General Staginar says 'Greetings, ______. Are you here to serve in the war against the grimling horde?

You say, 'I will serve in the war'

General Staginar says 'As you probably know, we've been battling the grunts for nearly a generation now. They have proven to be a challenging opponent. We've inflicted great casualties upon their kind in this war, yet somehow, they seem to grow even more numerous. Barring some miracle, they will become a serious threat to Shar Vahl very soon. One remaining strategy has a chance of bringing us victory, but none have met the requirements for its implementation.

You say, 'What requirements?'

General Staginar says 'Our intelligence has provided us with some information about the enemy. They blindly follow a being they refer to as 'the master'. Our high spiritists have sensed a powerful presence from the caverns beyond our mines, but only those who possess a special key can venture there. None who have obtained the key and ventured into the caverns have been seen alive again.

You say, 'What special key?'

General Staginar says 'The grimling high commander holds half of a magical acrylia obelisk that will transport the wielder to their master's stronghold. I have slain the high commander who held the other half of the obelisk and I have the knowledge of it's construction. I will only give it to one who has proven to be a powerful soldier, for nothing less would stand a chance against the enemy ruler.'

You say, 'What high commander'

General Staginar says 'The grimling high commander will only appear if their compound to the north is overrun. There are two encampments near the compound that will need to be invaded as well in order to secure the area. It is a very complex mission and I will only authorize you to lead it if you have demonstrated competence. Serve our people by successfully completing the lesser raids here in the forest. Bring me the Golden Medal of the Shar Vahl as proof of your prowess, or, if you are already at least as powerful as I am, there is another test that will give me confidence in your abilities.'

You say, 'What test'

General Staginar says 'If you are less experienced than I am, performing this task will gain you nothing. With that in mind, take this box and venture through the mines and into the caverns. Combine in it Gooplart's tooth, Gizgargank's scalp, Grikplag's skull, Gnildaria's eye, Gnerpokkel's heart, Gilgaplank's toes, the husk of the summoned burrower, and the shackles of a Vah Shir captive. Return to me with the Box of the Hero of Shar Vahl and I will send a team of our veterans to escort you into battle.'

You get a Box of the General's Challenge (8-slot container)

This is the "short circuit" quest, for higher level players who do not wish to complete the series of raids which comprise the Grimling War in Grimling Forest. By retrieving these items from the named Grimlings inside Acrylia you prove your strength in return for continuing to the portion of the quest which takes place in Acrylia Caverns.

Combining the following items in the container produces a Box of the Hero of Shar Vahl:

Gilgaplank's Toes
Gizgargank's scalp
Gnerpokkel's Heart
Gnildaria's Eye
Gooplart'sTooth
Grikplag's Skull
Husk of the Summoned Burrower
Shackles of a Vah Shir Captive

For the moment it is technically on the TLP but is also uncompleteable there. There is a current bug with the Grimling Forest pickzones where the pickzone puts you inside Grimling Forest 1.0 instead of the current zonefile but I imagine that will likely be fixed quite soon. The same bug does not affect Acrylia Caverns though so while you can get the pieces from the Forest you are unable to actually finish the quest as it requires multiple drops inside AC1.0.

This quest is one of several listed here that are no longer available. Prior to the revamp of Acrylia Caverns in 2003, this was part of a series of quests which led towards eventually obtaining the key to Inner Acrylia. As the key no longer exists, neither do the quests to obtain it.

The General, Captain, Veterans, and Scouts still offer the mini battles, but the means to trigger them and the related text is totally different now.

claws of khati shah?

From gimina's post I assume what you refer to as the "claws of khati shah" are the half circle of rocks with the archway inside the camp area? there are three grimlings out front there.

So far, we have one in each hut, no new spawns, we slew the three out in front of this enclosure with the archway, which I can only think you refer to as the claws of khati shah, and nothing so far.

is it leave one in each and do not kill the three grimlings out infront of the rock enclosure with the archway?

so far, have gone through two complete re-spawns, the three grimlings that are there at start of event, have not repopped .

does one grimling need to remain inside each hut, and the three grinlings infront of the small rock encloser with the archway- called the "claws of khati shah??" to remain alive?

trying to get the vah to take over the camp, have all camps populated with thugs, stuck on this part, any help would be appreciated.

I don't need the key. I need one of the bloody medals for the bst epic. Can anyone tell me how to reset the individual camps back to grimlings?

I actually leveled in two days off the light blues I was killing to get the coin couriers to spawn. Got 45 pct xp. That is A LOT of killing lb's.

If there's a way that a player can do it, I'd like to know. From what I've read, the only way to get it the camps to reset is to have the zone/server reboot. Maybe if a group or guild took the quests in Grim Forst all the way to the end it would reset the whole lot of them back to the beginning.

How do we gain control of the various camps so that they fill with thugs? I've cleared them repeatedly but grimlings continue to spawn rather than thugs.

You can't just go in and kill all the grimling in a camp. You have to actually do the scout or veteran raids to have the camps switch over. The scout ones are easily to solo at 50 as my beastlord, and usually the mobs drop medal of war needed for the beastlord epic. To get a scout or veteran to charge towards a camp, just hail the scout or veteran and follow the dialog quotes. Also note that you no longer need to keep the scout or veteran alive... just follow them to the camp, they'll ask if you are ready. Say you are and he'll wish you good luck and walk away.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere...but since I couldn't find it when I needed it, here is the info as it stands after revamp:

This quest has been changed. Once all 9 camps are filled with thugs instead of grimlings, you hail the general and he asks you to help with his battle, then when you are ready you follow him to the big grimling forts near TM zoneline. There he tells you to clear the tents and hold them and to be vigilant.

You must kill all but one mob in a tent..then leave someone inside the tent while you kill the last. Then move to the next tent. You will want enough people there to have one person inside each tent and another couple outside killing. We accomplished this with 58 ranger, 59 necro, 50 necro, 53 rogue, 55 cleric, 56 wizard inside the tents, and 56 cleric, 55 monk outside. Those outside go around killing the massive amounts of grimlings that spawn outside each of the tents. Finally a group of grimlings will spawn near the rocks in the center of the "camp" in front of the Claws of Khati Sha. He is not targettable until you kill all the grimlings in that spot. Then about 8 (may have been 10) wanton spirits spawn by the rocks...as well as a targettable Khati Sha. Do NOT let the people leave the tents at this time (we did and had almost a full wipe BUT we killed Khati so all was well). Khati is lvl 55 and not too difficult to kill. Hits up to 200 that I saw. After he is dead a short while passes and the Vah Shir will make a triumphant entrance to the fort killing everything not already dead and set up camp there.

Khati dropped BP of living shadow, the wt reduction bag, and the range item for us. All in all a great evening spent =)

Go to "ring of valor " guilds website. We Keyed our entire guild to Inner acrylia ,Riachi i hate to tell you but your lenghty post is wrong.Besides IA was nerfed, Tashakhi doesnt even spawn anymore as they have removed to mob that spawns him so the IA key quest is a HUGE waste of time.

to do the final battle in grimling-ie: the generals challenge, it will take roughly 100 level 60 people to keep the cats alive.If they die you are done,you have lost.

but the entire quest is pointless anyways, BUT the high commander CAN drop an Uber 1hs Possesed sacrcificail cleaver 25/25 with some stats and procs fury of the vah shir a haste and attack buff, it also drops a caster ft3 book and an FT3 robe,it sometimes drops a 1hb club that has similar stats and same proc as the 1hs.

BUT the war and time sink involved really isnt worth the rewards.

I have done this quest and it IS NOT BROKEN , the Officer that spawns can spawn in 5 MIN or in 3 hours its TOTALY Random and based on how lucky you are. there are 3 quests that are needed to be completed to go on to the next phase its like the coldain insigna ring quest . it gets HARDER every time you go up to the next level.

FYI the Offcers , Commanders IE the last Mob you wait on to kill to complete each quest drops a Weapon (NO DROP) and grneraly by looknig at it SUCKS but if you take the weapon to Shar Val and turn it in to one of hte weapon masters the Approperate ONE MIND YOU there are 3 he will give you A NICE BANE weapon for it . Each one gets better there are 3 levels of these as well . Also the weapon the officer drops is based on the class of the CHAR who started the QUEST by giving the scout, captain whatever the polished sphere or whatever part you give him at that level of the Raid quest . (Ie me as a Shadowknight started one quest and received Greimling Grunt Sword turned it in and recieved Greimling Bane Greatsword 1st quest )
Helped a Friend do his 1st Raid quest right after mine he turned in the sphere ths time and Hes a Beastlord class and recived Claw of the Grunt , turned it into ther weapon masters in Shar Val and got a Gremling Bane Claw. in other words Casters will get a Staff , tanks get swords, Clerics probly will get a mace or blunt , ect ect

ok, the first part of the quest is currently broken on karana, as scout husman is not spawning. However, the other 2 work. The officer is a RANDOM spawn, sometimes he comes in 5 mins, other times i have waited 3 hours and no officer. Also, the officer drop is no rent, so make sure you give it to the scout immediately

summoned burrower husk-
The summoned burrower pops in the water pool to the left after zoning into Acrylia. Often he is either untargetable or yellow con to level 60. But if you wait until the burrower turns red you can kill him and get great loots along with about 3 husks per a kill.

Shackle-
Someone stated above how you get the key to the captives room and how you free the poor shmuck. After you get the key to free him from the High Priest than begins a crazy fight.

We have yet to take sufficient forces to keep the captive alive until he gives you shackles but 4 groups of level 60s isnt enough. Good luck.

If you all want the grimling castle key you can skip the 3 coins and first 3 raids if your lvl 60 or higher then the general. get box from general collect the 6 body parts from named grimling 4 spawn outside AC and 2 spawn inside. kill the summoned burrower which is actually quite easy get husk (sometimes dont drop) go to the lava room and perform the quest there. sit a cleric on the platform so he is rooted get 10-12 people to kill the skeletons as they spawn after 3-4 rounds (45 - 60 mins) the grimling high priest will summon that person on the platform to the center near the statue then poof and re-pop kill him and loot the key . THIS IS NOT THE CASTLE KEY. It is no rent. use it on the OTHER door in the lava room talk to named vah shir get the ******* shackels. combine all 8 in the box turn it back into the captian. but its not over yet. He will give you WAR orders. the final war. to trigger the war to begin give the orders back to the general. he will send some cats to help but the war is equally as hard at the 10th COLDAIN RING~ need like 40 some players to fight off a **** load of mobs then you loot the key from there and go off to the castle. OK? stop being idiots and listen to eachothers posts and put thing together try stuff out. my god

hehe i was on this raid when Riachi did this =D hes got it down pretty damn good, i was the one who had to stand out on the ledge =p all i mainly did was pretty much stand there untill it was over, took a while, Lots of skeletons, i found that a bard could slowly pull me too him when it was over, didnt try mage summon though but would prolly work.. well said Riachi =D

CotH does not work in AC. You get the message "There are no heroes here." And then a bunch of mobs pop on the mage. One of the many "fun" things to stumble upon in AC.

OK, if someone could help fill me in on some info that would be great. I have recently obtained Gilgaplank's toes, which drop off Corpseraiser Gilgaplank in Acrylia caverns, really need info on where the other stuff drops.... another thing

WHILE exploring acrylia caverns, ok i managed to avoid every see invis mob and made it to this door(AS DEEP AS YOU CAN GO) that was locked... and says you need a key, maybe the key goes to that.. it seems more of a reasonable thing than zone in shadow weavers... just thought i would add to that, and verant has a sick mind.. .lol traps and such in acrylia's :P thanks

Grimlings There are 3 types of drops...But as alwasy I cant remember what thy are called (I think low=grunt mid=grimling high=)

Had someone attempt a charm on the scout when i tried for the first part of my epic a while back, and lets say we ended up with a corpse, only corpse we had to.

I can't say for sure because I have not done this quest/battle, but other battles that work in the exact same way (ie coldain rings quests) your charm spell will act as if it worked (it will wear off after a while and PCs won't be able to attack that mob etc), but you still will not be able to give commands to charmed NPC or buff/heal them. As I said I do not know for sure, but I would assume that this set of battles would be no different from the many other times I have tried to charm NPCs during these fights and finally figured out what was going on.

Ive heard from a few friends that this really is the key to the "uknown zone" in Shadeweavers, BUT the mobs u need to kill inside Acrylia for some of the body parts is TOUCH (this quest is currently rated as harder than any of the Northern ToV quests (and that means HARD))

The only quests in ToV are on 3 named dragons in the West wing, which are completed by killing named drakes and Dokezar the Cursed in the Halls of Testing (East wing) and obtaining various tears and symbols.

The reward for the 3 is another raid, only its MUCH harder :\ I had 1 group when I tried it (and since you have to split up) I failed miserable....
