Four Legged Friends (Seventh Trial)

This task begins in the Plane of Knowledge with V`Lynn Renloe (good side armor quest giver at location 779, 454, -159).
Target V`Lynn Renloe and say "trials" to bring up the list of available tasks. Select the "Children of the Fay" task. Task text: Life on the plains of Karana is often harsh and brutal with very little mercy shown to the weak. And yet within this hostile environment will you find many forms of life actually prospering. Near the heart of South Karana lies the stronghold of the Splitpaw Gnolls. Cast out by a wave of elementals, the gnolls now wander the plains, hoping one day to regain their home. This makes the area around the entrance to Splitpaw extremely dangerous so I caution you to remain only in the Southern portion of South Karana. Seek out Master Ashikur, a centuar from the small town up north. I know that he was trying to broker an alliance with the local aviaks. Start your search for him there, near the aviak town. He will instruct you further. Objective #1: Find Master Ashikur Master Ashikur is down near the southwest corner of the zone surrounded by aviak ruffians at -7180, +3195. Hail him. Objective #2: Free Master Ashikur from his captors Kill the four aviak ruffions surrounding Master Ashikur. Objective #3: Speak with Master Ashikur. Hail him. Task text: Thank you for rescuing me two-legs. I came out from our town to try and strike an aliiance with the local aviaks when I was attacked by the ruffians you fought off. During the initial scuffle, the gifts I had brought were destroyed. Now that I am injured, I am unable to retrieve more. Yet as you are here under the tutelage of Master V'Lynn and have already proven your bravery by rescuing me, perhaps your trial can help us both. You stand upon the fertile plains of Karana, the Rainmaker. It is upon here that my folk and I have chosen to try and dwell in harmony with the aviaks. When the gifts I brought were destroyed; so to were our chances of this. Restore hope to my people by bringing me the gifts that were intended for the aviaks. Bring back four small mammoth tusks from adult elephants and two pieces of Lion Meat from lions. You will find both wondering this area and to our west. Objective #4: Loot 4 Small Mammoth Tusks from Adult Elephants Objective #5: Loot 2 Lion Meat from Lions or Lionesses Objective #6: Deliver 4 Small Mammoth Tusks to Master Ashikur Objective #7: Deliver 2 Lion Meat to Master Ashikur Kill adult elephants, lions, and lionesses until you have the required items. Hand them to Master Ashikur. Task text: Good, two-legs, very good indeed! It's a wonder how one with half the proper amount of legs could have accomplished this as quickly as you did. With these in hand, I am sure an agreement can be brokered between the aviaks and my people. Go back to Master V`Lynn with the thanks of the centaur people of South Karana! Objective #8: Speak with V`Lynn Renloe Hail him. Task completion text: V`Lynn slowly nods his head approvingly as you approach. 'Managed to convince even Master Ashikur, eh? That's no small feat considering those Centaurs can be a surly bunch. Very well then...bring this note to your guildmaster. You receive "Note About Your Seventh Trial" and are automatically assigned a new task to deliver the note to the guildmaster for your race and class. I am just returning to EverQuest after a long hiatus, so there is much that has changed, but something happened while I was working on this quest that seemed very odd. I was attacking the Aviak Ruffians surrounding the centaur Master Ashikur, as instructed; however, the the Southern most Aviak Ruffian transformed into a creepy bipedal insectoid, named a Clicknar Scout, in the middle of the fight. Very strange!

Lions are sooooo scarce in this zone. Unless you have tracking abilities,be prepared to spend alot of time on this quest. It's taking alot longer than I like to complete this quest. Also the drop rate for lion meat is extremely low.

correct, southwest.
note...you do not have to have all aviaks dead at one time...
in other words, you only have to kill one aviak from each spawn point.

The Reward listed here is wrong. Though you DO get the "Note About Your Seventh Trial" Ultimately you get a Leggings item.

I can't find a single lion on this zone now (Antonius Bayle server). I recall them being a little scarce before, but I could find them travelling east-west a little south of the North Karana zone-line.

The /loc given in the quest descri[tion is coorect, but it is in fact in the southWEST corner of the zone.
