Anniversary Solo Task: A Cat-tastrophe  

you don't have to chase it. .Just go to WFP and go to the main gates (ones by POK book) and it will update.

6. Chase the cat to West Freeport 0/1 (West Freeport)

Update in East Freeport at -5, -143 (main gates).

The update is in West Freeport at the main gates. I spent so much wasted time looking in East Freeport at that loc when I should have just gone to the main gates in West Freeport.

For the exterminator it should be minus 700 minus minus 787

For the following steps....

Attempt to calm the cat with soothing words 0/1 (West Freeport)

/say "good kitty". Cat does scratch for 6500 damage.

Bind your wounds - again 0/1 (West Freeport)

Same deal as earlier.

Chase the cat into Freeport's Sewers and ask around to find it 0/1 (Freeport Sewers)

I had to tell the cat good kitty again, before the Chase step.... only then did the /loc update work in the sewers (they are ina tunnel on the left as you go down)

As mitsune said, the update doesn't happen if you bind wound and are at full health. In my case I have no bind wound skill or aa, and the dmg from the cat did not drop me below 70, thus Bind wound would not work. I took off my Faerune and took dmg from drowning until I was below 70, and then used bind wound. This worked for the update.

could not get this task while in grp, was only able to get solo.
Bring along fresh fish and Bandages for 2 updates.

Quest:
1) Head to East Freeport and Find Exterminator Pandeen
2) Talk to Pandeen about the cat
3) Investigate the docks
4) Entice the cat with fish
5) Bind your wounds
6) Chase the cat to West Freeport
7) Attempt to calm the cat with soothing words
8) Bind your wounds - again
9) Chase the cat into Freeport's Sewers and ask around to find it
10) Ask the thug leader to return the cat
11) Defeat the thugs
12) Subdue the animal and capture it without killing it
13) Bind your wounds - again
14) Return the cat to Sam Napht

What to do:
1) Hail "Exterminator Pandeen" at .717, -788 in East Freeport (south of dock center).
2) Chat. /say "gear" to get an "Animal Cage".
3) Update at -373 / -925 in East Freeport (center dock).
4) Give the cat a fresh fish (sold by Tanlok Harson at -360, -623; building at dock center). Cat does scratch for 6500 damage.
5) Must do a "bind wound" while you have damage. Binding at full health does not update. Bring some bandages.
6) Update at West Freeport at -5, -143 (main gates)
7) /say "good kitty". Cat does scratch for 6500 damage.
8) see 5)
9) Hail "a thug leader" at 143, 132 in Freeport Sewers.
10) Hail "a thug leader" again.
11) There are three thugs of interest: a thug mauler (green to 91), a thug bruiser (green to 91) and a thug leader (lblue to 91). After killing the thug leader, the cat appeared. The thugs are tougher than they look but doable with merc healer.
Attention: After killing another thug, I had another cat spawn. Having more than one cat up does not help, seriously.
12) The thugs repop very quickly. Try to pull the cat a bit out of the cave and damage it till it is weak. Then click the "Animal Cage" (despite teh fact that it is not a clickable item...). I did this with the cat ~20% and I the "Animal Cage" turned into a "Caged Cat". For me the cat was white, it might be always at the level of the questing character. Quest was doable with merc healer.
13) Hand the "caged Cat" to Sam Napht in PoK.

3 possible rewards: 1 AA or 135pp or "Old Worn Cat Collar".
"Old Worn Cat Collar" is a familiar clicky with 50 charges of a grumpy feline sidekick. Familiar "Black Cat". Summons a foul tempered black cat that occasionally claws at other players. (have not seen it claw anyone yet, though.) It looks exactly like the cat summened with "Moonfang's Cub" but it comes with the 50 charges.

Best fun in EQ since ages. Thanks to whomever designed this quest.

Exterminator Pandeen says 'There is a reason Sam hired me first. I know this place in and out. Though he must not have much confidence in me to hire someone of your caliber to deal with a simple cat. Which leads me to believe, that all the [rumors] are true.'

You say, 'What rumors?'
Exterminator Pandeen says 'As I said before, people are scared of the cat. Not just because it's mean old beast. Which it is. But because of all the crazy tall tales of it being a bastion of misfortune. Some people think it's the embodiment of one of Cazic Thule's disciples. Others believe it belonged to a powerful vampire, or that it is a vampire cat itself. I've also heard that it at midnight it gets up on its hind paws and plays a mandolin in a graveyard to cause the dead to dance. Well, at least no one can accuse these people of lack of imagination. But I'm sure you're more interested in the [facts].'
You say, 'What facts?'
Exterminator Pandeen says 'Right, well let's see. I've had no success so far, and the only piece of the animal I managed to get was its mangy old collar. The inscription on it is mostly unreadable. The cat is often seen by the docks, looking for fresh [fish] to eat. It also hunts [rats], and may have killed more than me. If you're incredibly unlucky, you'll have to chase it to the [sewers]. I have some [gear] for you when you're ready to begin the hunt.'
You say, 'ewww rats'
Exterminator Pandeen says 'Thankfully Freeport has so many rats, not even the cat will put me out of business. I've often seen it hunting outside the West Freeport gates. Did you have any [more] questions, or would you like your [gear] now?'
You say, 'The sewers?'
Exterminator Pandeen says 'Awful place. Thankfully no one asks me to clean it out. The cat often heads in and out though, I've seen it myself. Watch yourself if you go in there. There are some unsavory types that hang out in there. No more fitting place for them, either. Did you have any [more] questions, or would you like your [gear] now?'
You say, 'More?'

Exterminator Pandeen says 'I have this animal cage here for you. Have a padlock for it, and a key. Don't look at me like I'm crazy, that beast is wily! If you lose the cage, I'll get you another one.'
