This task is the first in a series of three. It begins with Jenray, Envoy of Ro, who is found in the Direwind Cliffs in a tent just outside the lava moat to the right of the Ashengate zone.

You say, 'Hail, Jenray, Envoy of Ro'

Jenray, Envoy of Ro peers down at your weapons with a glaring eye, 'You had best sheath those weapons before I take them from you, ____.'

If you hail again without unequipping your weapon, Jenray will attack. And don't expect assistance... who wants to ruin their Scholars of Solusek faction?

    After sheathing your weapons...

You say, 'Hail, Jenray, Envoy of Ro'

Jenray, Envoy of Ro says 'Welcome, Troll, to our humble encampment. Warm yourselves by our flame and rejoice in the many [gifts] that Solusek Ro bestows upon his faithful.'

    You say, 'what gifts?'

Jenray, Envoy of Ro says 'You may have been blinded, as I once was, by the mundane powers of Norrath's pantheon. But look around you now. Evidence of Solusek's influence and omnipotence abound. What would this world be with a sunless sky, hmm? And this simple campfire has the ability to warm, to cook meals, or to burn the unfaithful. Now consider the earth upon which you are standing. This extended mountain range exists because HE WILLS IT SO. What other deity can claim that kind of [superiority]?'

    You say, 'superiority?'

Jenray, Envoy of Ro smiles, 'Ah, ____. You deserve to see for yourself. Allow me to show you the miracles so you will understand.'

You have been assigned the task 'Children of Flame'.

The bite of a drake is dangerous and yet their fire is deadly. Take but a moment and consider this: are flame-spewing drakelings evidence of the power of Veeshan, or the great Solusek Ro? Though my bias inclines me to believe that master Solusek is responsible for their existence, I cannot be sure without sample to study. Bring me several of the diminutive creatures from the depths of the temple and I will judge for myself. Look in the ruins of Ashengate for drake eggs and an incubator to speed up their hatching process. When you have found a suitable drake, use the incubator again to catch them. The lasso on the side should keep them from getting away.

    You receive an ashen incubator

Hatch four drake eggs - Ashengate, Reliquary of the Scale

The eggs can be found in the first tower in the west wing. There are two on the ground floor and more higher up - but the repop rate is very fast (30 seconds or so). Equip the incubator in primary or ammo, target the egg, and right click to hatch it.

Capture four baby drakes - Ashengate, Reliquary of the Scale

A baby drake is hatched when you use the incubator. Target it and right-click the incubator again to capture it. You now have a "Captured Baby Drake" to pop into one of your bags.

Deliver four captured baby drakes to Jenray - Direwind Cliffs

A flameless drake is akin to a toothless lion. Surely this is an example of Solusek Ro's might and guiding presence.

Your faction standing with Scholars of Solusek has been adjusted by 125..

Completion of this task leads in to the second task in the series. Completion of the third task will allow you to repeat "Children of Flame", should you still need more faction.

Well all i did was DA into the room and ran to back wall , somehow I didn't agro anything but there is a safe spot on the back wall next too a rock and the loc is

    301, 336

Thats also right next too an egg.. so you can just use the 1 egg 4 times and collect 4 bags from that one egg, then your done!

I imagine this would be totally easy for a Rog... and somewhat easy for any FD class... Once your in that spot nothing will agro you, nothing can see you... can hatch 4 there np...

This quest requires killing five mobs, maybe a couple or four more repops depending on how many people in your group are tackling it. Just need to clear the two guards fronting the west tunnel, then the drake who wanders and then the two statue guards fronting the first room. Can then just spawn the egg immediately to the right of the room entrance, watching out for the drake who wanders up and down the ramp since he can roam far enough down the ramp to aggro on someone opening the egg.

Repop time is 30 minutes. The hallway volcanic drake pops about mid-corridor.

Note someone mentioned that the incubator is only good for four tries. This is true. If the quester dies before he can capture the little drake, however, all is not lost. Anyone else in the group with the quest can use their incubator to open the egg and then the quester can capture it. This assumes you have someone in the party who doesn't need it themselves. Since this task is repeatable anyone who has already done it should probably get the quest again, if for no other reason than to cover this eventuality.

While I haven't tackled the next quests in the chain yet, I suspect those will be a little more challenging. ;)

Not sure if this would be considered "Solo"

After my group left I decided to open the eggs (long story). I opened two of them and captured them also, then I went to open it again and it wouldn't open...

Come to find out I look up and there are respawns happening and drakes nearby. Seems that if mobs are nearby they don't open.

Doubt anyone can solo these mobs so I would imagine it takes a group.

P.S. You can open these eggs though and stay out of agro range to capture them. They hit close to 2k and are light blue to level 72, and despawn about 20 seconds later (the hatchlings that is)

It is a solo task. It does take a group to accomplish, for most classes, but only the person completing the task gets credit for it, hence, it is a solo task.

I do not play a rogue, so cannot verify, but have heard that this is soloable by a rogue.
Make sure you catcth them before they poof

This first time i spawned one we got and add in the camp. Being the tank I decided to tank the add rather that catch the drake. After 30 seconds the baby drake poofed and I can not spawn another on. It looks like I will have to drop the quest and do it again because you can only spawn four eggs with the device. Next time i'll bring an offtank with me.

to get the quest in direwind you need to take off your wepons or Jenray, Envoy of Ro will not take to you he is found in the black ledgion camp next to the waterfall of lava. once you finish the quest you can get the next quest called A daring Rescue. You can only hatch 4 eggs with the Ashen Incubator so dont let anyone in your group kill the baby drakes. I got almost half an AA for finishing the quest. Did it solo as a Monk took me about 5 min

What reward did your group receive for completing this task?
    clicking
    # Nov 11 2006 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
I was a bit confused with the clicking. The hatch time is 5 seconds, but the capture of the drake is instant. the eggs spawn very fast (30 second spawn maybe) so the individual task each group member has to do goes fast overall. All you need to do is keep the area clear of drakes and adds.

the area you need to head to is the left hallway from the ashengate zone in. there's more eggs up the ramp if another group isn't there already. our gorup only had the bottom floor with 2 eggs but it tok us only 20 mins to complete task for all 6 of us.
