This task begins with Skal Nethus in the Plane of Knowledge. He's an Erudite found at location -320, 1200, -111 (close to Franklin Teek). You say, 'Hail, Skal Nethus' Skal Nethus says 'Come closer! You smell...odd. Yes, have you been crawling around in dungeons? I smell the bacterial spores on your armor. You should be careful: [dungeon rot] will make you unpleasant in ways worse than odor.' You say, 'What is dungeon rot?' Skal Nethus says 'Adventures pass through here all the time, wreaking of the stuff. It seems to be spreading through dungeons everywhere. Just last week I was accosted by a putrid, infected halfling. He accused me of wanting to steal his powers. His skin was boiling red, and a cloud of spores billowed about his body. He lifted me above his head and tossed me into a fountain. His [anger] was five times his body size, and I was afraid for my life.' You say, 'What was up with his anger?' Skal Nethus says 'Creatures infected with Dungeon Rot have augmented [strength] and rage. How else would a halfling overpower someone as large and fits as I? I am not positive, but I think the Rot spreads more easily to creatures with anger running through their veins. That is why I resisted the halfing's infection: I am a naturally calm, composed individual.' You say, 'What strength?' Skal Nethus says 'Ah, you know me too well. Yes, my interest in the Rot is not wholly selfless. I would like to find a way to cure adventurers of this blight, but I am sure it would be possible to manipulate the compounds of the disease in order to safely [augment] one's strength. Doubtless, it would be safer than my previous experiments with those [Voidsouls].' You say, 'What Voidsouls?' Skal Nethus says 'I accidentally opened a portal to the Void, and souls escaped into Norrath and possessed many creatures. If you [capture] them for me, I can steal them inside this gem.' You say, 'I will capture them' Skal Nethus says 'Thank you, adventurer. ' You have been assigned the task 'The Escaped Voidsouls'. Search for the escaped Voidsouls in Lavastorm Mountains, Blightfire Moors, Firiona Vie, the Gulf of Gunthak, Goru`kar Mesa, the Broken Shores of Natimbi, the Broodlands, the Bloodfields, the Barren Coast, Arcstone, the Elddar Forest, the Loping Plains, and Old Blackburrow. okay nobody has posted on this in a long time so i would like to share.
The hard ones for me were lavastorm, i ended up using a lower pet, wasted 3 hrs , basilik or drake -north
Firona Vie, killed hundreds, i found a pilgrim in battle with a dogdude and thats where it popped
Broodlands, was a drake for me, like magelo shows, its the north east part, desert
i have 2 left, elddar and blackburrow
re: elddar, ive killed 60 orcs and nothing
i ran a lvl 1 ranger there, (yes it let me zone in ! ) and was not on track. i knew this but had to try
magelo lists loot as many orc things, but description as a giant, no kill points. nada bs
re: blackburrow.
havent tried yet, but i imagine its either easy/ medium to get, or complete idiocy for a solo 77 to get.
if you havent bothered with this don't start. For the love of tunares shrubbery, don't go there

IMO, I cannot confirm using a lower pet, or pet hold, to get VP to pop works or not,
cannot determine that a longer battle vs wiping them off the map is helpful
its just random
i can say VP should pop at about 70% of health, maybe 60% of health
if VP hasnt popped by 49% of health just put mob out of misery
well good hunting, just wanted to get this off the quest list
P.S. don;'t tell your guildies your doing this quest or they won't talk to you anymore.

just dropped in Blackburrow today
These still dropped in Bloodfields for me today
We found the voidsoul coin drops the fastest from the Bears in Goru'Kar Mesa by the Bear Cave.
In Blightfire Moors we got it from A Gnarl Thorn down by the swamp.

...wheter this aug is worth it or not, I like doing quests. I tried a few of the zones with zero success of seeing a single voidsoul. Same for a fellowship mate who is as quest obsessed asI am.

voidsouls can be pre-looted
It's a piece of crap. Have to be 75 to equip. It would be good for level 40 tho, but impossible to get that low.
This is worse than crap at the level required and effort to obtain. A level 55'ish hybrid or caster might use it but not for long.

PO Time is not the problem, you can zone in I think as low as lvl 1, the problem will be getting into Black Burrow, where you need a task from an npc in OGH to enter. The task I suspect is level locked.
You don't need any task to enter old blackburrow. You can just zone into the non instance version. Im not sure about any kind of level requirement though. EDIT: Its possible that i simply had a task every single time i zoned into blackburrow.

You get, This door is solidly locked. without a quest, unless you use the illusion trick to bypass it. As far as I know, you still need a single person task to validly enter the zone.

Just getting the quest from Darkpaw will get you access into BB.
Amazing, they've taken away alot of the level requirements. I entered PoTranq no problem, and PoTime via PoTranq and Herald of Druzzil Ro at 23. And even if there isn't a level requirement to request the task, I'm sure there is at least a level span. I'll look into both shortly.
This is making wonder if some of the GoD zone level requirements have been listed. Some nice quested stuff there without required / recommended level that would be great at <62, but the zones required to loot the no drop items used to have a 62 level minimum requirement, even with proper flagging.
EDIT: Ok, 52 is below the required level for the single tasks. There is a minimum average level and a 15 level gap limit on the shared tasks. So won't be able to go very low, prob not less than 50 or 55, depending on what the average level needs to be + the 15 level limit.

Seems like a waste of time considering Shard of Expanding Power from Crypt of Decay still drops like candy and has AC: 15

However, consider that it can be put in secondary (IE shield slot). 15 overcap AC for a pure caster/druid is like 150 AC in any other slot or summat. I guess that's why it only has mana/end as well. Given how insanely low AC softcap casters/druids have, every little thing helps. That's how i see it. Could be wrong though. Does seem like an awful lot of work for something seemingly that gimp.

Several good alternatives (actually way better ones at that). One easy to get at lower levels, is the Nightmare Fragment from the PoNightmare hotzone. It's only 9ac and 15hp, 5m/e, but still takes less time than obtaining any single voidsoul item.
Even better yet, are two fairly easy to get at 75, 30AC shield augs:
Crest of the Scarlet Legion
Illsalin Enforcer Medal which can be equipped at 70, and can get share the task with an 85, of which just about any should be able to solo the mission, but melee / hybrid classes only.
Not to mention, the even better Bayle's Heraldic Crest.
There are several 15+ ones as well, I just don't have them up on a convenient list at the moment, like the others, that I just remember off the top of my head and from this list: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1258744503313114438&page=1

Unfortunately, the Illsalin Enforcer Medal is the melee reward for the DoD Last Migration mission. Casters get the gimptastic, AC lacking Illsalin Templar Medal (35hp, 35mana & 2% stun resist). The Crest of the Scarlet Legion, on the other hand, is fantastic, relatively easy to get and decent exp for the effort.

Unless - obtaining this aug opens up another task from that quest-giver ... does it?
If not then the trouble to place another NPC in PoK and have peeps collect 13 items for such a weak reward is a waste of both SOE's and our time.

If it doesn't open up something else, or give some unbelievable exp, it definitely will not be worth it. Just getting 1 voidsoul item takes too long for the value of the reward. All of the hotzone augs this time, seem underpar, other than the Blackburrow one, as well.

Very disappointing. 15 AC and 30 Mana and End (no HP?) For spending the time collecting 13 drops from 13 zones, it would seem to be very underwhelming. For that much work, the stats should be at least double. Plus a required 75. Even if I needed the 15 AC as a melee, I'm not sure I'd spend the time needed to go to all these zones, camp the mobs and get it.

Actually old blackburrow can be entered at any lvl just need to know how to do the illusion/mount trick. me and a friend zoned in a 54 rogue the other day via illusion trick.
Why couldn't you just have someone bind in OGH then port to bind if you're under lvl 62?
