    This task begins with Andylis V`Shrei in Bloody Kithicor at 1070, -2135 - the Army of Obliteration side.

    You say, 'Hail, Andylis V`Shrei'

    Andylis V`Shrei says 'Just when things seem to be proceeding smoothly, I hear news of disturbances coming from the camps. I've heard that there is trouble brewing in Greyhawk regiment. Listen to me. There is to be no trouble in any of my regiments unless I am the one causing it! I need someone to go over there and speak with Captain [Mdounis] or to stay here and [help] me. Tell him to straighten up the act over there, or the next time I hear anything out of the ordinary happening in his unit, I'll go over there and make an example of him.'

    You say, 'Captain Mdounis?'

    Andylis V`Shrei says 'Mdounis was always a fairly decent officer. A little overzealous, perhaps a little lazy in his approach to long-term battle planning, but he knew to keep his boot firmly on the throats of his men. If he's forgotten how to do that, it may be time to 'retire' him. Are you in the mood for a [challenge], _____?'

    Andylis V`Shrei says 'Excellent. Go to Greyhawk regiment and sort out whatever their problem is. I don't care who you have to kill, really. Just stop the endless stream of tattle-tale reports I'm getting from them.'

    Treachery afoot in the ranks of the Army of Obliteration, and on the eve of its greatest battle?

    Andylis wants you to go 'have a talk' with Captain Mdounis about the state of the Greyhawk regiment.

    Mdounis' corpse is in his camp. The task will update around -1128.00, -2794.67, 5.29.

    Traulaand Augrith says 'As you can see, _____, we have had some trouble here. Captain Mdounis was attacked by several of the men after an argument. I was asleep at the time, so I wasn't able to respond until blood was already being shed. It looks like he managed to take care of his attackers before he died, but that doesn't do him much good now. You'll have to go to Silverwing regiment and ask Tithoun Sevrek for a replacement officer.'

    Go to the Silverwing regiment camp and speak with Tithoun Sevrek 0/1 (Bloody Kithicor)

    You say, 'Hail, Tithoun Sevrek'

    Tithoun Sevrek says 'Captain Mdounis is down? A mutiny? What a lame way to lose one's life. He was an able leader, and I regret I can only spare Malaurin V`Kon to replace him. We'll have to kill this Traulaand Augrith. I trust him not, the one who is left to speak after a 'failed' mutiny is usually the mutineer himself. We cannot take any chances, for we are at war. Let Malaurin take care of the matter, but be ready to assist if things go wrong.'

    Speak with Malaurin V`Kon 0/1 (Bloody Kithicor)

    Note: If Malaurin is at the Greyhawk camp at this stage, the task will never finish. In this event, go to the ambush spot, kill the ambushers, loot and destroy a phial, run back to Andylis. The task will auto-time out and he will despawn. Get the task again and it will work properly.

    Malaurin V`Kon says 'Excellent, I was hoping for a field promotion in this mess. Lets be on our way. The sooner we get back to the camp the sooner I can whip the pathetic regiment back into shape.'

    Defend Malaurin from the ambush 0/1 (Bloody Kithicor)

    As he passes the north side of the lake, three adds spawn and rush group. Kill them for update.

    Malaurin V`Kon says 'Ambush! Help me destroy these traitors!'

    Malaurin V`Kon says 'These soldiers were not in their right minds. If you noticed during the battle their eyes were glazed and their reactions were slow. We would have been in real trouble had that not been the case. Search their bodies and see if there are any clues as to what is going on.'

    Search the assassins' corpses for any clues 0/1 (Bloody Kithicor)

    Loot an empty phial for update. There should be three of them, one on each corpse.

    Accompany Malaurin to take care of Traulaand 0/1 (Bloody Kithicor)

    Wait for Malaurin to aggro Traulaand. If you don't, task item won't drop and you'll have to restart. (And kill the entire camp unnecessarily.)

    Malaurin V`Kon says 'Taulaand you are relieved of duty. For your role in this mutiny you have been sentenced to death!'

    Malaurin V`Kon says 'It was a mistake to challenge my right to exist. I shall finish you.'

    Traulaand Augrith says 'Launch an attack upon me? You had better be prepared for the fight of your life!'

    Traulaand Augrith strikes through Malaurin's defenses, knocking him unconscious.

    Traulaand Augrith says 'Men! Deal with Malaurin's underlings here and then we'll finish him off. No one is going to rob me of my promotion!'

    Search Traulaand's corpse for any information 0/1 (Bloody Kithicor)

    Traulaand drops a Suspicious Missive. Do NOT loot it before killing the two adds.

    Malaurin V`Kon says 'That letter may have something to do with this situation. I'll take over and keep things under wraps here. Take that missive and the phial to Andylis and see what she thinks of things.'

    Some people are just bent on annoying me today. These phials reek of Amjirin. I thought I'd made it clear, that potion was banned in the ranks of the Thaulen Teir`Duuren. These potions fill a Teir`Dal with rage, but they dull so many other senses that they make a soldier useless for anything but killing their betters. This letter you found on Traulaand only furthers my suspicions. It is clear to me now, someone in the army is plotting my downfall. We'll have to find the person responsible for the treasons! I need to return and speak with Jarik again. He has some [reports] that may be linked to these issues.

    Finish to completion for each character one at a time

    Finish to completion for each character one at a time. You cannot save the vial and missive to finish with all later as the task will fail if anything goes wrong with the task at any stage for the others in the group at any stage. Anyone holding the vial and missive will have to destroy them and start over.

    All can have the task and not lose it as long as they wait until they are ready to do it from hailing Tithoun and Malaurin and heading to the Greyhawk regiment camp. Drop Malaurin from target. Malaurin will pop up in the extended target window at the start of combat with the Obliteration traitor ambush, engaging with Traulaand and sometimes at the end of the fight with Traulaand if any other Greyhawk regiment jump in after Traulaand goes down. Evacuate after this point will save the progress even if Malaurin goes after Traulaand is killed but make haste to Andylis for the turn in. Evac may not even be needed but it was frustrating that it went down different at the end for the 3rd group member and evac was done to get out of the area and leave Malaurin up. One party member did not make the evac and their pet finished Malaurin.

    I found it much easier and faster, oddly enough, to do these one at a time for each group member from start to finish. If you try to rush it and make the slightest mistake in timing, you have to start the entire chain over. Tried 3 times with 4 people in group and the dude kept dying and the traitors kept spawning. If you AoE the traitors, you hit your escort and he in turn will aggro on you.

    Trust me and save yourself the aggravation. it takes 3-4 minutes to do the entire chain from start to finish just invis running between the camps.

    If you go to start the quest and Traulaand is not in his tent because someone else bugged it, you have to reposition him. Start the quest and get all the way to the point where he spawns his two supporters. Of course, he is not there to respond to Malaurin, so you have to go find Traulaand. Aggro him and drag him back to the Greyhawk camp. Then you can kill him. This resets your quest, but also resets every mobs location so you can restart the quest clean.

    I failed this several times as a level 82 sk + healer merc because I couldn't pull aggro off of Malaurin. Specifically Malaurin causes way, WAAAAY too much hate with his attacks. Trial for Power + Terror of the Soulbleeder + Terror of Vergalid + Taunt + physical attacks and I still couldn't get aggro for any longer than a fraction of a second! I had to blitz the mob Malaurin was fighting before the stupid escortee died but thankfully had enough hate on the other two ambushers that Malaurin started fleeing at that point (he was at 19% health) and they ignored him. Still took Malaurin a little while to heal back up and resume his path.

    Traulaand Augrith is no where near where he's listed, not sure if he was moved or if its a bug but he is on the west side of kith, you will need a tracker most likely b/c he's out in middle of no where. Sorry I forgot to get a loc. Update. completely broken traulaand is invulnerable in the wrong location. if you hail him you do get the update. but then Malaurin V'kon will walk up to where he is suppose to be in the next step and nothing happens. Traulaand never spawns.

    Doing this for me and my boxed toons, one piece of advice: when you get the the step, "Speak with Malaurin V'Kon when you are ready to depart," only have one of your toons do this at a time or it seems to bug his script while walking so that he never triggers the ambush step or any of the others.

    3 phials do seem to drop, but you need to be on that portion of the quest in order to get credit and cannot loot them ahead of time.

    I had only 1 vial drop, other 2 corpses faded with nothing on them. I got to Traulaand and killed his adds. I dotted him up and got him to 35%, the mesg then said that Malaurin died, and I saw Traulaand's health max. When the dot hit again, the whole camp agroed on me.

    Also of note, if one of the toons fails it after one of the other toons gets to the very last stage (the turnins, but not actually completed), it may wipe your progress. That.... was frustrating.

    The script of this quest is really very fragile not to say buggy. Took me some tries to finally get that one done.

    Here some tips:
    - Go ahead till "Speak with Malaurin V`Kon'". Instead of hailing him just target him, go to the west side of the lake, halfway of the lakes length and put your chars & merc there. Once ready 'hail' and he will walk to you. This way you avoid any animal adds.
    - Once the thre ambushers spawn aggro all of them to make sure they don't hit Malaurin too much. When low on health he will wander around and you never know where he goes.
    - Before looting the vial for "Search the assassins' corpses for any clues." take the break you need to get heath/mana back. Move your other chars/mercs outside the camp. I placed my peeps west side of the camp.
    - When ready loot and Malaurin will start walking to Traulaand. He will aggro him. Dont try to save Malaurin, his death does not matter. If you do the rest, Malaurin will spawn again to talk you through the rest of the quest.
    - Now here comes a nasty bug: Malaurin's attack on Traulaand does not only put Traulaand permanently on your agro list, it also messes up merc behavior. My tank merc kept coming to my aid, even though I was set as puller (this is a reproduceable bug). Having the merc attack in the camp will most likely not result in a success.
    - I solved the problem with smokebombing the mobs (thats the rogue mez/mindwipe). Either use some similar croud control available to you or do not use a merc in this moment.
    - Anyway, if the script keeps working fine, Traulaand is on your agro list but also permarooted and invunurable. Pull the two adds (the traitors) out of camp (wear the faction necklace to avoid adds) and kill them.
    - Now Traulaand is attackable but he is still rooted and must be killed in camp. Got no adds by wearing the faction necklace.
    - Another bug to avoid: Several times I had Traulaand run around invunurable trying to hunt me down. If this happes the quest is already lost. Use whatever skill you have to get out/drop agro/evac.

    can no longer hail from long distance, but can invis to the ambush spot, walking with him.

    I tried mezz and root mobs near him, it worked but as he killed them the corpses disappeared with no vials to loot, even when the mobs were dotted.

    I TRIED to do this quest a couple of times before I realized when you get to the step where you need to kill Traulaand, he is not attackable until you kill his followers. He will however attack you, and take damage from your damage shield. His followers are mez'able but he is not (not a valid target).

    If you wait to long the quest resets even though its not on a timer.

    Despite all the advice posted earlier this quest is impossible because a paladin's DPS is so slow and Malaurin will kill all three of the ambushers, stealing the kills and making the corpses instantly disappear.

    Funny you say that, cause I've tried this several times and Malaurin dies every time they jump him. Can't figure out how to kill the ambushers before he dies.

    Shortly after I engage the 3 traitors I get booted across the zone to the area where the exit to Time is.

    I don't see any message saying why.

    Same thing just happened to me. I suspect it's because I used an AE root and wound up on Malaurin's hate list. I apparently ignored the advice just below this post. Sigh. I was booted across the zone as soon as my AE landed. Just a guess.

    I did this last night, and it must have been changed a bit. There was only 1 vial on the ambushers, not 3 as previously reported. Then Traulaand killed Malaurin while I was on the adds. I thought that would make me fail, but I finished off the adds and then killed Traulannd anyway. As soon as Traulaand died, he respawned in the same spot, but he didn't aggro. There were three letters on his corpse. I figured I would try doing the turn in even though previous posts indicated the Malaurin had to live in order to complete this mission. However, Andylis didn't care that he died and gave me the reward anyway.

    I tried this a few times before I got it done, so a few pointers: Don't bother to "escort" Maularin from the camp to the ambush spot because nothing aggros him on the way, but animals WILL aggro you if not invised. So just hail him and then go to the ambush spot. Do NOT use any AE spells: it makes Maularin aggro you. After the ambushers are dead, don't loot the phial until you med up for the next fight. Not sure how long is allowed before Maularin gets disgruntled, but it's long enough to rez any dead party members and let rez effects wear off. Once you loot it, just go ahead and run to Traulaand's camp - nothing will aggro Maularin on the way. I let Maularin die there, and still completed the mission, but others have said you fail if he dies. But apparently he doesn't have to stay alive once he gets to Traulaands camp though.

    Anyone have the problem where Traulaand can hit you but you cant hit him? I was thinking that it was because I was stepping out of the tent for more room to fight, but on the 7th attempt, he ran outside of the tent. I can hit the traitors, but not Traulaand.

    After speaking with Malaurin at the Silverwing regiment camp and he starts walking, the person with the task should not invis (it's ok for any others in the group to invis) -- it seems to mess up the script with the ambushers -- some or all of the ambusher's corpses will instantly disappear before they can be looted and the mission won't update and you fail. This happened twice to us when the taskholder invis'd even for a brief moment to get to the edge of the lake to avoid aggroing the animals around the camp.

    In our case the taskholder was a necro, so after the hail on our 3rd attempt he ran ahead to the lake and FD to clear the animal aggro and that worked. Rangers seem to be able to just walk among the animals unbothered -- lucky them. Others probably will want to clear the animals between the camp and the top of the lake (it's a very short distance) and then do the hail to start Malaurin. Once you reach the lake nothing else wanders by to aggro and after the ambush event it won't be a problem to move the rest of the way to the Greyhawk camp uninvised.

    You don't have to be next to Malaurin to hail him. You can get him targetted while invis then run to ambush area and drop invis and hail him from there.

    Note that only 1 char can complete this mission at a time, because while there are 3 empty vials, there is only 1 missive on the final corpse to loot, and the event sets for whoever LAST hands in a vial.

    If Malaurin dies, you lose the mission.
    If you die, you lose the misson.
    If Malaurin gets beat down too far, and wanders off, or gets stuck in a tree, nothing we could find to do would reset him back on the mission. Had to kill him and restart totally.

    If you attempt to Vinelash the ambushers, you will be banished to the northern most end of the zone.
    If someone else who has this mission runs up to the area while you are killing ambushers, a new set will spawn and kill Malaurin. Try to avoid that.

    At first ambush point [-856 x -2011 x -20] three ambushers will spawn. Malaurin will attack one at a time, and can easily tank one, but two on him will kill him every time, best to root-push one off him if you only have one tank in your group, then kill all 3.

    You cannot heal Malaurin, don't waste your time trying like I did ;o)

    At the Greyhawk camp (the one at the south of the lake) it is best to pull the two ambushers out of the camp and kill down at the beach to avoid accidental AE aggroing the camp. Traulaand will wait, don't worry.
    After that set of ambushers are dead, Traulaand will stay in his tent until you get him down to 50% (approx, need to confirm) at that point he will struggle to exit the tent, it is best if you allow that and pull him down to the beach as well; as it seemed that at 30% the rest of the camp assisted him and that was messy fast.

    Seemed any interruption in the sequence of the mission prevented Malaurin from continuing on. Only way we were able to do it was (basically) flawlessly from start to finish, otherwise it would bug and we would have to do a complete restart.

    Any AE spells cast with the ambushers are bad. If Malaurin is not in his bugged state, he agros anyone who harms him and anyone who heals that person. If he is in his bugged state, cast all the AE spells you like, he will not agro a thing.

    As for the locals at that camp assisting, I am going to wager that someone in your group was wearing the wrong color neck in that camp. They went into the tent invised and when you pulled the mob out in battle...were not. The only times I have ever seen the locals assist was when this was the case.

    For those of you wishing to solo this task, it may be on a timer. On the first set of ambushers, med up first before you loot the empty vial. On the second part, if you kill the 2 final adds, then Traulaand Augrith, you may be able to avoid failing the task. Certainly, if you don't kill them all by the time Traulaand Augrith respawns, you will fail.

    It most definitely is on a timer. I ws trying to med up after the ambush, and I took too long. Malaurin despawned, saying that I was taking too long and to come back when I was serious...

    To reset it do everything up to the Traulaand fight but as malaurin walks up to him invis and when you get the update on the task mala will go invis and then you'll get booted from task

    Make sure only one person has this quest at a time if you are with a group. It will bug Malaruin and Traulaand. Just a FYI so you don't run into the problems we did.

    As has been said this task can only be done by one person in a group at a time. Also if you fail any stage of it you must restart completely or it bugs and will not progress if you try to pickup where you failed.
