Erollisi Day: The Perfect Companion

This is a seasonal task (offered around Valentine's Day) given by Grimble Grumblemaker in the Plane of Knowledge. He's located at -280, 1510 (just northwest of the entrance to the Guild Lobby).
You say, 'Hail, Grimble Grumblemaker' Grimble Grumblemaker shuffles his feet on the stones. He sighs and looks at you from under his wrinkled brow. 'Why don't [they] like me?! I followed all the steps in 'A Tinkerer's Guide to Love:' Compliment Target, Demonstrate Superior Skill, Create Desire, and Kindle Love! I don't know what's wrong with me!' You say, 'Who is 'they'?' Grimble Grumblemaker says 'You don't know who THEY are?! They're only the most beautiful, talented women in all of [Norrath]! They're elegant, determined, caring, lovely... everything that I would want my lady to be!' You say, 'All of Norrath?' Grimble Grumblemaker says 'Yes, all of Norrath! I am an equal-opportunity appreciator of the female gender! From dark elves to iksar, there is no specimen of woman that I would kick out of my laboratory. For some reason, though, these Special Sixteen -- as I have come to call my beauties -- have all [rejected] my advances!' You say, 'Rejected?' Grimble Grumblemaker says 'Yes, most of them cannot stand to look at me. But I have figured out how to secure their love! If you would be so kind as to [help] me, you will be rewarded. I may be small, but my brain is large, and I know how to use it!' Grimble mumbles under his breath, 'Why did that line never work on them?' You say, 'I will help' Grimble Grumblemaker says 'Oh, thank you! You are such a kind and beautiful soul! You will not regret this! Here is a list of their names and locations. I merely need a few gifts... a few hairs or pieces of loose skin from them. Don't worry! I don't want you to hurt them! Just a little pluck here or there when they're not looking... I just need at least five of them, please.' Grimble rubs his hands together and says to himself, 'This is going to be so good!'' You have been assigned the task 'The Perfect Companion'. Grimble Grumblemaker has made an odd request for you to bring him hair and skin -- 'gifts' he calls them -- from sixteen women of Norrath with whom he is infatuated. Despite any misgivings you might have, he has promised you a reward. Once you have collected at least five 'gifts', return to Grimble and let him know what you have done. Note: All NPCs for this task show up on the Find feature (CTRL+F to bring it up in game). Get close to the NPC, and hail them. They tend to run away, so this may take a few attempts. Note: While you only need to collect five (there is no actual item; only hail updates) before returning to Grimble Grumblemaker, there is an achievement and special item rewarded for getting all 16 updates. He stuffs the disturbing 'gifts' into his pockets. 'Yes! This is wonderful! I can now infuse my clockwork with their essences! It will be the ultimate companion, the greatest woman in all of Norrath! And she will love me unconditionally! They will love me! The Special Sixteen are mine, all mine!' Grimble laughs to himself and clasps his hands. 'I suppose I should pay you... now leave me alone... I have a lot of work to do in my lab! You feel somewhat dirty fulfilling Grimble Grumblemaker's desires, but at least no one was hurt. And you did it for love, right? It might be a strange, unnatural, obsessive love, but love nonetheless. Perhaps you will sleep better tonight by telling yourself that. Rewards: 1,237 platinum, 5 gold (at Level 100) Experience ("a fair amount" -- about 0.7% experience in Level 100) 887pp and 3.75AA worth of xp (at Level 80) There is also a bonus reward if you do all 16 steps: Grimble Grumblemaker searches his packs and retrieves a small bouquet of half wilted roses. He gives you an unnerving grin and speaks excitedly, 'My perfect woman will have no need for these gifts. Please, consider it an extra reward for your diligent service.' Because I am a DE SK, had to go invis. Found if you stand behind them and hail while invis, they do not run and you get it first time.
Hail them the first time will make them run.
take note the path that they are running off.
position your character in the path
Hail them a second time right after the first hail
and while they are just taking off. You should get the hair.

Did this quest at level 80, Turned in all 16 and got 887pp and 3.75AA worth of xp.

Just make sure you're invisible when you hail the women and you'll get the hair/whatever on the first try! Mark my words, that little gnome will have them rubbing lotion on their skin before long...

If you do between 5 and 15, you just get the xp and coins.
If you do all 16, you get the xp, coins, and 1 Erollisi Day Flowers, and the optional checkbox in your Erollisi Day achievement.

Did the full quest and got good plat (202p at lvl 40) and got the Erollisi Day Flowers. But it's very very creepy that you're helping a known perv get hair and skin samples from women. What's this npc gnome going to do with all that? /shudders......
Stop with the Riddles.. Get DE Illusion and ask for your Paineel key!

I can attest DE illusion doesn't work. Not these days at least. :(

I killed Sentinel's in Toxx Forest just now for a short time to raise my faction. I was amiable with Heretics to get key, using DE illusion I was kindly, so illusion did help a bit, but not enough to just get key without raising faction.
Paineel's entrance is guarded by a large rock on top of an elevator. Opening the door requires a rogue or bard with a sufficiently developed lockpick skill, or a Bone Crafted Key, something given to all young Heretics and to those with a high enough (indifferent or better) faction standing who ask for one.

There is nothing to target, clicking the rock does not present any object in the Target window. Standing on the rock and using Lockpick procures the following message: "You can't use pick lock on that."
Why would you think it should be targetable? Sounds like you've never used the U key to open a door before in EQ.
You are being sent out to collect a piece of hair from each. We don't have a /cut a piece of hair emote, but we do have /hail. When you /h them from behind you're basically snipping some hair from them unnoticed. Anyways, works without a hitch every time.

The ones that I stood directly behind did not run. Also, in Cabilis, I was invis, stood directly behind, she did not run. Invis did not drop when I hailed her. When I was standing directly behind, I got the update on the first hail.

What is the item? Anyone know?
The reward is Erollisi Day Flowers, also available on the Marketplace. I also got 1.86 AA ("Gain a fair amount of experience for your efforts") and 1237.5 PP at level 100 with 9K+ AA.
