollish Totem to Yaldu Bwor (the Gnoll shroud NPC) in the Plane of Knowledge. This will unlock gnoll spirit shrouds that can be used to increase the AC of the Totem clickie. See this quest entry for more details.

If you obtain a high score, you also get access to the suffix title "Dog of War."

Lol, I took my 115 tank, in with my lowbies to get my lower level tank the Bloodmetal.

I went in, although I had done it for my guy years ago... I didn't really remember it, so it was a cluster mess.

1. I went in my 115 me, my caster merc (maxxed), my 97 tank and mage and 94 enchanter. The 3 did nothing but auto follow
2. I ran around and grabbed tons of stuff... paid almost no attention to the lol catapult, which meant my lowbies died (i haven't upgraded their gear at all), and only my lowbie tank lived.
3. I totally.. got lucky in the sense that since i was just smashing everything i got the runners, otherwise I didnt really try

I won... totally a goof fest lol..

It was so easy though

This mission, like many others, scales to level. 2 Commanders at the end of the mission conned yellow to me at 105, but were no tougher than higher con trash mobs (same as last year). Easy mission if you keep your head up :). Soloed this mission (no merc) for fun yesterday...some mobs will summon from 97%. Augments are Lesser Remnant of War" lore type, hence only 1 per player can be obtained (unless you destroy any you have previously won). I didn't attempt to win any points by following emotes, but still ended up with 11.5k points or so at the end (points will come as a message in your chat window). Fun mission..yielded 3 aa's at 105 (for a 15.7k aa ranger)...chest loot was https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=116806 and the usual https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=116790 Good luck and Happy Hunting :)

Your score is provided in a message in your chat window at the end of the mission (after final hail/ chest pop). There are 5 tiers of evolution for the Gnoll totem, and yes it starts evolution at level 1. PL'ing the shrouded character is much advised unless you have a ton of time to kill hehe. The benefit to the totem is well worth the effort. In a day or 2 of PL'ing you can easily evolve it fully. The Quest NPC Yaldu Bwor is in PoK due east of the small bank ..here's a pic of him :) http://zam.zamimg.com/images/5/d/5dea035ac0737ee6c96e8e670a0248f1.jpg. Good luck!

As long as you have not made the last hail to Commander Gorok you can add someone to the task. NOTE! When they get the task, nothing will show updated even thought you are on the last step. Once they zone in, the task will update for them.

Did this mission with hubby today. Our very first attempt was pretty much failure, because we did not know what was going to happen. For the second try we did some research about the task and we got 31 000 points. This was with SK (who boxed shammy) and druid (who boxed a rogue), cleric and wizzy merc. Our goal was to get through the mission, so we ignored most of the messages about suppliers and enemy forces storming towards towers. I did try to get the supplier few times, but bugger runs fast.

So 31 000 points was pretty easy to get with boxed group with mercs. Third time we did this, we tried to be really careful not to get hit with the catapults. I think catapult hit 2 people during the whole fight. Audio triggers helped and we tried to stay on an open area, so we could freely run to any direction, away from the catapult ring. I also managed to kill the supplier once and we defended one tower. For that we got 48 000 points and that was enough for bonus reward.

All our characters have Latent gear and pretty good amount of AAs.

How did you kill the supplier? Snare, Root, Warlord Grasp does not stop him.
Cannot agro him in any way. Which area?

My thoughts are that the best time to get him is when Rage buff activates
so that the extra DPS can kill him fast. Rog would be perfect for this even though
a train is inevitable and probably a suicide run to kill it. Depending on it's route.

I tracked/mapped the supplier through three different routes and realized it's all random.
Also mobs summon if hit so if you riposte while running you'll get summoned back

Any help and strategy would be appreciated.

Supplier is annoying because he runs fast. I can barely catch it up using Druid's cheetah feet buff and then I have time for one nuke until he is out of range again.

He is stunnable though and he does not have that many hitpoints. When we got message about supplier, I left the group and started tracking it and used mark NPC so I could see it better. I would then catch the mob, use a druid nuke with stun component so I had time to land another nuke on it, then run after it and land few more nukes. Took me 4-5 nukes to kill it (wizzy or mage could probably kill it with one nuke and I bet ranger could HS it). Unfortunately it would sometimes resist my nukes. If I got aggro from other mobs, I would let them chase me and the supplier until supplier was dead, and then I used fade.

To see the ring of fire from this emote I went to particles in options, then the player tab, turned Near Clip: Medium, Density: Medium, On For: Everyone, and Opacity: 50%. This will allow you to see the ring of fire even if you personally didn't get the emote.

The two commanders single-target rampage, and some mobs do summon (but the chance of encountering them seem rare). When I received the rage buff, I used it to kill as many mobs as I could in the allotted five minutes to build up my score points, although I have no idea what the purpose is behind them. I received 17.5k score points at the end of the mission (hoo-ray!).

Easily soloed by a 100 druid, not all of the mobs summon so was able to pop wizzy merc and just melt em away until i needed tank merc for last step, stayed close to zone in area and only one that seemed to summon was the charger mobs. I'm sure the yellow con mobs summon though. For the castle defenses I'm pretty sure you have to kill all the mobs attacking the guards at whatever castle to not fail the defense. The suppliers have very little hp and do not aggro/are immune to snare (didnt try root) but can be stunned. The bloodmetal inlaid gnollish totem is tradeable, whether by design or a bug i dont know as well.

This Walkthrough does NOT try to get maximum score, this walkthrough is for lazy people like me who just want the aug.

- Pull mobs along the trench towards north
- After like 20 to 30 kills you get the enraged buff, it lasts 5 minutes
- keep killing stuff until the buff runs out
- when buff runs out, all mobs despawn.
- run to the bosses, kill em
- open chest and enjoy your aug.

Easily moloable by mages/necros, i think SKs can molo it too.

If you stay close to the trench there is actually no way you could get adds unless you're Leroy himself. On a sidenote, mercs and pets dont seem to get damaged by the catapult AE.

GO GO POWER-RANGERS!

These gnoll shrouds should work just like any normal shroud introduced by Depths Of Darkhallow. The maximum selectable level will always be 70, BUT you can unlock more forms of the shroud with more powerful abilities. When you unlock the different forms, the AC bonus you get from the Bloodmetal clicky increases.

That's how you "level up" a shroud. You have to be in the shroud and just xp to make the next form available.

Good question, I missed those expansions with shrouds and I've only ever
done Monster Missions "MM" where leveling up wasn't required. Will have
to grab a totem and figure it out. It should be about killing mobs, no idea
which mobs though. Should be an easy way to PL it though.
