This task is a continuation of the Rathe Day tasks after completing Owlbear with Me for a Moment. You can get the task from Korah Kai, she is located at +1001,+1948,+32.88 in Hollowshade Moor. She's on Find (Ctrl+F).
You say, 'Hail, Korah Kai' Korah Kai says, 'The elusive owlbears could use some extra documentation tracking on their migration. It isn't like there's such thing as too much documentation. Remember what happened to the shriekers and maintaining [balance]? Or would you be interested in helping me with a different set of [beasts]?' You say, 'I can help with these other beasts.' You have been assigned the task 'Softer than Othmir Fur'. Korah Kai smiles warmly as you ask. 'I'm so glad you are still interested in conservation, Kenadi! There are many aspects of it, and as you have already noticed, sometimes it can be a bit gross. However, it's all for a good reason, as we can learn a lot about the lands surrounding these creatures by studying the creatures themselves. I have an associate who absolutely loves the wildlife on Norrath and could use your help. His name is Reeve Purewing, and you can find him somewhere in West Karana. Speak with him for more details for what he needs help with.' She giggles, 'If you are brave enough, that is.' Korah is happy you are willing to continue to help her with her work. She wants you to assist her associate Reeve Purewing with whatever help he may need. Korah has sent you to West Karana to locate her associate, Reeve Purewing. Meet up with him and hear what he has to say. Reeve Purewing can be found in the northwest part of West Karana at /way +484,-4299. You say, 'Hail, Reeve Purewing' Reeve Purewing's thick accent is hard to place and even harder to understand. His energy is very intoxicating and you can't but help to be as excited as he is right now. 'G'day adventurer! I am so very glad to see ya! Aye! Korah was right in sending you to me! I am in need of someone brave like you for some work. Listen-' he pauses for a moment and cups his ear with his hand. 'Ya don't hear it like I do, but the land has been changed here in Karana, especially with the critters that call this place home. One such critter is as gentle as othmir fur once you know how to handle them. The problem is that they ain't [native] to these lands and nobody here knows how to handle them. Luckily, they have found a new home in a place that can handle them the way they need to be handled, the Plane of Fear.' The ursarachnids from Ethemere have upset the balance of Karana and the surrounding areas by creating nests and preying on the local wildlife. Reeve has assured you that the ursarachnids are softer than othmir fur, if one knows how to handle them properly. Reeve has been tracking the spider-bears, but his arachnophobia is making it difficult to work closely with the creatures. He asks that you help him with his work clearing up the ursarachnids who haven’t moved on from their nesting grounds. He is a very passionate individual and he is very excited to have someone to help him with the ursarachnids. He needs your help with collecting and documenting how the areas of South Karana, Lake Rathetear, and the Rathe Mountains have affected the ursarachnids. Collect "ursticating" hairs from the ursarachnids in those zones. These mobs look like spider bears and can be found in the south western part of the zone around /way -6011, 2411, 9 Kill them until they drop Ursticating Hairs from South Karana. --You have looted an Ursticating Hairs from South Karana from a nesting ursarachnid's corpse.-- Your task 'Softer than Othmir Fur' has been updated. You can find the same spider bears in Lake Rathe around /way 3458, -1258, -1 northwest of the Rathe Mountains zoneline. Kill them and loot Ursticating Hairs from Lake Rathetear. You can find the same spider bears in The Rathe Mountains around /way 2689, 642, -10 to the south east of the Lake Rathe zoneline. Kill them and loot Ursticating Hairs from Rathe Mountains. Reeve Purewing ignores you for a moment, as you caught him in another moment of him seriously staring off into the distance. Eventually he shifts back to his jolly side again. 'You made it back with the hairs? Perfect, my friend! This is exactly what I was looking for. As you did with Korah, please take this binder and document your findings.' You say, 'Hail, Reeve Purewing' You have been given: Ursticating Hairs Binder Your task 'Softer than Othmir Fur' has been updated. Open the Ursticating Hairs Binder and put in Ursticating Hairs from South Karana, Ursticating Hairs from Lake Rathetear, and Ursticating Hairs from Rathe Mountains. Hit combine. You have learned the recipe Document the hairs in the binder! You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Documented Ursticating Hairs Binder. Your task 'Softer than Othmir Fur' has been updated. You secure each hair firmly into the binder. You notice that each spot is already labeled and waiting for you to simply collect a sample of the hair. Reeve has put a lot of love into this. He will be elated for you to give this back to him. You offered 1 Documented Ursticating Hairs Binder to Reeve Purewing. Your task 'Softer than Othmir Fur' has been updated. Reeve Purewing opens the binder to check your work. He seems satisfied. 'Look at these specimens, they are perfect. You can certainly tell where they are from. It's fascinating to know how some of these creatures adapt to the environment around them. That being said, we have one more task left. The ursarachnids found a way to the Plane of Fear, but in the Feerrott, many have laid eggs in the area. What you need to do is cull the ursarachnids found in the Feerrott and try to locate one intact spiderling egg that looks close to hatching. Bring that here and I will be able to continue documenting these beautiful creatures?' You complete the trade with Reeve Purewing. Reeve has asked for your help in one more task involving the ursarachnids. He has asked you to collect a spider-bear egg that looks like it may hatch soon. Find it and return as soon as possible with it. You can find these eggs on the left side of the left fork of the river on the south end around /way -1232, 929, -13. Click on one to loot Incubated Ursarachnid Egg. You offered 1 Incubated Ursarachnid Egg to Reeve Purewing. Your task 'Softer than Othmir Fur' has been updated. You have helped Reeve Purewing with his documenting of the ursarachnids in Norrath. He has thanked you and informed you that he no longer has any work he has to do. He has suggested that Korah Kai requires your help. Seek her out in Hollowshade Moor for another task. You have been given: Imprinted Ursarachnid Hatchling Reeve Purewing gasps as you hand him the spiderling egg. You see a look of discomfort wash over his eyes, as a moment passes and the egg wriggles in his hands. 'Ew ew ew ew!' he exclaims as he carefully sets the egg on the ground next to him. 'That's enough of that,' he says while wiping his hands on his shirt. 'Didn't need that feeling documented, that's for certain. You see, Gebb, conservation is about the preservation of life, even if we have to destroy it to maintain that balance. We have never had an ursarachnid born in captivity before, and since most of them have found their way to a new home, it would be much easier to study these little guys where it's safe for everyone.
