This is the third quest in the Kelethin "Scouts" series. After finishing up the Scout Blade quest from Laren you are given the following text.

Laren says 'You have proven yourself to be a worthy Scout of Tunare and as such you are worthy to hold the hilt of a scout blade. Remember, rogues in class are we, but in our chests beats the heart of the forest. Our skills are used in defense of Kelethin and her allies. Next you shall speak to Master Tylfon. He will inform you of the [scout silvermesh leggings].'

  • Speak to Tylfon, inside the Rogue's Guild in Kelethin located at -513, -220.

  • You say, 'Hail, Tylfon'

Tylfon says 'So, you think you have what it takes to be a Scout of Tunare? Come back with two gold and two rusty daggers and I'll make it worth your while.'

You say, 'What are scout silvermesh leggings?'

Tylfon says 'Scout silvermesh leggings are part of the garb of the Scouts of Tunare. Besides greater protection in battle, they offer a protection against magic and their unique powers boost the wearer's agility. They are meant for the scouts only and, as such, are not just given away. Are you [willing to earn the leggings]?'

You say, 'I am willing to earn the leggings.'

Tylfon says 'A former scout named Faldor Hendrys has stolen our [Gem of Tunare]. He has fled Faydwer and we have been unable to track him down. Perhaps if you go and speak with his brother, [Elmion Hendrys], and ask him of Faldor, we might learn something of value?'

You say, 'What Gem on Tunare?'

Tylfon says 'The bright green Gem of Tunare was discovered by the Scouts of Tunare in the trunk of a great tree. The lightning streaked down to split the tree in twain and there, inside, was the gem, Tunare's gift to the people of Kelethin. It has no magical properties, but it represents the glory of Tunare. It appears as a small emerald shard. Alas, now it has been stolen by Faldor Hendrys and only his brother [Elmion Hendrys] could know of his whereabouts.'

You say, 'Who is Elmion Hendrys?'

Tylfon says 'Seek out the Fier'Dal, Elmion. He was last heard telling the local bar patrons that he was off to do some adventuring at the lake near the estate. What that is, I do not know.'

  • Travel to Dagnor's Cauldron off of Butcherblock Mountains. Elmion Hendrys can be found at location 443, 97.

  • You say, 'Hail, Elmion Hendrys'

Elmion Hendrys says 'How are you? Please rest. Have you [been wounded by the beasts] of this region?'

You say, 'Where is Faldor Hendrys?'

Elmion Hendrys says 'Ha!! You seek my foul brother, Faldor Hendrys?!! He is my half brother and has left to live with the vile half of his ancestry in Qeynos. No doubt he has decided to lend his talents to the local thieves' guild. Good luck finding him.'

The gem is in possession of a half elf named Faldor Hendrys who makes very rare appearances inside of Crow's Pub and Casino in North Qeynos. He is believed to share a spawn table with "a beggar"

The Gem of Tunare is the Emerald Shard he carries, (identifies as "Shard of Stormhammer I"

    You say, 'Hail, Faldor Hendrys'

Faldor Hendrys says, 'What do you want?! Can't you see I am busy drinking here? You don't even look like you belong here. You can have my seat when I am good and ready to leave, which won't be for a while yet. If I were you, I would get lost before I got myself hurt.'

    You have slain Faldor Hendrys!
Your faction standing with QeynosCitizen has been adjusted by -50.
--You have looted a Emerald Shard.--
Item Lore: Shard of Stormhammer I.

  • Return the Gem to the Tylfon in Kelethin

  • You need to be at least amiable faction to Tylfon in order to do the turn in. I believe he is on Tunare's Scouts faction.

Upon hand in of the gem to Tylfon.

Tylfon says, 'You have done well, my friend. The elves of Kelethin are grateful. Please take the scout silvermesh leggings as a gift. Every Scout of Tunare shall find them useful. Once you are ready to begin your training, please make sure that you see Tilania Shadowwalker. She can assist you in developing your hunting and gathering skills. Return to me when you have become more experienced in our art, I will be able to further instruct you on how to progress through your early ranks, as well as in some of the various [trades] you will have available to you.'

Your faction standing with Tunare's Scouts has been adjusted by 100.
    You gain experience!
You receive 5 gold from Tylfon.
You receive 2 platinum from Tylfon.

    Reward(s):
    Silvermesh Leggings

    Dialogue after finishing the quest.

    You say, 'trades'

Tylfon says, 'I thought you might be one who was interested in the various different trades, but which one would suit you? Ahh, alas, it would be better to let you decide for yourself, perhaps you would even like to master them all! That would be quite a feat. Well, lets not get ahead of ourselves, here, take this book. When you have finished reading it, ask me for the [second book], and I shall give it to you. Inside them you will find the most basic recipes for each trade. These recipes are typically used as a base for more advanced crafting, for instance, if you wished to be a smith, one would need to find some ore and smelt it into something usable. Good luck!'

    You say, 'second book'

Tylfon says, 'Here is the second volume of the book you requested, may it serve you well!'

The 2 books he handed me were,

    Tradeskill Basics : Volume I
    Tradeskill Basics : Volume II

    Emerald Shard obtained in 2002
    # Jul 08 2002 at 8:43 AM Rating: Default
I obtained the emerald shard on Firiona Vie server in the week of 27 April 2002. So it does still drop. I was walking near the front gate of North Queynos and just happened to see him, so I killed him. (Anybody know what a rogue would pay for such an item?)

Is it No-Drop on the FV ? You must remember different Tag/Loot & Item rules so it may just be Lore.
anyone done this quest in last year?!
    # Jun 25 2002 at 1:31 AM Rating: Default
I was wondering if anyone has done this quest in the past year? I ask because I'm working on it now and can't get Faldor nor his placeholder (beggar) to spawn.
I have asked Elmion in DC 'where is Faldor' and have camped the back room in Crow's for about 10 hours straight now with no luck at all. Like I said, after ten (10) hours neither Faldor nor the beggar placeholder has spawned... is the quest broken? ... has anyone done this quest since 2001?
I've even petitioned twice... with no luck of course...
    Got him!
    # Oct 29 2001 at 2:27 PM Rating: Decent
Tried this with my rogue for a while and never got him to pop. But was running out of North Qeynos the other night with my Ranger and he was on track. Killed him and looted the shard, now I just have to work faction with rogues in Kelethin so I can turn it in for my rogue (.
    Faldos
    # Sep 14 2001 at 9:02 AM Rating: Decent
Rogues arn't the only class to want Faldos. Wars also need the shard for the avenger battle ax quest. so not only do we have to worry about catching him when he pops, but also that no damn war gets to him 1st.

    Faldor or Faldos
    # Jul 03 2001 at 10:55 PM Rating: Decent
I have sent a mule Dwarf to DC to speak to the elf about his half brother. I have spent countless hours camping the Crows' pub back room. I only get the place holder -Beggar. the spawn time seams to vary. sometimes 2 hours, sometimes more like 4hrs. In every case, I have yet to find Faldor and it's getting on my nerves. Ya, ya...move on, get over it. But I've become obsessed! Good luck finden the freak!

Working on finishing the quest now.
Faldor finally came this morning at about... 5-5:30. i triggered the spawn with a mule druid, 4 hours later a beggar popped in the back room.
killed him, which i believe makes the next pop take 4 hours, but i'm not sure about that.
i set my alarm for 5 am, went to sleep (i have to work this morning *grin*) woke up at 5:10, logged in, and within minutes, faldor popped.
so i can verify, that part is not broken at least.

very happy.. earlier camp took over 16 hours.

*message edit* i also have a screenshot for anybody interested in his appearance. and am submitting it this morning.
    Leggings..Broken?
    # Jun 30 2001 at 2:15 PM Rating: Default
Has anyone done this quest in the last month.....I followed procedure to get Faldor to spawn...wait for 6 six hours one eve....then off and on for 4 days. Only saw the beggar and killed him several times.
I also tried to get my faction up by doing the Scout Cape quest again...but even that one seemed broken. Have they nerfed this line of quests?
ask who to get the quest??

I have hailed everyone in the Scouts Of Tunare place and asked about the silvermesh leggins and couldn't get the quest. Can anyone tell me the name of the person i am suppossed to hail and ask?

I was amiable to the guildmaster in Kelethin, but did not kill enough orcs. Definately ask him about the "scouts silvermesh leggings" and if he tells you to kill more orcs, do it! By the way, i got the shard from Faldor by killing him after he spawned after 4 hrs after talking with Elmion in DC. I pp'd Faldor for about 15 times with an 85 pp skill and got nothing but coin, copper and 1 plat!! After the 16th pp, he hit me. I killed him with my twinked lvl 19 rogue with 1 bub of hp left to spare.
    Pick Pocket
    # Apr 17 2001 at 3:36 AM Rating: Default
Just to clarify, a rogue CAN pick pocket a no drop item just not a magic item. So as long as it does nto say magic. you can pocket it.
    PP won't work
    # Jan 13 2001 at 6:48 PM Rating: Decent
Every rogue worth his blade polish knows that you can't pickpocket a "no drop" item. You might get something off of him, but you won't get the Emerald Shard
    Elmion and Faldor
    # Jan 02 2001 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
I have done this Quest 3 times and every single time I had a mule Dwarf say to Elmion in DC "Where is Faldor?". This will trigger the spawn of Faldor in the back room of Crow's Pub in Qeynos. Faldor did all 3 times spawn after 1 hour and 45 minutes (not exactly but near) so I went in with my Rogue after 1 hour/20 mins and waited, Faldor came within 30 mins. Hope this helps
    Faldor's Spawn Cycle
    # Oct 05 2000 at 12:32 PM Rating: Default
Faldor or his placeholder spawn 4hours after talking to Elmion Hendry's in Dagnor's Cauldron. You simply ask Elmion "where is Faldor?". Once you have talked to Elmion the initial spawn is 4hours, and then every 2.5 hours after that. the reason for the time disparity is to allow someone working alone the ability to get to Qeynos from Dagnor's Cauldron before the spawn actually happens. Then if the placeholder spawns the poor sap only has to wait 2.5 hours for the next spawn. If someone else talks to Elmion while you are waiting it will reset the spawn to 4 hours... I personally have camped the back room at crows for 9 hours straight (3spawns) on several occasions and have never been lucky enough to see Faldor. I got the beggar every time. I am now level 24 and I don't see the leggings as a very cool armor item anymore. The ONLY reason I would ever complete this quest now is for the prestige and xp.

Can anyone talk to Elmion in Dagnar's Cauldron? I had one of my other characters in the area talk to Elmion while my rogue camped in the back room (I'm assuming it's the one next to the distillery barrel). After hours and hours, real time, no spawn.
    RE: Faldor's Spawn Cycle
    # Oct 30 2000 at 9:05 PM Rating: Default
We hailded Elmion and headed to Qeynos. 4 hours later we checked in Crows and couldnt find a begger or Faldor. I assume it is a 4 "nongame" hour wait and someone else must have hailed Elmion after i had because we checked the tavern exactally 4 hours later. Another reason that there was no spawn could be the fact that i am a bard and it is a rogue quest... I was wondering if you could get this quest if you havent done the cape and blade quests, any info would be appreciated.

I've looked for Faldos for 2 weeks straight now on the Saryn server and I can't find him anywhere. There's a dark elf named Jacole Something-Or-Other (cons green to me at level 20) and the regular patrons of Crow's (Flynn Merrington, Moodoro Finarn) ... but no Faldos. Does anyone who's done this quest have any helpful info?? Thanks!

I have heard that he is on a 4 hour spawn cycle, and that he spawns in the back room of crow's (the door accros from the bar) with a beggar as a place holder. Unfortunately I've never timed his spawn myself, so I'm not sure about that.

After searching for hours, I cannot find Faldos anywhere! Not only that, no one I talked to had seen him either. Do you need to initiate some conversation before he spawns? Or what?

Ya may want to check the date. The date on the root thread is from July of 2000, it was the first post. Posts on this site get older as you go down. I think you should learn a little about what you're talking about before you start slandering others and make yourself look like an... what's the creative term here... ?
