You say, 'Hail, Sedona Raines' Sedona Raines says 'Don't be bothered by that crazy gnome. He won't hurt you. He's just a little out of it today. I'm sure if he had some [mushrooms] it'd calm him down.' You say, 'What mushrooms?' Sedona Raines says 'Reiker and his brother are always looking for fungus covered shrooms. They love to mix it into their stew. I must admit, it is very tasty.' You can find Reiker Rikes next to the camp fire here and his brother is in one of the tents next to it. Approximate location is +1235, +585. You say, 'Hail, Reiker Rikes' Reiker Rikes says 'I be Reiker Rikes! The fastest gnome in the woods!' At this point I hand Reiker Rikes a Fungus Covered Mushroom (I only turned in 1). Reiker Rikes grins. 'These should go nicely in my stew.' You gain party experience!! this quest would be very nice if you could buy as many as you could afford from a merchant. you would set record time for lvling
they apparently nerfed teh exp. 3 shrooms turned in to get 1% exp at 29.

agreed. Just handed in 2 shrooms and got a tick and a half of blue at lvl 32 with my monk. oh well maybe i'll sell them instead, allmost not worth running over there and getting red con wolf agro; thank goodness for Fein Death :)

I rated this quest "Not So Good", but it may have been good at lower levels. Virtually no xp at 33, prob have to turn in 6-10 or so to get a 1% increase. Very easy turn-in with consequently very slight reward. Like others have said, would rather have had the few plat that vendors pay for them.

I spent an evening leveling up on the mushrooms and naturally looted a ton of Moss covered mushrooms, spotted mushrooms, mushrooms, deadly mushrooms, and fungus covered mushrooms. Now I did the fungus covered quest. I turned in about 15 of them an got maybe a little over a blue exp at lvl 34 (woulda rather sold them for PP for that much exp :P). However, I still have a few bags full of these no drop mushrooms. Now with the moss covered, I have two icons for them. One looks like brocolli and the other looks like mushrooms...why the two different icons I do not know. Is there a difference? All I want to know is what to do with these mushrooms? Anyone figured it out yet?

A. There are 3 Mushroomes just to the left, seen from zone to Nib Lair.
B. Experience is not measured in a procent value, but in real numbers. This means that the lvl 60 person will NOT see same movement on the expbar as a lvl 35, when finnishing the quest.
C. In order to pull the 3 mushrooms, you need ranged spell or bow, since they will all aggro otherwise, plus that there is a wolf trap between them and the building hallway to zone.
D. Watch out for trains ! Soo many high/mid players here exping or passing by that wont bother to alert the surroundings that they got a bunch in their footsteaps.
E. Expwise, do the shrooms from 32 to 35, preferebly during hours when peoples are gone. They give around 0.7/0.8 blues at 32, and 1-2 blue at 35. Respawn is mediocre but you can spice with some roamers in the surrounding.
F. BST are not kos to the wolves so dont have to bother about all wolf traps, rest will get aggroed no matter what lvl.
G. Rare spawn is a caster mushroom(roots/dd), so casters might get a suprise, but zone is very close.
H Finally, the drop rate. I recon this is flagged as uncommon.

It's not quite right that you must pull with a bow or spell. With my monk I just inch forward until the nearest shroom comes after me. The others do not follow. This seems to work with all shrooms in the zone.
I was pulling from the building with all the shrooms in it out to the clear area just outside. Sort of beside where the 3 other shrooms spawn. Worked great!
One other note, I was soloing the shrooms with my monk from about level 26 or 27 with no problem.

Rangers are amiable to all the wolves in the zone, unless you attack a wolf (the others will aggro), except the dire wolves. They are KOS (at least they were to me).

druids are amiable to indifferent to nearly all wolves in nearly all zones, however, dire wolves are mean to even a druid

Don't try to just walk up to Reiker Rikes and hand him a Fungus covered mushroom. He will take it without a word of thanks or any experience for you. The trick is, you must talk to the girl, Sedona Reines, and ask her "what mushrooms." Then, turn to the Dwarf, hail him, and give him the mushroom. This sequence is what worked for me.
Also, I found that you can only give him one or two mushrooms at a time. Any more than that and you are wasting them. I only got two messages for experience, even though I gave him three at one time.
Not bad experience. I gave him about 12 mushrooms and got one blue bubble at level 37.

I have turned in like 20 of these in diffrent combination. It just give exp for each you turn in.

it must give noticable xp . .. a lvl 60 took two of these shrooms off me in exchange for buffs

I bet he was more than happy to give you buffs for 2 of these. I sell the fungus covered mushrooms to the vendors in Dawnshroud for over 4pp each, and the deadly mushrooms for almost 3pp each.
If you give them to Reiker, turns out to be kinda expensive xp.

Could be wrong on this one, but from what people are saying in the posts, it appears that the exp is only given to epople that are
A. high enough lvl to kill the shrooms
B. killed the shrooms themselves
Perhaps their is a minimum lvl to get exp for this quest to prevent massive powerlvling, 3 pixels of exp at 50 is like 5 lvls with newb exp.

Does anyone know who or what is to be done with <a spotted mushroom> or <a moss covered mushroom>, which are also dropped by the shrooms?

as far as usin quests to powerlevel chars there r several of those in the game some almost since the realise of the eq..why do u think crushbone belts go for 1pp ea for this exact reason furthermore theres similar quests in cabalis among other places
Hehe. I got my mule half elf bard to level 6 by handing DF belts in WFP (I think I handed in 24 belts). I just wanted enough HP to make it to WC and not die while porting to Nexus.

Unfortunately, someone at Verant isn't taking their smart pills. Mushrooms ARE fungi, so a "fungus covered mushroom" is like saying a "fungus covered fungus" which is like saying "poo covered ****" which is what I think of who proofreads the quests.

Not entirely redundant, friend. A mushroom is a particular type of fungus. Athlete's foot is a fungus. Some little hair-like patches are fungus. A fungus-covered mushroom is conceivable, and I have seen some. ... or mushrooms that I would describe as such, if they were not in fact so.

At level 45, Metam Orphasis (enchanter), turned in a single mushroom and recieved between 1/4 and 1/5 of a blue bub!!! In the hell level that makes people quit !!! - Brutae
I did turn in one fungus covered mushroom, but she took it w/o experience. It said trade was cancelled, but it wasn't back in my inventory.
I hate to tell you, but you give to the little man by the fire, not the one in the tent, and not the lady.

Killed a shroom called Golden Shroom last nigh and he dropped something called Golden Mushroom, think that guy will take that?

The golden mushroom is a part of the Twilight Sea class specific quests. Is for the necromancer staff. Hold on to it and give to a necro friend or something.
I would bet he won't take anything but what the quest giver lists, so if it doesn't say Fungus Covered Mushroom, I wouldn't.
That Golden Mushroom sounds like a rare drop, I've killed several of the 'Shrooms here and even saw the no drop sword twice, but not a single Golden Mushroom. I'd hold on to it til you find out more.

the no drop sword aint that great the graphics are kool..thats about it. if memory serves stats are like 19 dam 40ish del if it had other stats it wasnt that great and its 2hs.i believe i destroyed it to make room in my bank.

First this is a very easy and good quest have done it now about ten times, couple backpacks full each time. :) Does anyone know what the other 5 or 6 kinds of mushrooms are for?
